I. GENERAL Requirements
1.1 GENERAL
THE WORK TO BE UNDERTAKEN SHALL INCLUDE THE FURNISHING OF LABOR,
MATERIALS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING:

PROJECT : RENOVATION OF ROOM H711A


LOCATION : Saint Louis UNIVERSITY, BAGUIO CITY

1.1a SCOPE OF WORK


THE RENOVATION MUST BE EXECUTED STRICTLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPAL ITEMS OF
WORK SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT be LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
2. MASONRY
3. WOOD AND PLASTICS
4. DOORS AND WINDOWS

7. OTHER ITEMS OR WORKS AS MAYBE REQUIRED AND NECESSARY TO

THE RENOVATION PROCEDURES SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DPWH


STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, AND IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH THE APPROVED
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS.

ALL ITEMS NOT SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS OR NOTED ON


THE PLANS BUT WHICH ARE OBVIOUSLY NECESSARY FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE
WORK SHALL BE INCLUDED.

II. MASONRY works


2.1 GENERAL
2.1a SCOPE OF WORK
THIS INCLUDES THE FURNISHING OF ALL LABOR, MATERIALS, AND
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO CONSTRUCT ALL CONCRETE MASONRY UNIT
WALLS AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND AS SPECIFIED HEREIN. THE WORK
SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT be LIMITED TO GROUTING AND RELATED
EMBEDDED ITEMS.

2.1b THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS ARE REFERRED TO:

ALL MATERIALS FOR THE WORK SHALL BE DELIVERED, STORED AND
HANDLED SO AS TO PRECLUDE DAMAGE OF ANY NATURE.

2.2 PRODUCTS
2.2a MATERIALS
1. CEMENT
PORTLAND CEMENT SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM SPECIFICATION C150,
TYPE I.
2. SAND FOR MORTAR
SAND SHALL BE CLEAN, DURABLE PARTICLES, FREE FROM INJURIOUS
AMOUNTS OF ORGANIC MATTER. THE SAND SHALL CONFORM TO
ASTM SPECIFICATION C144 OR C33 AS REQUIRED.

3. WATER
WATER SHALL BE FREE FROM INJURIOUS AMOUNTS OF OILS, ACIDS,
ALKALIS, ORGANIC MATTER, AND SHALL BE CLEAN AND FRESH.

2.3 EXECUTION
2.3a ALL MASONRY SHALL BE LAID PLUMB AND TRUE TO LINES AND BUILT
TO THE THICKNESS AND Bond REQUIRED WITH COURSES LEVEL AND JOINTS
AND BOND UNIFORM. MASONRY SHALL BE CARRIED UP IN A UNIFORM
MANNER.

2.3b ALL NECESSARY CUTTING SHALL BE NEATLY DONE BY SAWS.

2.3c CONTROL JOINTS SHALL BE INSTALLED AT THE LOCATIONS NOTED AND


DETAILED ON THE DRAWINGS.

2.3d. GROUT AND CEMENT MORTAR FOR SETTING TILES, FRAMES IN WALLS
AND WHERE OTHERWISE REQUIRED SHALL BE DONE WITH MORTAR OF 1
PART CEMENT TO 1 PART SAND. BEFORE PLACING GROUT, THOROUGHLY
CLEAN ALL SURFACES. GROUT SHALL BE TAMPERED INTO PLACE WITH A
BLUNT TOOL TO FILL THE ENTIRE VOID.

III. Wood and plastics


3.1 GENERAL
3.1a SCOPE OF WORK
THIS section INCLUDES THE FURNISHING OF ALL LABOR, MATERIALS, AND
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO complete and field install wood framing, trims and
moldings, wood and plastic laminate panel boards, and related finish carpentry work AS
SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND AS SPECIFIED HEREIN.

THE WORK SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT be LIMITED TO constructing a wood-framed


platform as indicated on the drawings.

3.1b THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS ARE REFERRED TO:

3.1c PROTECTION of MATERIALS


All materials shall be kept dry and covered to prevent damage from weather or moisture.
Materials shall be stacked above ground level with spaced supports to prevent deformation
and shall be handled to preclude DAMAGE OF ANY NATURE.

3.2 PRODUCTS

3.2a MATERIALS
1. lumber
lumber shall be manufactured to comply with PS 20 American Softwood Lumber
Standard and with applicable grading rules of inspection agencies certified by
American Lumber Standards Committee's (ALSC) Board of Review.
2 in w x 8 in THK x 8 ft. L PHILIPPINE HARDWOOD, FINISHED 4 SIDES,
NO.2 OR STANDARD GRADE

2. plywood
plywood SHALL CONFORM TO American national standards institute
specification ansi a135.4 for basic hardboard.

Plywood Exposed to View shall be APA Grade A-C, exterior, sanded, 19 mm (3/4
inch) thick unless shown
otherwise in manufacturer’s site requirements.

3/4 IN THK 4 FT X 8 FT MARINE PLYWOOD, SANDED

3.3 EXECUTION

3.3a All lumber shall be properly seasoned or kiln-dried.

3.3b All lumber must be inspected, marked according to grade and certified by the
appropriate bureau governing that product prior to use.

3.3c Prior to delivery of materials on site for installation, the Contractor shall provide the
proper environmental controls for material storage (i.e. Weatherproofing, climate control,
etc.). These controls shall be maintained for the duration of the project

3.3d Install work plumb, level, securely in place and with tightly fitted joints

3.3e Do not install woodwork in areas where painting, sanding, grinding or wet work is
insufficiently complete for proper protection of woodwork.

3.3f Use blind nailing where practicable. Where face nailing is required, set and fill with
putty. Finish work smooth.

3.3g Minimize joints by using maximum length lumber available. Stagger joints in adjacent
and relate members.

3.3h lumbers Erected as wood framing members shall be level and true, with horizontal
members laid flat to create a rectangular frame as indicated in drawings.
3.3i. spacing of lumbers shall be at 2 feet (0.6 m) between each piece, measured both ways
from the center of frame.

3.3j CUT, TRIM, AND FIT all members using American standards approved tools.

3.4k 4’x8’ plywood shall be cut into proper size and attached unto frame using 3” common
nails.

3.3l Construct and brace framing to provide maximum stability and minimize effects of
shrinkage. Layout, fit and erect blocking, furring and grounds. Securely bolt or anchor rough
carpentry to structure.
3.3m Installations shall be by contractors and tradesmen skilled in carpentry work.

IV. Doors and windows


4.1 GENERAL
4.1a SCOPE OF WORK
THIS ITEM INCLUDES FURNISHING ALL THE MATERIALS, HARDWARE, TOOLS,
LABOR AND SERVICES NECESSARY FOR THE COMPLETE FABRICATION AND
INSTALLATION OF DOORS AND WINDOWS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS
AND THE SPECIFICATIONS. PROVIDED ARE SHOP DRAWING OF FABRICATED
ITEMS SHOWING SIZES OF ALL MEMBERS, DETAILS OF CONNECTIONS,
FABRICATION, INSTALLATION AND CORNER SECTION SAMPLES FOR DOORS
AND JAMBS APPROVED BY THE ARCHITECT / CONTRACTORs.

4.2 PRODUCTS

4.3 EXECUTION
4.3a DOORS
1. ERECT ALL FRAMES SQUARE AND TRUE TO LINE AND LEVEL WITH
SECURE FASTENING TO STRUCTURES AND ANCHORS. INSTALL FORMED
STEEL STIFFENERS AND REINFORCEMENT WITHIN FRAMES AT ALL POINTS
WHERE TOP SCREW FASTENINGS ARE USED IN CONNECTIONS WITH
EMBEDDED STRAP ANCHORAGE.

2. ALL LUMBERS FOR WOODEN DOORS INCLUDING DOOR BARS, PLATFORMS


AND ALL WOODWORK OF SIMILAR NATURE SHALL BE KILN-DRIED WITH NOT
MORE THAN 14% MOISTURE CONTENT.

3. HAVE ALL PRE-FABRICATED DOORS INSTALLED BY AUTHORIZED


REPRESENTATIVE OF THE MANUFACTURER, BUT NOT BEFORE ALL
PLASTERING ARE COMPLETED.

4. CUT, TRIM, AND FIT EACH DOOR TO ITS FRAME AND HARDWARE
ACCURATELY.

5. GIVE ALLOWANCE FOR PAINTER’S FINISH AND POSSIBLE SWELLING OR


SHRINKAGE.
6. CLEAN ALL SURFACES AND TEST ALL FRAMING AND HARDWARE. MAKE
ALL REPAIRS AND ADJUSTMENT TO THE WORK, LEAVING IT IN A
SATISFACTORY CONDITION.

7. ALL DOORS SHALL OPERATE FREELY AND WATERTIGHT AND ALL


HARDWARE SHALL BE PROPERLY INSTALLED AND FUNCTIONING.

8. ALL DOORS MUST BE GUARANTEED AGAINST WARPING, TWISTING, AND


CRACKING. THE CONTRACTOR IS OBLIGATED TO REPLACE ENTIRELY ANY
OR ALL DEFECTIVE DOORS.

4.3b WINDOWS
1. FACTORY FABRICATE ALL FRAMES FOR PRE-FABRICATED WINDOWS IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE DESIGN AND DIMENSIONS INDICATED IN THE
PLANS.

2. SET AND ANCHOR FRAMES AS SHOWN IN DETAILS AND/OR IN APPROVED


SHOP DRAWINGS.

3. SET FRAMES PLUMB AND SQUARE AND BRACE WHERE NECESSARY TO


PREVENT DISTORTION.

4. ADJUST ALL FRAMES AND ATTACH HARDWARE BEFORE GLAZING.5.


SECURE ALL WINDOWS TO BE WATERTIGHT AND ALL HARDWARE
OPERATING FREE AND EASY.

V. Finishes
5.1 general
5.1a scope of work
ALL FINISHING MATERIALS SHOULD BE OF BEST QUALITY. SAMPLES should be
SUBMITTED AND APPROVED PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.

A. floor finish

A1. Furnish materials and equipment and perform labor required to complete all types of tile
works as indicated and scheduled on the plans.

A2. Samples of each type of tiles including all required beads, moulding, and trim units.

B. CEILING finish
B1. FURNISH ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND LABOR
NECESSARY FOR THE COMPLETION AND INSTALLATION OF ALL CEILING
WORKS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DETAILS AND PLANS.
B2. Provide and install the necessary materials required in areas indicated in the plans.
B3. DISMANTLING and DEMOLITION WORKS OF SOME PARTS OF EXISTING
CEILING AS AFFECTED BY THE NEW CEILING LAYOUT AND FINISH.

C. wall finish
c1. Removing SOME PARTS OF EXISTING wall AS AFFECTED BY THE NEW wall
LAYOUT AND FINISH.
c2. FURNISH ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND LABOR
NECESSARY FOR THE COMPLETION AND INSTALLATION OF ALL wall WORKS
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DETAILS AND PLANS.

D. PAINTING works
d1. Furnish all paint materials, varnish, and other related products, tools, equipment, and
labor required in undertaking the proper application of painting, varnishing, and related
works indicated on the plans. See drawings for location, quantity, and extent of surfaces to
receive paint.

5.2 products
5.2a materials

a. floor finish

FLOOR TILES: 40MM W x 40MM L x 15MM THK - SEAMLESS HOMOGENEOUS


UNGLAZED TILES

b. ceiling finish
Gypsum Board: 120mm w x 240mm l x 5mm thk in G.I. Framing Suspended Ceiling
System complete with all accessories and acrylic diffuser lighting system.

Ceiling Suspension System: ASTM C 635 (Intermediate duty) main beam and cross tee
classification, commercial quality dipped galvanized steel. All exposed surfaces to be
chemically cleansed with capping in baked polyester and/or treated with powder coat white
finish. Provide seismic bracing.

3.2MM D X 10MM L X 6MM DK BLIND RIVETS

Double Furring clips

70MM W X 70MM L X 1MM THK WALL ANGLE

C. WALL FINISH

Gypsum Board: 120mm w x 240mm l x 5mm thk for all Dry Interior Walls.

G.I. metal Studs framing: 0.60mm x 35mm x 76mm x 3mm at every 600-mm on center
both ways. Provide standard construction system complete with seismic bracing.

3.2MM D X 10MM L X 6MM DK BLIND RIVETS

d. Painting works

d1. Interior Concrete or Masonry Painted - Three (3) coats water-based masonry plain
semi-gloss finish. Sample Shades for Procuring Entity’s Approval.

D2. Plain Flat Finish: Acrylic water-based paint on ceilings, three (3) coats. FLAT

D3. Plain Semi-gloss in Acrylic water-based Epoxy paint on interior walls, columns, on
all other interior concrete surfaces. (3) coats

Painting Application:

1. All sample paint shall be submit on at least 300-mm x 300- mm plywood panel, color and
shade as per approval by the Procuring Entity.

2. Application shall be as per paint Manufacturer’s specification and recommendation.

3. Provide all drop cloth and other covering requisite for protection of floors, walls,
aluminum, glass, finishes and other works.

4. All applications and methods used shall strictly follow the Manufacturer's Instructions and
Specifications. All surfaces including masonry wall shall be thoroughly cleaned, puttied,
sandpapered, rubbed and polished; masonry wall shall be treated with Neutralizer.
All exposed finish hardware, lighting fixtures and accessories, glass and the like shall be
adequately protected so that these are not stained with paint and other painting materials
prior to painting works. All other surfaces endangered by stains and paint marks should be
taped and covered with craft paper. Manufacturer: Boysen or Davies Paint

5.3 execution

a. floor finish

a1. All surfaces to receive tile work shall be cleaned of loose materials and given proper
surface preparation prior to tile work. Tiles shall not be installed on surfaces that are
unsuitable and will prevent proper installation of tiles.
A2. Keep tile joints parallel and straight over the entire area by using straight edges.

A3. Lay tiles from center lines outward and make adjustments at walls.

d. painting works

d1. All paints shall be evenly applied. Coats shall be of proper consistency and well brushed
out so as to show a minimum of brush marks.

D2. All coats shall be thoroughly dry before the succeeding coat is applied.

D3. Where surfaces are not fully covered or cannot be satisfactorily finished in the number
of coats specified such preparatory coats and subsequent coats as may be required shall be
applied to attain the desire evenness of surface without extra cost to the owner.

D4. Where surface is not in proper condition to receive the coat the Engineer shall be
notified immediately. Work on the questioned portion(s) shall not start until clearance be
proceed is ordered by the Engineer.

D5. Hardware, lighting fixture and other similar items shall be removed or protected and re-
installed after completion of the work.

vi. furnishings
6.1 GENERAL
6.1a SCOPE OF WORK
THIS SECTION INCLUDES THE FURNISHING OF ALL LABOR, MATERIALS, AND
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED for all furniture selections as SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS
AND AS SPECIFIED HEREIN. THE WORK SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT be LIMITED
TO the Installation of a CARPET on A WOODEN PLATFORM.

6.2 PRODUCTS
6.2a MATERIALS
1. adhesive-fixed carpet
Carpet shall be nylon bonded to 1/8 - ¼ inch (3.2- 6.4mm) thick, flexible vinyl
backing 3/8 or 7/16 inch (9.5 or 11 mm) thick with nonraveling edges.

6.3 EXECUTION
6.3a Examine substrates and wood conditions for compliance with requirements for location,
sizes,
minimum recess depth, and other conditions affecting installation of floor mats and frames.

6.3B Install recessed mat frames to comply with manufacturer's written instructions. Set mat
tops at
height recommended by manufacturer for most effective cleaning action

6.3C carpet Adhesive shall be applied evenly onto the wooden platform in accordance with
the manufacturer's instructions.

6.3D The carpet shall be positioned accurately on the adhesive, ensuring proper alignment
with the edges of the platform. Firm pressure shall be applied to the carpet to eliminate air
pockets or wrinkles and ensure secure adhesion

6.3E Neat and precise trimming of the carpet edges to fit the platform dimensions shall be
conducted using appropriate tools.
