Alternating Voltage and Current

1. The maximum value of a sinusoidal alternating current of frequency 50 Hz is 25 A. Write


the equation for instantaneous value of the alternating current. Determine its value at 3 ms
and 14 ms. [Ans. i  25 sin 100t A, 20.225 A, -23.78 A]
2. Calculate the rms value of a triangular wave in which voltage rises uniformly from zero
to Vm, and completes the cycle by falling instantly back to zero. Find also its form factor
and peak factor. [Ans. 0.577Vm, 1.1554, 1.733]
3. An ac voltage is mathematically expressed as
v  141.42 sin(157.08t   / 2) volts.
Find its (a) effective value, (b) frequency, and (c) periodic time.

1.4. The peak value of the voltage is 322 V. Find (a) the rms value, and (b) the average
