IV. PROCEDURES
A. Springboard/Motivation (Establishing a purpose
for the lesson) Activity 1. (Puzzle Me Out)
Present a word puzzle game to the learners.
Give them 1mintue to answer the game and proceed to the
next words.
Check learners work after wards.
B. Activity (Review of previous lesson/s or Activity 2: (Together We Are Team)
Presenting the new lesson)
Show a video presentation to the learners on a team or group
who encountered problems.
Ask learners to give attention to the video presentation to be
able to answer some questions base on the video.
Ask:
What is the video all about?
What problem mentioned in the video?
How did the team face the problem?
What strategies did they do to solve the problems?
Does the video motivate you? Why?
C. Analysis (Presenting examples/instances of the Activity 3: (Put Me Back Into Pieces)
new lesson)
Group learners into three by randomly counting one until three.
Give each group a same picture puzzle and ask them to put the
pictures into its correct form.
The first group who will answer the activity correctly will win.
Give credit to the groups who win by giving candies or lollipop
just to boost their interest to the lesson.
Reveal the correct form of the pictures after the activity.
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new Presenting the Lesson
skills (sub-activity #1)
Ask participants if based on the human knot activity, they can identify
the basic steps in problem solving. Have them share few answers.
Review with learners the problem solving steps in Handout 3.4:
Problem Solving Steps and Tips in their Participant’s Handbook.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new Activity 4: (Role-Play)
skills (sub-activity #2)
Continue discussing the handout on tips in problem solving.
Refer to page 14 on the MyDev Module 3 module.
Tell participants that they are going to practice the basic steps of

play on Handout 3.5: Scenarios for Problem Solving in their
Participant’s Handbook.
F. Abstraction (Making generalizations about the Class Participation
lesson)
What are the steps in Problem Solving?
Why do we need to define the problem in a certain situation?
Why do we need to know what are the possible solution in a
problem?
G. Application (Developing mastery) (Class Participation)
Have some groups share the scenarios with the large group, and
explain how the person in that scenario can use the 6 problem
solving steps to solve the problem.
Explain that after a solution is tried out, it is important to assess
if it is working. If not, another solution needs to be identified
that is acceptable by all.
Explain that to solve problems, it is important to make
decisions. The steps to solving problems can help us make good
decisions
H. Valuing (Finding practical application Ask:
of concepts and skills in daily living)
Did you ever feel like quitting? What kept you going?
As a leader, what actions might you use when a problem
becomes hard to solve?
If you were going to re – do the activity or a similar one, what
would you do differently?
I. Evaluation (Assessing learning)
Direction: Analyze the jumbled basic steps of problem solving, on
a separate sheet of paper, arrange it systematically from first to
the last step.
Evaluate the solution
Get more information about the problem
Choose a solution
Define the problem
Generate many ideas on how to solve a
problem
Implement the solution
J. Agreement (Additional activities for application or Help a friend solve a certain problem using the 6 problem
remediation) solving steps. Write this in a piece of paper.
