INTRO CARAGA:

The word Caraga originated from the Visayan word Kalagan, “Kalag”
meaning soul or people and “An” meaning land

Caraga is an administrative region of the Philippines, on the northeastern


portion of the island of Mindanao, designated as Region XIII.
The region is composed of five provinces, six cities, 67 municipalities and
1,311 barangays.
The region is noted for its wood-based economy, its extensive water
resources and its rich mineral deposits such as iron (ayorn), gold, silver,
nickel, chromite, manganese (MANGGANESE) and copper. Its leading
crops are palay, banana and coconut.

goodies. Kinilaw, a unique soured-fish dish, is a popular choice for sour-

combination of Sinugbang Baboy and Kinilaw, is a sour and tender dish

Durian and Langka Turon

The Durian-Langka also known as jackfuit turon is deep fried in lumpia

tablea chocolate dipping sauce.

Kalderobo
One of their signatures here, they use beef instead of chicken, and the meat
is really tender with each bite. Sauce-wise it’s not as thick as we prefer
but extremely tasty nonetheless.
FESTIVALS:

The Naliyagan Festival is a six-day celebration in Agusan del Sur,


honoring the Manobo people and their cultural heritage. It commemorates
the province's independence and establishment, and was organized by
Governor Democrito O. Plaza and tribal chieftains, in consultation with
Manobo leader Datu Lipus Makapandong.

Bonok-Bonok Festival, celebrated every 10th of September, is a colorful


street dance competition originating from the Mamanwas settlers. It
honors St. Nicholas de Tolentino, the city's patron saint, and features
traditional music, props, and dancers wearing traditional clothing. The
festival is a sight to behold with its stunning beauty and extraordinary
performances.
