MONDAY NIGHT
SURRENDER GROUP OF NA FORMAT
Good evening, everyone and welcome to the Surrender Group of Narcotics
Anonymous. This is an open meeting. My name is ________, and I will be
serving as your chairperson for this meeting. Please help me open this
meeting with a moment of silence for the still sick and suffering addict,
followed by the US and WE version of the Serenity Prayer.
Let it be known, this church has no ties with NA except to provide a meeting
place for meetings such as this one. Drugs and paraphernalia are strictly
prohibited at this meeting. This is for the protection of the group, this
facility, and NA as a whole.
Now we would like to go around the room and introduce ourselves. Again,
my name is _______, and I am an addict.
This group is open and offers free membership to anyone. If you would like
to join our group, please see a group member after the meeting. Would all
group members please raise their hands?
Would anyone with the willingness and availability to be a sponsor please
raise your hand?
Would someone please introduce themselves and read:
- Who is an Addict?
- What is the Narcotics Anonymous Program?
- Why Are We Here?
- How it Works (The 12 Steps)
- Just for Today
We will now honor our Seventh Tradition and pass the basket. Because we
are fully self-supporting, donations are used to pay our rent, purchase
literature, coffee, creamer, sugar, etc., and to support area service in carrying
the message of recovery in our area, and worldwide.
Would someone please introduce themselves and read the Why it Works
(The 12 Traditions)?
I have asked my friend, ________ to do clean time.
Please turn in all slips to the secretary by 7pm. Slips presented after that
time will reflect the actual time of meeting attendance.
I would now like to turn over the meeting to the secretary for the NA related
announcements.
Would a friend please read today’s reading from the Just for Today daily
meditation book?
In keeping with the First Tradition, we now shift the focus off specific drugs
and on to the disease of addiction. Any mention of specific drugs distorts the
message and some of the Unity of NA is lost.
This group follows a fixed format. The first through the fourth Monday is
Chairperson’s choice. If there is a fifth Monday, it is a speaker meeting.
Before we get started, is anyone having a problem or an issue that is
affecting their recovery that they would like to talk about. If not, the topic
today will be __________.
If there are ten or more addicts attending this meeting, we ask that you limit
your commenting to 5 minutes or less in order to share the time.
(At End of Comments) Are there any burning desires?
If you did not get a chance to share, please get with someone after the
meeting.
Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us
to place principles before personality. What you have heard here, and who
you have seen here, let it stay here. HEAR HERE
Help cleaning up the room would be greatly appreciated.
Would someone please read We Do Recover?
We will now close this meeting with a group hug and a prayer for anyone
who would like to join us.
