Experiment No. 06: Two-Way and Three-Way control of Lamp and
Formation of Truth table
Aim: To verify the truth table for a lamp is controlled by two different points or Stair case
wiring.
Tools required: Hammer, screw driver, cutting pliers, and hand drilling machine tester, Hack-
saw blade.

Theory: In domestic wiring, lamp and other electrical equipments are controlled from one point
independently but in some areas a lamp has to be controlled from two and more points according
the convenience of the user. A lamp can be controlled by two different points and three points
using two way switches and intermediate switches. These two way and three way control of lamp
is more useful in stair cases, corridors and bed rooms. So two way control is also called as stair
case wiring.
Procedure:
1. Draw a Wiring diagram of stair case or a lamp controlled by two different points.
2. Cut the PVC pipe according to the length and fix with saddles and screws by drilling
holes.
3. Draw the wires and connect as per the wiring diagram
4. Now fix 2 way and 3 way Junction box and ceiling rose with screws.
5. Fix holder and 1 way gang box and two way switches.
6. Connect the 1 phase, 230V, supply and check the condition of the lamp from two
different points to form the truth table.
