The engine oil pressure sensor monitors oil pressure and passes information to the ECM through
pin 24 of the engine harness.
The ECM monitors the voltage on pin 24 and expects to see the
voltage vary between 0.5 and 4.5-VDC during normal engine operation.
Voltage above 4.88-VDC
on pin 24 will trip Fault Code 135 and can be caused by shorts in the supply, signal, or return
wires,
an open circuit in the return wire, or a failed sensor.

Component Location
The engine oil pressure sensor is located on the engine block to the upper left of the ECM.

Shoptalk
Does the fault occur only in cold weather? If so, allow the oil to warm up and see if the fault
goes inactive.

The following chart shows the output voltage of the engine oil pressure sensor at various
pressure readings:

Pressure Pressure Pressure Voltage

(kPa) (psia) (inHg) (VDC)
0 0 0 0.22 to 0.80
103 15 30.54 1.00 to 1.20
172 25 50.9 1.33 to 1.68
345 50 101.8 2.17 to 2.83
517 75 152.7 3.09 to 3.91
689 100 203.6 4.10 to 4.92
Older engine models will use the Packard-type connector on this pressure sensor, and newer
models will use the DIN-type connector.
The Packard connector pin designators are alpha and
the DIN connector pin designators are numeric. The steps depicted in
this fault code show the
Packard-type connector with alpha pin numbers. If your engine uses the DIN-type connector,
refer
to the following table to determine the equivalent pin designations for that type connector.

Connector Type Supply Return Signal

Packard A B C
DIN 1 2 3
