RATIONALE
Beauty pageants have long been a part of the Philippines' popular culture. They have
been practiced for so many years that they eventually became one of our traditions. One of the
misconceptions about beauty pageants is that such contests reinforce the idea that men and
women should be valued primarily for their physical appearance and that they should conform
to conventional beauty standards, which is absolutely incorrect. Pageants are no longer "just
another beauty contest" anymore. It is a platform for showcasing empowerment, diversity,
gender inclusivity, intelligence, and leadership. People who take part in pageants aim to utilize
the platform to showcase their talents and communication skills, to amplify the voices of the
underprivileged, and to empower others like them. Such platform is also used to address
sensitive and important social issues such as climate change, social injustice, poverty,
corruption, child labor, discrimination against one's gender and many more. Some even come
up with sustainable solutions, which are then implemented, slowly and steadily improving the
community or society they live in. The stage provides a platform for change.
In line with this, the proponents want to convince everyone to engage in the
aforementioned project to support their advocacy. This February, the proponents will be
conducting this event to give entertainment to the people of the baranggay and at the same
time give the candidates the opportunity to showcase their beauty and talents and voice out
their thoughts about different issues that are circulating around the community that need to be
addressed. The money that will be accumulated from the project will be used for future
endeavors. All performances will be documented and posted on the page to reach people
outside the candidates' communities. This project aims to demonstrate that beauty pageants
can be used to promote diversity and gender inclusivity, empower people, and help the
community.
