Define Equilibrant and Resultant of a force system and show with
diagram that the Equilibrant is equal and opposite of the Resultant.
Show that the moment of a force about a point is equal to twice the
area of the triangle formed by joining the point with two ends of the
force represented by a straight line as magnitude.
Find the minimum force required to drag a body of mass 100 kg up
along an inclined plane on which it rests. The plane makes an angle of
20° with the horizontal. Mutual contact surfaces have coefficient of
friction 0.25.
A square ABCD has sides equal to 20 mm. Forces of 150 KN each act
along AB and CD and 250 KN act along CB and AD. Find the moment
of the couple required, which will keep the system in equilibrium.
Using Pappus's Theorem, calculate the volume of the solid generated
by rotating a right-angled triangular area of base ‘b’ and height ‘h’
about an axis parallel to the height and at a distance of ‘d’ from it.
State the reason why the mass moment of inertia of a circular ring of
