DESCRIPTION TRAINING CREDITS
This two-day course is for technical administrators who manage 1
and configure extensibility features for reporting, business rules,
and integrations in Workday. In this course, you will learn how to
define and use custom fields for which Workday does not provide ready-made fields, maintain
custom fields, and configure single-instance, multi-instance, noneffective dated, and effective
dated custom objects for reports, calculated fields, and condition rules. By completing this
course, you will be able to use custom fields to meet unique business requirements across all
functional areas.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
• Define and distinguish between custom objects and custom fields to include their
purpose, components, limitations, and application.
• Classify custom field types and use them (e.g., effective-dated, noneffective-dated
single, multi-instance, and single-instance custom fields) in reports, calculated fields,
and condition rules.
• Define and configure User Interface (UI) visibility rules and conditions for custom fields
and custom objects.
• Identify how to manage (create, activate, delete, and restore) existing custom object and
custom field definitions.
• Explain how to use custom fields and import custom field data in an integration using the
Workday Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB).
PRETRAINING CONSIDERATIONS
To successfully complete this course, you will need in-depth knowledge of Workday report
writing. Examples of skills required to be successful in this course include determining the
appropriate primary business object and data source for a report, creating basic advanced and
matrix custom reports, and creating a basic calculated field.
