1. What does cleanliness mean to you?

When I think of cleanliness, I recall the saying by John Wesley “Cleanliness is

godliness”. The basic meaning of cleanliness is to always remain neat. This term also
conveys another meaning which is maintaining purity in our conduct. So, I prefer to
define cleanliness in two types - physical tidiness and spiritual benevolence.

Physical cleanliness is the process of maintaining hygiene in our body and around us.
Spiritual purity is demonstrated in our actions. It is the good virtue that we follow
even during trying times. The kindness that we shower on others is a good example.
Both these types of cleanliness are equally important for us as it help us to stay
physically and emotionally fit.

I make personal efforts to keep my surrounding clean. I discard all waste material into
the bin. Every day, I clean my teeth twice and bath thoroughly. I take care to deal with
others in good manner.

2. Write a descriptive paragraph of your journey to the school every morning. Try to
include words that tell you about the sights, sounds and smells that you encounter.

Every day when I go to the school, I pass by the Ram temple. I hear the sound of the
temple bell. I pray to God to bless me for a good day. In front of the temple, I see
different types of flowers in the flower shop. I get so pleased with the nice smell of the
flowers. Next to the temple I see the Gurudwara. Here, I get to hear prayers being
played inside the Gurudwara. Soon, I witness a tender coconut seller who keeps calling
people out to take his sweet tender coconuts. Then I see a mango tree at the B-2
Block. I stare at the tree to check whether the mangoes are ripening. As I approach my
school, I run into a large number of vehicles plying on the street. At this rush hour
there is often traffic congestion. I hear many vehicles honking. I really get annoyed by
this sound. I struggle through the busy road and unruly vehicles to get into the school
gate. I feel so happy seeing my friends.

3. Write a leave application to your class teacher requesting her to grant you three days

Subject: Suggestions for improving the services in the canteen

Respected Principal Madam,

Since the last month I have been observing the school canteen cooking area. I have
found that the canteen staff cook food in a very untidy manner. They do not wash the
vegetables properly. They add dirty water into the food. They use palm oil which is
very unhealthy for us. They use tainted containers to store masalas.

Madam, in this regard I wish to make a suggestion for your kind consideration. I feel
that the school should appoint a staff to monitor the canteen employees to ensure
proper hygiene. This will help improve the food quality and the overall services in the
canteen. Madam kindly explore the possibility of instituting the suggested practice.

Yours sincerely,

Aishani Acharya

5. You are a student of class VI, living in Sarojini Nagar. You love to go to the park in the
evening and play with your friends. But of late you have realised, that your friends
prefer to stay at home and chat on WhatsApp instead of coming out to play. Though
you also enjoy staying in touch with you friends via technology but at the same time
you understand, the importance of physical exercise in a child’s life. Write a letter to
your friend explaining him the need of workout and how technology is ruining the
need of physical content.

Dear friend,

How are you? I am fine. Please greet your parents from my side.

Nowadays, I have observed that you all don’t like to play in the park. Instead you all
like chatting with friends on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. At the same time, I
have realised that technology is destroying our lives.

We are not doing any kind of physical activities. This makes us obese. By becoming
obese we can have a lot of diseases. We have fewer social networks. We can even get
to know other more well when we come out to play. By doing physical activities
oxygen circulates in our body. Studies have found out that children who do physical
activities are more intelligent than those who are not doing.

By sitting on gadgets and playing games, chatting with friends, etc. has a very harmful
impact on us. The rays of the gadgets can be a reason to create brain tumour.

Even the government, is making facilities for children and their parents to involve in
physical activities.

I request you to come to the park and play for some time. I hope you can understand
the need of physical workouts.

Your friend,
Aishani.

6. Imagine yourself to be Pragnya who decided to pay a visit to her friend Tarangini. You
were travelling in the Delhi Metro from Rithala to Kashmiri Gate. Unfortunately,
during your journey, you lost your wallet which also had your metro card. Write a
diary entry about that fateful day describing your woes and all the troubles you that
you had to face.

June 20, 2019

Dear Diary,
Today I planned to meet my friend Tarangini. I reached the Delhi Metro at the Rithala
Station. I went at the security check up area and did my security check up. I took a
metro to Kashmiri Gate. It took almost 30 minutes to reach Kashmiri gate. I was very
hungry, and I decided to have a burger from the canteen at the metro station. I find
out that my wallet is missing. I was very sad. My wallet had my metro card, credit and
debit cards. I thought that I could not reach to my friend. I checked my pockets and
found out that I have RS. 100. Now I decided not to have a burger. Nowadays the
ticket fare for ladies is for free. Thus, I did not pay for the ticket. I took an auto and
reached my friend’s house. I told her about my problems. I complained about it to the
police. I asked the bank to give me new credit cards. My friend dropped me back
home. I feel this day was the worst day in my life.

Subject:

Respected Madam,
I am the class representative of class VI-A. We got to know that from tomorrow
onwards, all the students can wear casual. All of us were really concerned after this
announcement.
Children often like to wear branded and beautiful dresses. But some parents can
afford them. Thus, kids end up judging them and their parents with the kind of dress
they wear. This creates inequality in the class. Kids even get jealous with their
classmates by seeing the kind of dresses they wear. This makes their friendships
weaker.
By wearing school uniform none of these consequences occur. Hence, I would like you
to think on this matter, and act accordingly.

Yours sincerely,
Aishani Acharya.
Class representative of VII-C.
9. The principal of your school is conducting random bag search several times a year
without letting students know in advance. What is your position concerning this issue?

Respected Madam,
I have observed that nowadays you are randomly checking the bags of students
without informing them in advance. I feel this is a good practice. In this way the
students do not carry unnecessary things to school like; smart phones, expensive
jewellery, etc.
I feel this practice can be better, if the class teachers can appoint two responsible and
sincere students, who will check their classmates’ bag once in a week during the long
break.
I hope you think about it and then act accordingly.

Yours sincerely,
Aishani Acharya.

recognize the face in the mirror. ‘This is not me he cried aloud’. Then he ran down the
stairs to find out where is his mum. He found out that his mum was in the kitchen. He
started asking his mum that ‘Mum, how come my face can change in one night’? His mum,
replied where are you my sweetheart, please come to me. He then said, ‘Mum, I am in the
kitchen, you are in front of me’. His mum replied, ‘ please do not lie Karan’. Karan started

room, and said ‘Aishwarya, am I invisible’. His sister replied, ‘You must be invisible, as I
cannot find you in this room, but I can still hear your voice’. Karan started crying. And
decided pray God for this issue.
Suddenly he heard the voice of his mum yelling at him to wake up for school. He woke up,
looked at his face and he thanked God. He thought this was a dream or a night mare.

Dear friend,

How are you? I am fine. Please greet your parents from my side.

You have my book titled as ‘The Star of The Day’. This was gifted to me by my
grandmother and I many of my feelings are emotionally involved. Thus, I have a habit to
read it once in every 4 months to refresh my feelings. Even I tend to forget the story as I
read a lot of books. Today I thought of reading the book, suddenly, I recalled that I had
given the book to you. If possible, could you please give it back to me tomorrow?

Please free to tell me if you need to keep the book with yourself for some more time.

production. Mention the necessary requirements and sign in yourself – the middle

13. You are a student of class 7th. Your school is situated in a residential colony and a lot of
