TATALINO PA”
II. Target Date: October 2022 to May 2023
III. Background and Rationale
With the onslaught of the pandemic with the CORONA virus the reading,
comprehension and vocabulary of almost of the pupils greatly suffered. Thus
academic performance in all the subject areas was greatly affected too for reading,
vocabulary and comprehension is the core for learning. Thus the proponent
thought of a way on how to solve this present challenge.
Also the DepEd has mandated the Adoption of Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan for SY 2020-2021 as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 12, s. 2020
and strengthened by the provisions of DepEd Order No, 18, s. 2020 re: “Policy
Guidelines on the Provision of Learning Resources in the Implementation of Basic
Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP).”
In line with the policy of the DepEd, exemplified in the Republic Act 9155
otherwise known as the Governance of Basic Education Act Education Act, DepEd
Memorandum No. 173, s. 2019 (Hamon: Bawat bata bumabasa (3Bs Initiative) and
Every Child a Reader Program (ECARP) the Department of Education was vested
with the authority, accountability and responsibility of ensuring access, promoting
equity and improving the quality of basic education.
As included in the School AIP and SIP the school plans to make innovations
to aid the identified least mastered competency in different learning areas. To
develop the vocabulary of the learners so they can engage more actively, to learn
and to improve their performance.
To achieve this, the proponent has thought of finding way to make an
additional reading materials, aid for identified least mastered competencies in the
different learning areas.
The proponent has chosen PROJECT BASA NA as innovation for the
following reasons: (1) it will aid the identified least mastered competencies in the

different learning areas. (2) It will help increase the performance level of the
learners. (3) it will broaden their vocabularies and comprehension for them to
understand all their subject areas. (4) it will motivate the learners because the
books/stories are colorful and ice catching.
IV. Objectives
General Objectives: The innovation aims to increase the performance in reading
comprehension and vocabulary:
a. read all the words correctly in the selection within their grade level or any story
assign to them,
b. answer correctly the question from stories read,
c. give correctly the meaning of words found in the stories read.

VI. Project Description/Intervention/Methods and Strategies
The project focuses on the “PROJECT BASA NA BATANG ALAM
MAGBASA MAS TATALINO PA,” The proponent will choose and print
stories from books and internet then make vocabulary exercises and
comprehension questions regarding the story read. The story that will be
assigned to each learner will depend on his/her performance on the FLAT
(Functional Literacy Assessment Tool) Easier or shorter stories will be
given to learners with difficulty in reading while the fast reader will have
more complicated stories. The reading of stories will be done every 3:30
in the afternoon.

For the intervention, the proponent as school English Coordinator will
raise the proposal to the staff meeting, PTA meeting together with the
stakeholders so that the project will be included in the AIP / SIP.
For methods and strategies, the proponent will suggest solicitations,
donations and resolutions.

Upon approval of the proposed intervention, it shall be carried out starting
SY 2022-2023 onwards. All its indicated provision shall be sustained and improved
in order for the school to enhanced the reading performance of the learners, which
is the ultimate aim of this project.
