CLASS 12 PHYSICS HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT
1 A uniform electric field E= (8 m/e) V/m is created between two parallel plates of length 1 m as
shown in figure, (where m= mass of electron and e = charge of electron). An electron enters the
field symmetrically between the plates with a speed of 2 m/s. Find the angle of the
deviation (θ) of the path of the electron as it comes out of the field.
2 Two identical positive charges Q each are fixed at a distance of '2a' apart from each other.
Another point charge 𝑞! with mass 'm' is placed at midpoint between two fixed charges.
For a small displacement along the line joining the fixed charges, the
charge 𝑞! executes SHM. Find the time period of oscillation of charge 𝑞! .
3 An electron (mass m) with an initial velocity 𝑣⃗ = 𝑣! 𝑖 (𝑣! >0) is moving in an electric
#
field 𝐸)⃗ = −𝐸! 𝚤̂(𝐸! >0) where 𝐸! is constant. If at t=0 de Broglie wavelength is 𝜆! = $% ,
!
then what is the de Broglie wavelength after time t.
4 A capacitor of capacitance 900μF is charged by a 100 V battery. The capacitor is
disconnected from the battery and connected to another uncharged identical
capacitor such that one plate of uncharged capacitor connected to positive plate
and another plate of uncharged capacitor connected to negative plate of the
charged capacitor. The loss of energy in this process is measured as x × 10−2 J.
The value of x is _____
5 A capacitor has capacitance 5μF when it's parallel plates are separated by air medium of
thickness d. A slab of material of dielectric constant 1.5 having area equal to that of plates
but thickness d/2 is inserted between the plates. Calculate the capacitance of the capacitor
in the presence of slab.
6 Find equivalent resistance between the adjacent corners of a regular n-sided polygon of
uniform wire of resistance R.
7 Find the ratio of magnetic field at the centre of a current carrying coil of radius r to the
magnetic field at distance r from the centre of coil on its axis.
8 A deuteron and a proton moving with equal kinetic energy enter into a uniform magnetic
field at right angle to the field. If rd and rp are the radii of their circular paths respectively,
&
then what will be the ratio &" .

9 The electric current in a circular coil of four turns produces a magnetic induction 32 T at
its centre. The coil is unwound and is rewound into a circular coil of single turn, find the
magnetic induction at the centre of the coil by the same current.
10 Predict the directions of induced currents in metal rings 1 and 2 lying in the same plane
where current I in the wire is increasing steadily.
