GL Multi-Element Hierarchy View Design screen
The GL Multi-Element Hierarchy View Design screen is opened by clicking Design View in the Design GL Multi-Element
Hierarchy View Enquiry function.
Using this screen, you can configure the columns displayed in the hierarchy view, the year to report on, optional filter
criteria to apply to the General Ledger transactions history, and the user security required to access the hierarchy view.
BASED ON HIERARCHY
Field Description
Hierarchy Set (Display only) The hierarchy set on which this hierarchy view is based.
VIEW DESIGN
Field Description
Description (Display only) The name of this hierarchy view as displayed in the GL Multi-Element Hierarchy
View Enquiry (GL E012) function.
To edit the view description, click Correct on the Design GL Multi-Element Hierarchy
View Enquiry screen.

Field Description
Columns The columns to display in the hierarchy view.
Standard Views
Choose from one of the standard hierarchy view templates provided with Pronto Xi.
These templates simulate typical Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports, including:
Current and Last Year - Profit and Loss
Rolling Financial Year - Profit and Loss
Actual vs Budget Current Year - Profit and Loss
Forecast Actual Current Year - Profit and Loss
Current and Last Year - Balance Sheet
Rolling Financial Year - Balance Sheet
Full Year Budget
Specify the budget number in the Std View Budget field.
Full Year Budget Entry
Specify the budget number in the Std View Budget field.
Template
Define a custom template for the hierarchy view columns.
Click Create/Edit to open the GL Hierarchy View Template screen and define each
column of the General Ledger hierarchy view.
Columns From View
Use the same columns as another view. Any future changes to the column definitions in
the other view will automatically apply to the current view as well.
Build From The topmost node in the General Ledger reporting hierarchy to display in the hierarchy view.
You can use this setting, for example, to display expenses only, or income only.

Field Description
Year Selection The default year and period to use as the current period when generating data for this hierarchy
view. This setting can optionally be overridden when generating each hierarchy view snapshot.
Current Year
Use the current period set in the Period Processing Dates (SYS M137) function.
Specific Year
Enter a specific year and period to use as the current period.
Natural Account Filter Up to five filters, where ? can optionally be used as a single character wildcard, to specify which
1-5 natural accounts to include in the hierarchy view data. If you do not enter any filters, all natural
accounts are included.
If the natural accounts consist of four digits and a natural account filter of 1??? is
specified, General Ledger hierarchy view data is generated only for the natural accounts
beginning with 1.
GL Account Filter 1 - Up to five filters, where ? can optionally be used as a single character wildcard, to specify which
5 General Ledger accounts to include in the hierarchy view data. If you do not enter any filters, all
General Ledger accounts are included.
If the master chart structure for the General Ledger hierarchy is CCTTAAAA and a General
Ledger account filter of 12?????? is specified, General Ledger hierarchy view data is
generated only for company code 12.
Currency This is available only if mirroring of General Ledger transaction data into at least one
foreign currency has been set up in the Mirrored Currency Configuration function.
The currency in which to display the General Ledger hierarchy data. Blank means the local
currency for the company.

Field Description
Column Precision The precision in which to display the values in this hierarchy view.
The precision expression can contain the following characters:
- Indicates the position of the sign character when a value is negative.
This character, when used, must appear at the start of the precision expression.
When this character is repeated multiple times, the minus sign floats over leading
zeros to be positioned before the first non-zero digit.
9 Represents a single numeric digit.
When this character appears after a decimal point, it represents a decimal digit;
otherwise, it represents an integer digit.
z Similar to 9, except leading zeros are suppressed.
b Represents a blank character.
. Specifies the location of the decimal point.
t Similar to ., except the decimal places and decimal point are not displayed when
the value is zero.
, Specifies the location of a thousands separator.
View Access Security The module and function code that a user must be granted to allow them to see this hierarchy view
in the GL Multi-Element Hierarchy View Enquiry function.
The default security is the module and function code of the menu itself. You can, however,
set up custom functions to restrict access to this hierarchy view to specific users only.
