BSE-English 4A Practice Teaching / Teaching Internship
On October 6, 2022 I started my internship at Camarin High School and ended on
November 25, 2022. I completed the 200 hours requirements and during those hours I
learned a lot of things that I can use to improve as a teacher and as a person. I also had
many realizations during that time which I am really thankful for because I can use it for
my journey as a teacher and it encouraged me to thrive more in order to be a better teacher
for my students. There are three major events during my internship that helped me to have
these realizations.
The first one happened on my very first day as an intern. I was really nervous to the
point that I couldn't bring myself to enter the campus alone. I stood at the side of the road
and waited for any of my classmates to come so that I would not enter the school alone.
Fortunately, one of my friends came and we entered the school together. While I was
standing there a lot of things came to my mind. Like “Am I really capable of teaching these
highschool students ?”, “Can I be an effective teacher like how I wanted to be?”, “Can I
really be Teacher or am I just being too ambitious?”,and many more. I really questioned
myself, my ability and skills during that time even though I haven't tried teaching and or
even met my students yet . But looking back now I realized how important that moment is
for me and for my growth as a teacher. Because I learned that I should never question
myself without even trying. I should believe in myself first before anyone else and that is
very important in order for me to reach my goal. I should trust myself, my ability and my
skills and never be afraid to try. The second major event during my internship is my grand
demo. It is really nerve wracking. I actually cried every night during the time of my
preparation because of too much pressure and my lack of confidence. I know that I am
giving my best during my time but I think that it is not enough. I needed to revise my
lesson plan for my demo many times while preparing my lessons and visual aids for my
normal classes. My cooperating teacher helped me and gave me a lot of advice but
unfortunately she was absent on the day before my demo. And it is a huge blow for me
because there is no one who can guide me for my final preparations. I cried but I still
continued my day. I handled six classes that day while preparing for my demo. On the day
of my demo I was really nervous. I cannot even stick my visual aid without shaking during
my first class. But in my second class where I will have my demo I really felt sudden
confidence. My demo went smoothly. I was able to execute all the activities and explain the
lesson very well. I received a lot of good comments from my CT and Ma’am Lumabi and I
am really thankful for that. Because of that I realize I really can do it. I can be a Teacher. I
saw my improvements and the things where I excel. And I should use those strengths and
enhance it more to be a better teacher. And the last and most memorable event of my
internship is my last day of internship. A lot of my students cried when I told them that it
will be my last day as their teacher. They pleaded that I should just stay with them. They
also said that I was their best teacher. Although I know for myself that that’s not true, still
it is really heartwarming to hear those sweet messages like how much they are gonna miss
me, how much they love and how great they think I am as a teacher. Those sweet words
and hugs really encouraged me to pursue this career and thrive more to be a great student
for my students. And be a Teacher that is not just a Teacher but someone that can touch
the lives of my students and encourage them to live better and to the fullest and lead to
better paths in life and inspire them to be a great person.
After my internship I really realized that being a teacher may not be the most high paying
job but it is one of the most fulfilling jobs that a person can ever get. And I am very
thankful that I chose this career.
