DEDICATION
This project is dedicated to my parents who have never failed to give us
financial and moral support, for giving all our needs during the time we
developed our system and for teaching us that even the largest task can be
accomplished if it is done one step as a time.
We dedicate this Project to all the people who have worked hard to help us
complete this project.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This paper and the research behind it would not have been possible without the
exceptional support of my SWEP coordinator, ENGR (DR) B. S. OLUWADARE
His enthusiasm, knowledge and exacting attention to detail have been an
inspiration and kept my work on track from my first encounter with my first time
seeing my senior set running their own program while i was still a lad in school
ABSTRACT
This report summarizes my practical experience at Ekiti State University Ado-Ekiti
in Ekiti State. The training lasted four days, during which I visited the laboratories
in four of the Faculty of Engineering's four departments, explaining the technical
skills and information required by students to become effective Engineers in the
labour market.
My SWEP was done in Ekiti State University Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, of which I have
file and shared some of my experiences

CHAPTER 1
Introduction
A collaborative program called the Student Work Experience Program (SWEP) is
created to give engineering undergraduate students who have just finished their
first year (100 level) and second year (200 level) a better grasp of what the
engineering field comprises.
HISTORY OF SWEP
In 1974, 748 students from 11 colleges and institutions participated in the
Student Work Experience Program (SWEP).
.
Objectives of SWEP
SWEP will insure that all of our activities are processed in accordance with high
quality and environmental rules.
SWEP maintains better planning systems and processes, with a
concentration on product value.
ADVANTAGES OF SWEP
The following opportunities are provided to students by SWEP:
It allows effective interaction between students and political employers
while they are in training.
GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCT DURING SWEP
The proper wear of lab coats and safety boots should always be observed by
students.

3. MECHANICAL WORKSHOP
3.1 Automobile Parts
I learned about the parts of a car and their function, in the workshop. We were
also taught how an engine works. I can also categorize this as automotive
engineering because two- and four-stroke engines are involved .
The two-stroke engine is a type ___________________

CHAPTER FOUR
RANGING
Ranging is the process of establishing many intermediate points to measure
the survey lines in linear measurement. This can be done by ranging rods,
offset rods, and ranging poles. The first step in any construction work is
Surveying. Ranging is one of the important aspects of Surveying
Concrete that has had metal (typically steel) implanted within it and
subsequently hardened over is called Ferro concrete, often known as
reinforced concrete. The reinforced steel, which might take the form of rods,
bars, or mesh, contributes to the tensile strength. Due to the fluidity of the
concrete mix, the steel can be placed at or close to the area where the greatest
stress is anticipated.
Types of Ranging
Ranging can be of two types
Direct ranging
Indirect rangin
Direct ranging
Direct ranging is adopted when the two survey stations are inter-visible i.e.
the two endpoints of the survey line are visible. It can be further of two
types
Ranging by eye: It is done with the help of the eyes. For example, A and B
are the two inter-visible points at the survey end line. Surveyor stands at
point A concerning point B. Then, another person takes the ranging rod and
fixes or establishes an intermediate point C between the line AB. The
surveyor at point A then signals another person at the intermediate points so
that the ranging rod is in perfect line with the endpoints A and B. Hence, the
intermediate points are determined.
Ranging by line ranger: Here intermediate points are fixed directly
utilizing an instrument known as line ranger. The major advantage of this
method over the eye judgment method is that this method can be conducted
easily by one person. The accuracy achieved by this method is also higher.

CHAPTER 5
5. NETWORKING
Computer networking is the combination or connection of computer
equipment through a wired or wireless network with the purpose of sharing
files and resources. To link devices to the internet and other networks, such as
laptops, routers, desktops, etc., the wireless network, which runs without
cables, employs electromagnetic waves or infrared waves.
.
Wired networking was the main topic of discussion during the practical.
5.1 WIRED NETWORKING
As previously said, wired networking is a form of networking that use wires, and
these cables have been classified into various forms;
1. twisted-pair shielded cable ( STP)
2. Unshielded twisted peer cable (UTP)
Straight through cables and cross over cables are the two types of networking
cables that are most commonly utilized.

I.2 SHARING FILES USING THE CROSS OVER CABLE (POINT TO POINT)
Use a cross over cable to move files between computers. We were first told to
check to see if the computers we wished to use to share data with didn't have the
same IP address, and then we went about sharing the files by;__________

6. ELECTRICAL LACORATORY
6.1 SOLDERING
Soldering is a joining process used to join different types of metals together by
melting solder. Solder is a metal alloy usually made of tin and lead which is
melted using a hot iron. The iron is heated to temperatures above 600 degrees
fahrenheit which then cools to create a strong electrical bond.

CONCLUSION
The several labs I visited during the SWEP program provided me with a wealth of
knowledge. ___________
