Bio Otes

Motor neurons have no dendrons while sensory neurons do, the document discusses types of gated channels including voltage, and the sodium potassium pump is necessary to generate chemical and electrical gradients to maintain the resting potential inside the cell and allow action potentials to occur through changes in voltage caused by sodium influx.

Sensory neurons do

Types of gated channels:

Voltage

Sodium potassium pump is necessary for resting potential

Chemical and electrical gradients generated
Resting potential- -70 usually inside the cell is
Action potentials- +30
To get from -70 to +30 is a change of +100; sodium is coming in the positive ions are rushing in
and changing the voltage in a reversal of charge; the sodium channels have opened.
This is depolarization of the axon causing cations to flow inside
During the action potential the membrane briefly reaches a potential of +30
This causes the voltage gated sodium channels to open and sodium ions rush in.
