Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Working as part of a team to ins ta ll ne w ra c ks /c a b ine ts , Op tic a l a nd
Ro ute r e q uip m e nt o r m o d ific a tions of e xis ting ins ta lle d e q uip m e nt.
Ins ta lla tions to c onform to Com p a ny Sta nd a rd s following MOPs
(Me thod s of p roc e d ure ) a nd within d e fine d Proc e s s a nd Proc e d ure s .
● Background in te le c o m m unic a tions /IT. Exp e rie nc e ins ta lling e q uip m e nt,
ra c k/c a b ine ts , AC/DC p owe r, re c tifie rs , g ro und ing o r s truc ture d c a b lin g
e tc .
● Knowledge of telco engineering concepts , c om p one nt q ua lific a tion
m e tho d s , s ys te m s imula tion, link b ud g e t a na lys is , s ite s urve ys or d e s ig n
(ne two rks , d e vic e s , a nd te c hnolog ie s ).
● Working knowledge o f o p tic a l a nd e le c tric a l te s ting p ra c tic e s re q uire d .
● Understanding of DWDM (De ns e Wa ve Divis ion Multip le xe rs ) b a s e d
o p tic a l tra ns m is s io n s ys te m s a nd OTDR (Op tic a l Tim e Dom a in
Re fle c to m e te r) te s ting p re fe rre d .
● Troubleshooting. Isolating faults/issues using VFL, Optical Power Meter,
BER Tester.
● Staging of equipment. Full p re p a ra tion a nd b uild of ILA’s a nd e nd nod e s
in s ta g ing la b for te s ting p rior to d e p loym e nt.
● Demonstrate e xc e lle nt inte rp e rs ona l, org a nis a tiona l a nd c om m unic a tion
s kills , with the a b ility to work und e r p re s s ure a nd m e e t d e a d line s .
● High level of attention to d e ta il a nd p rid e in your work.
Qualifications: ( De s ira b le )
● Ce rtifie d Op tic a l Ne two rk As s oc ia te (CONA).
● Certified Optical Network Engineer (CONE).
● Certified Fibre Characterisation Engineer (CFCE).
● City & Guilds 2382-15 19th Edition Course.
● ALCATEL LUCENT COMMISSIONING.
● CIENA COMMISSIONING.
● FIBRE SPLICING.
● Full Driving Licence.
● CSCS/Safe Pass card.
● Manuel Handling.
Education and Experience:
● Education (e.g., Bachelor's degree, High School diploma) and any
relevant fields of study.
● Outline the necessary years of experience in a similar role or industry.
● Mention any preferred certifications or professional development.
Skills and Competencies:
● List the essential skills and competencies required for success in the
role.
● Include both technical skills (e.g. communication, teamwork).
● Strong Logical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, ability

Work Environment:
In your role within customer - facing data centers and colocation operation
centers, you will be tasked with both independent and collaborative
responsibilities. It is essential to maintain high standards of service while
adhering to the specific security pr otocols and regulations set forth by our
clients.
Physical Demands:
The role has a diverse range of responsibilities, from engaging in physical
tasks to troubleshooting complex issues. Team collaboration is essential, as
you will work closely with colleagues to achieve project goals. Additionally, the
ability to think crea tively to overcome challenges.
Expected Hours of Work:
Our standard working hours are established from Monday to Friday,
encompassing a total of 40 hours per week, primarily based at your designated
data center area. It is important to note that short - distance travel may be
required to cover the metro ring wit hin your assigned region.
Note – This role operates an on - call pattern to cover weekends and public
