Composite Materials: 15% of the aircraft

1- CFRP: Carbon fiber reinforced plastic used for primary flight controls and engine cowls.
2- AFRP: Aramid fiber reinforced plastic used for RADOME and Belly Fairing skin.
3- GFRP: Glass fiber reinforced plastic used for the deck floor.
Metallic Materials: 85% of the aircraft
1- Copper alloy 2- Zinc alloy 3- Aluminum alloy Time Limits and Maintenance Checks:
4- Titanium alloy 5- Stainless Steel AMM chapter 05-20-00 covers SCHEDULED Maintenance tasks and checks.
Pretreatment: AMM chapter 05-50-00 covers UNSCHEDULED Maintenance.
1- Aluminum Alloy: unsealed chromic acid anodizing (CAA)
Jacking
2- Titanium Alloy: - if interfering with aluminum must be zinc sprayed
- 2 jacking points located outboard the main landing gears (Left and Right).
- If not then left bare - 1 jacking point located in the nose landing gear.
- Titanium fasteners are coated with Sulphuric acid anodizing
- The open air jacking operation is limited if the wind velocity exceeds permissible values
3- Composite: Left bare
- Jacking pads have to be used under the jacking points to spread the loads.
Aircraft drainage: - Safety Jack point is at the tail.
1- Remote control water drain: fuel tanks 2- Pressure drain valve: pressurized areas
- Shoring: It means supporting the wing (front and rear spars) to relief the loads during long
3- Simple water drain: found in surge tanks 4- Other drain points
maintenance procedure
Leveling and Weighing Mooring:
Weighing of an aircraft is done in one of the following conditions: In case of A/C in wind direction:
- On Jacks - For wind speeds < 50 knots: No need for mooring.
- Landing Gear on Jacks - For wind speeds between 50 and 70 knots: Mooring for NLG
- On Wheels - For wind speeds more than 70 knots: mooring for both NLG and MLG
Leveling is done through one of the following: In case of wind gusts and unstable wind directions:
- Attitude Monitor (in the Fuel/Defueling Panel) - For wind speeds more than 50 knots mooring is required for both NLG and MLG
- Through the MCDU using ADIRU IR data (Alignment is a must) Placards and Marking
Towing and Taxiing - Standard No. 1 & No. 2 labels are in plastic.
Towing checklist: - Standard No. 3 label in metal foil (used in skydrol zones)
- A/C is stable and engine cowls are closed. - Placard and Marking (external) found in ATA 11-20-00
- “H” dimension is less than 300mm. - Placard and Marking (internal) found in ATA 11-30-00
- A/C must be energized (APU, Engine or ground power from tractor). Labels codes:
- Towing control lever is in towing position (Steering mode is deactivated). Code A: Electrical near boxes and panels
- Yellow brake system is pressurized. Cade B: Electrical away from boxes and panels
- Accumulator is in green range. Code C: Racks, boxes and panels
- Lighting system: EXTerior NAVigtion and INTerior in case of night operation Code D: Hydraulic
- VHF system on Codes E, F, G: Functional Description of an Equipment.
- 1 person in the cockpit to operate the brakes if needed and 2 persons are needed to
monitor the wing tips (left and right)
- Parking brake off
- 3 meters safety clearance around the A/C
- Max. steering angle for any side of the A/C is 95°
Towbar specs:
- Damping system
- Calibrated Shear Pin
- 2 calibrated turn shear pins
Parking and Mooring
- Parking: max. 2 days. For more than 2 days it is called storage
- Parking Checklist:
- Park the aircraft on a flat surface.
- Flight control surfaces are retracted.
- The wheel chocks in position.
- Ground the aircraft.
- Refuel the fuel tanks to 30% minimum.
- Drain water from all the fuel tanks.
- Installation of the Protection Equipment: Protect all the probes, the engines and the
APU with adapted protection equipment.
- Push the DITCHING pushbutton switch to close the ventilation skin valves and the
outflow valves.
