area of interest
●The learner demonstrates understanding of the specificity and feasibility of
the problem posed
B. Performance ●The learner is able to formulate clearly the statement of research problem
Standards
C. Learning At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
Competencies/ 1. Writes a research title (CS_RS12-Id-e-2)
Objectives: Write 2. Describe background of research (CS_RS12-Id-e-3)

IV. PROCEDURE
1. Preparation Routinary Activity:
A. Greetings
B. Prayer
C. Cleaning the classroom
Review/Motivation Proper:
The students will thumb up if the statement is a fact. Thumb down if
otherwise.
1. A quantitative is less prone to researcher’s personal bias compared
with a qualitative study. – thumb up
2. A quantitative study primarily involves narratives and images. -thumb
down
3. Quantitative research focuses on human experiences. -thumb down
4. Quantitative research involves as many participants as possible to
obtain conclusive results. – thumb up
5. An experimental study is always quantitative – thumb up
2. Presentation The teacher will discuss how selecting a research topic.
The research topic is a general area of interest that you would like to pursue
in research. There are several factors to consider in identifying and selecting
your research topic.
1. Relevance- it relates to the needs of your study’s target audience.
2. Interest- you and other people interested about your topic.
3. Manageability- the research topic can be studied within your abilities and
your research topic must be doable within a specific time.
4. Available resources- utilize in exploring your chosen topic.
The teacher will also discuss the background of the study
The background of the study introduces important facets that establish the
general context where the study revolves. Here are the five components to
consider in writing the background of the study.
1. The current state of the field- Explain the general field where your
current study is situated remains to be significant area of research up to the
present.

2. The research problem- Discuss all the issues or concerns which your
study will address.
3. The current and conventional practices in addressing the issue-
Discuss the current practices being used by researchers, practitioners, or
authorities within the particular field of study you are investigating.
4. The research gap- Explain that there are other aspects under the topic
which may not been addressed by current practices and conventions in your
field of study.
5. The contribution of the present study in addressing the research
gap- Discuss how your own study will help fill in the research gap you have
identified.
The teacher will also explain how to formulate the research
questions
Research Questions are important components of your research which help
define the research problem of your study.
1. Specific Research Questions for Descriptive Research
2. Specific Research Questions for Correlational Research
3. Specific Research Questions for Ex Post Facto Research
4. Specific Research Questions for Quasi-Experimental Research
3. Generalization Activity 4: Write one general research questions and three specific research
questions for each the given research topic.
Research Topic: The effects of wife’s employment on the power structure of
the family.
