I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. Identify the parts of the circle;
2. Draw a circle consisting the given terms related to it; and
3. Value the significance of circle in applying its concepts to real life
situations.

1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Checking of Assignment
4. Review
Analyze the picture below and answer the following questions.
1. Given the figures above, what do we call them? Polygons
2. How many sides does the 1st figure have? What is the name of
that polygon?
3. How many sides does a nonagon have?
4. What do you call a 7-sided polygon?
5. How many sides does a decagon have?
B. Activity
Look at the figures below and analyze them.
C. Analysis
1. On the first figure, what do you think will complete the image?
2. How about the second picture?
3. How about the third picture?
4. Given your answers, how many sides does it have?
5. What do you think this figure called?
D. Abstraction
Circle is the set of all points that are the same distance from a fixed
point.
Note: A circle is named by its center.
A Center is the given point from which all points on a circle are the
same distance.
A Circumference is the distance around the edge of a circle.
A Radius is the distance from the center to any point of
circumference.
A Chord is a line segment whose endpoints are on the circle.
A Diameter is a chord that passes through the center of a circle. It is
the longest chord of a circle and it is twice the length of the radius of a
circle.
Note: All diameters are chord but not all chords are diameter.
A Secant is a line that intersects the circle in two different points.
A Tangent is a line which touches a circle at just one point.
The point where the tangent touches the circle is
called the point of tangency.
An Arc is a portion of the circumference of a circle.
A Sector is a circular sector or circle sector, is the portion of a disk
enclosed by two radii and an arc.
The Segment of a circle is the region bounded by a chord and the arc.
A Central Angle is an angle that forms when two radii meet at the
center of a circle.
An Inscribed Angle is an angle formed by two chords in a circle
which have a common endpoint.
E. Application
A. Using the figure at the right name the following:
1. Name the circle
2. Identify two diameters
3. Identify four radii
4. Identify four chords
5. Name a secant
6. Name a tangent
7. Identify the point of tangency
B. Fill in the blank.
1. If the radius of a circle is 8cm, then its diameter is _______cm.
2. If the diameter of a circle is 25cm, then its radius is _______cm.
IV. Evaluation
I. Assignment
Choose the correct answer.
1. ____ is the set of all points that are the same distance from a fixed
point.
This fixed point is called the _____ of the circle
A. Circle, center C. Center, Circle

2. A segment drawn from any point on the circle to the center.
A. Chords C. Line
B. Diameter D. Radius
3. It is the longest chord of a circle.
A. Chords C. Line
B. Diameter D. Radius
4. Is an angle formed by two chords in a circle which have a common
endpoint?
A. Right Angle C. Inscribed Angle
B. Central Angle D. Straight Angle
5. Is a portion of a circumference of a circle?
A. Chords C. Arc
B. Diameter D. Radius
6. A circle is named by its _____.
A. Center C. Radius
B. Diameter D. Chords
7. How long is the radius of a circle whose diameter is 26cm?
A. 26cm C. 16cm
B. 13cm D. 26cm
V. Reflection/Values Integration
Just like the points, lines, chords, and segments in the circle, we are
all connected with each other. We all belong in the same community.
Though we are not related by name and blood, we connect with each
other by love, virtues, and values. So, as we live in this circle of love, let’s
try to connect with other people; don’t exclude yourself. Communicate
with others just like how the points are connected in the circle thru lines
and segments.
