Report on Orientation class

By Saami

This report details all the activities undertaken in today’s orientation class for new interns. It aims to
revisit all the activities performed and topics taught and discussions made about them.

Introduction

The orientation class commenced with an engaging introduction led by the CEO, who
welcomed all attendees and facilitated a round of introductions among team members. We
were provided an overview of the company’s mission, values, and organizational structure,
emphasizing the collaborative nature of the various teams. We were shown where we would
need to fit into and what skills and tasks were expected to do so.

Company Overview and Blockchain Fundamentals

Following the introduction, two team members presented an informative session on the
company's operations and a live demonstration of a few basic tasks that we would need to
perform later on in our internship period. They began by outlining the core functions of the
business and how these relate to the broader context of blockchain technology.

A brief introduction to blockchain networks was provided, highlighting their unique

characteristics compared to traditional transaction systems. The team explained how
blockchain facilitates transparent, secure, and efficient trades. They discussed the company's
role in monitoring and analyzing these blockchain trades across platforms, focusing on how
transactions are broadly classified into three categories: Open, Closed, and Liquidation.

• Open Trades: These refer to active trades where an investor has not yet realized their
profit or loss. The company closely tracks the volume and type of these trades to
understand market trends and investor behavior.
• Closed Trades: Once a trade is finalized, it is classified as closed. The analysis of
these trades helps the company assess overall market performance and individual
trading strategies.
• Liquidation Events: These occur when a trader's position is forcibly closed due to
insufficient margin. Monitoring these events is crucial for risk management and
understanding market volatility.

Tracking and Analysis

The presenters detailed how the company monitors transactions by identifying which account
holders (addresses) are going long or short, as well as tracking their trading volumes. By
recognizing the top traders, the company can analyze their strategies and data, with the aim of
responsibly replicating successful tactics after evaluating the risk involved.

To achieve these objectives, the team utilizes various analytical and statistical platforms,
including Dune, Arbiscan, and Alchemy. Each platform provides different functionalities
that contribute to the comprehensive monitoring and analysis of blockchain trades.
Data Analytics

The session highlighted the significance of data analytics in deriving meaningful insights
from the transactions tracked. By employing sophisticated techniques, the company can
interpret the data to identify patterns and inform strategic decisions.

Hands-On Task

To conclude the orientation, each new team member was assigned a practical task: executing
a pre-written SQL command in the Dune extractor platform. This task involved filtering the
top 10 transaction addresses and merging data across the three trade types—Open, Close, and
Liquidation Events. This hands-on exercise aimed to enhance our understanding of data
manipulation within the blockchain context.

Conclusion

The orientation provided valuable insights into the company’s operations and the pivotal role
of blockchain technology in its business model. The combination of theoretical knowledge
and practical application will undoubtedly equip new team members with the necessary tools
to contribute effectively to the organization.
