1.04 ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS


A. Coordination:
1. Coordinate sizes of raceways, boxes, and equipment enclosures installed under other
sections with the actual conductors to be installed, including adjustments for conductor
sizes increased for voltage drop.
2. Coordinate the installation of direct burial cable with other trades to avoid conflicts with
piping or other potential conflicts. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
3. Coordinate with electrical equipment installed under other sections to provide
terminations suitable for use with the conductors to be installed.
4. Notify Engineer of any conflicts with or deviations from the contract documents. Obtain
direction before proceeding with work.
1.05 SUBMITTALS
COMPLIED

B. Schedule of Cable types and area of application. COMPLIED
C. Product Data: Provide manufacturer's standard catalog pages and data sheets for COMPLIED
conductors and cables, including detailed information on materials, construction, ratings,
listings, and available sizes, configurations, and stranding.
D. Sustainable Design Documentation: Submit manufacturer's product data on conductor and COMPLIED
cable showing compliance with specified lead content requirements.
E. Manufactured Wiring System Shop Drawings: Provide plan views indicating proposed system
layout with components identified; indicate branch circuit connections.
F. Engineering Data: Indicate voltage drop and ampacity calculations for copper conductors.
The voltage drop shall be inline to DEWA requirements. The maximun voltage drop from the
point of supply to any point/ equipment, appliances and apparatus connected in the wiring
installation shall not exceed 4% of the nominal voltage of the electric supply, unless otherwise CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
specified.
G. Include proposed modifications to raceways, boxes, wiring gutters, enclosures, etc. to
accommodate substituted conductors.
H. Field Quality Control Test Reports.

G. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicate application conditions and limitations of use


stipulated by product testing agency. Include instructions for storage, handling, protection,
examination, preparation, and installation of product.
H. Project Record Documents: Record actual installed circuiting arrangements. Record actual
routing for underground circuits.
CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
I. Maintenance Materials: Furnish the following for the Employer's/ the Operator’s use in
maintenance of project.
1. See Schedule of Project Requirements for details
2. Extra Manufactured Wiring Systems Cable Assemblies: One of each configuration, 6
feet (2000 mm) length.
1.06 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Conform to requirements of BS 7671. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE

B. Maintain at the project site a copy of each referenced document that prescribes execution CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
requirements.
C. Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in COMPLIED
this section with minimum three years documented experience.
D. All the cables and wires shall be from a BASEC (British Approvals Service for Cables) COMPLIED FOR NON FIRE RATED
approved manufacturer with product certification and shall bare the BASEC approved CABLES. FIRE RATED CABLES ARE LPCB
marking. AND DCD APPROVED
1.07 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Receive, inspect, handle, and store conductors and cables in accordance with manufacturer's CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
instructions.
1.08 FIELD CONDITIONS
A. Do not install or otherwise handle thermoplastic-insulated conductors at temperatures lower
than 14 degrees F (-10 degrees C), unless otherwise permitted by manufacturer's CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
instructions. When installation below this temperature is unavoidable, notify Engineer and
obtain direction before proceeding with work.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 CONDUCTOR AND CABLE APPLICATIONS
A. Do not use conductors and cables for applications other than as permitted by BS 7671 and COMPLIED
product listing.
B. Provide single conductor building wire installed in suitable raceway unless otherwise COMPLIED
indicated, permitted, or required.
C. Nonmetallic-sheathed cable is permitted only as follows:
1. Where not otherwise restricted, may be used:
a. For branch circuit wiring in dry locations within one- and two-family dwellings and
their attached or detached garages, and their storage buildings.
b. For branch circuit wiring in dry locations within multifamily dwellings permitted to
be of Types III, IV, and V construction. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
2. In addition to other applicable restrictions, may not be used:
a. Where exposed to view.
b. Where exposed to damage.
c. For damp, wet, or corrosive locations.
D. Armoured cable is permitted only as follows:
1. Where not otherwise restricted, may be used:
a. All low voltage cables (600V) to be laid underground or externally shall be steel COMPLIED
wire armoured XLPE and be installed at a minimum depth of 600mm below finished
ground level
b. Generally all cables shall be multi-core; Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) suitably COMPLIED
rated XLPE/ SWA / LSZH / copper steel wire armoured and complies with BS and
shall be installed according to IEE standards. Multicore XLPE/SWA/PVC copper
cables shall be used for all external cabling.
2. In addition to other applicable restrictions, may not be used:
a. Unless approved by the Engineer.
b. Where not approved for use by the authority having jurisdiction. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
c. Where exposed to view, without approval.

d. Where exposed to damage.


e. For damp, wet, or corrosive locations. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
f. For isolated ground circuits.
E. Rubber insulated flexible cable is permitted only as follows.
1. Where not otherwise restricted, may be used:
a. For external landscape and pergola lighting installations use armoured cable.
HO7RN F rubber cables shall be used for final termination from weatherproof
junction box to light fitting. These installations shall be carried out on Engineer’s
approval only.
NOT PART OF THIS SUBMITTAL
b. All connections to vibrating equipment shall be rubber insulated and rubber
sheathed of appropriate size.
c. Final connections from isolator to starter and motor terminals shall be made with
rubber insulated rubber sheathed cable in PVC coated GI flexible conduit, allowing
sufficient slack to permit adjustment of motors
2.02 CONDUCTOR AND CABLE GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
A. All cables must continuously run from source to termination without any joint in between. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
B. Cable reels must be supported. Under no circumstances cable shall be issued from
unsupported reels. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE

C. Provide products listed, classified, and labeled as suitable for the purpose intended.
D. Provide new conductors and cables manufactured not more than one year prior to installation. COMPLIED

E. Unless specifically indicated to be excluded, provide all required conduit, boxes, wiring, CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
connectors, etc. as required for a complete operating system.
F. Conductors for Grounding and Bonding: Also comply with Section 26 0526. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
G. Conductors and Cables Installed in Cable Tray: Listed and labeled as suitable for cable tray

H. Conductors and Cables Installed Where Exposed to Direct Rays of Sun: Listed and labeled NOTED
as UV and sunlight resistant.
I. Conductors and Cables Installed Exposed in Spaces Used for Environmental Air (only where
CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
specifically permitted): Plenum rated, listed and labeled as suitable for use in return air
plenums.
J. Conductor Material:
1. Provide copper conductors only. Aluminum conductors are not acceptable for this COMPLIED
project. Conductor sizes indicated are based on copper.
2. Plain, stranded, compacted copper conductors as per BS 6360/IEC 60228. COMPLIED TO BS EN 60228.
BS 6360 IS OBSOLETE AND IS REPLACED BY BS EN 60228 / IEC 60228
K. Minimum Conductor Size:
1. Branch Circuits: 2.5 sqmm.
2. Control Circuits: 14 AWG.
3. Provide Wiring cross section considering the maximum voltage drop as per DEWA
regulation.
4. Unless otherwise specified, Circuits shall be wired with PVC insulated conductors of the
following minimum sizes:
a. Lighting: 2.5mm² or 4mm² + 2.5mm² or 4mm² earth wire with 10A or 16A MCB
rating.
b. Switched socket outlets: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire with 20/32A MCB rating
considering Radial / Ring circuit
c. Fan coil units: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire with 20A MCB rating
d. Convection heaters: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
e. Unit heaters: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire
f. Water heaters: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire up to 3kW with 20A MCB rating.
g. Incinerators: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire
h. Bells: 2.5mm²
i. Signs: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire
j. Motors -
1) Single phase (up to and including 2kW):4mm² + 4mm² earth wire
2) Three phase (up to and including 3kW): 3 x 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire
3) Three phase (above 3kW, up to and including 10kW): 3 x 6mm² + 6mm² earth
wire
k. Single phase fans: 4mm² + 4mm² earth wire

4. The above sizes are indicative and shall be superseded by specific DB Schedules and CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
wiring regulations by respective local authorities under jurisdiction. The contractor is to
follow the more stringent of the two.
N. Conductor Colour Coding:
1. Colour code conductors as indicated unless otherwise required by the authority having
jurisdiction. Maintain consistent colour coding throughout project.

2.06 WIRING CONNECTORS
A. Circuit wiring shall be of the loop-in system, and no joints of wiring will be permitted except
at outlet points, unless otherwise approved in specific.
B. Description: Wiring connectors appropriate for the application, suitable for use with the CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
conductors to be connected, and listed as complying with IEC standards as applicable.
C. Connectors for Grounding and Bonding: Comply with Section 26 0526.
D. Wiring Connectors for Splices and Taps:

1. Copper Conductors Size 8 AWG and Smaller: Use twist-on insulated spring connectors.
2. Copper Conductors Size 6 AWG and Larger: Use mechanical connectors or CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
compression connectors.
E. Wiring Connectors for Terminations:
1. Provide terminal lugs for connecting conductors to equipment furnished with
terminations designed for terminal lugs.
2. Provide compression adapters for connecting conductors to equipment furnished with
mechanical lugs when only compression connectors are specified.
3. Where over-sized conductors are larger than the equipment terminations can
accommodate, provide connectors suitable for reducing to appropriate size, but not less
than required for the rating of the overcurrent protective device.
4. Provide motor pigtail connectors for connecting motor leads in order to facilitate
disconnection.
5. Conductors for Control Circuits: Use crimped terminals for all connections.
F. Do not use insulation-piercing or insulation-displacement connectors designed for use with
conductors without stripping insulation. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE

G. Do not use push-in wire connectors as a substitute for twist-on insulated spring connectors.
H. Twist-on Insulated Spring Connectors: Rated 600 V, 221 degrees F (105 degrees C) for
standard applications and 302 degrees F (150 degrees C) for high temperature applications;
pre-filled with sealant and listed as complying with UL 486D for damp and wet locations.
I. Mechanical Connectors: Provide bolted type or set-screw type.
J. Compression Connectors: Provide circumferential type or hex type crimp configuration.
K. Crimped Terminals: Nylon-insulated, with insulation grip and terminal configuration suitable
for connection to be made.
L. Wiring Connectors for Lighting Connections: Ceramic connector with adequate rating,
installed within junction boxes.

2.07 FIRE-RATED STEEL WIRE ARMOURED CABLE


A. Description: Type AC cable listed and labeled as complying with BS 7846 and F120 Fire Test
as per BS 8491.
B. Conductor Stranding:
1. Size 4 sq.mm and Smaller: Stranded.
2. Size 6 sq.mm and Larger: Stranded.

2.08 WIRING ACCESSORIES
A. Electrical Tape:
1. Vinyl Color Coding Electrical Tape: Integrally colored to match color code indicated;
listed as complying with UL 510; minimum thickness of 7 mil (0.18 mm); resistant to
abrasion, corrosion, and sunlight; suitable for continuous temperature environment up
to 221 degrees F (105 degrees C).
2. Moisture Sealing Electrical Tape: Insulating mastic compound laminated to flexible, all-
weather vinyl backing; minimum thickness of 90 mil (2.3 mm).
B. Heat Shrink Tubing: Heavy-wall, split-resistant, with factory-applied adhesive; rated 600 V; CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
suitable for direct burial applications; listed as complying with UL 486D.
C. Oxide Inhibiting Compound: Listed; suitable for use with the conductors or cables to be
installed.

3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that interior of building has been protected from weather.
B. Verify that work likely to damage wire and cable has been completed.
C. Verify that raceways, boxes, and equipment enclosures are installed and are properly sized CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
to accommodate conductors and cables in accordance with BS 7671.
D. Verify that field measurements are as shown on the drawings.
E. Verify that conditions are satisfactory for installation prior to starting work.
3.02 PREPARATION
A. Clean raceways thoroughly to remove foreign materials before installing conductors and

cables.
3.03 INSTALLATION
A. The Contractor shall include in his tender for all OUTGOING electrical wiring between the
relevant switch panels and his equipment, which wiring shall generally be carried out in
surface-run Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) suitably rated XLPE/ SWA / LSZH / copper,
steel wire armoured, multi-core cable. Such surface-run cabling shall be adequately secured
to prevent sagging and run in strictly horizontal and vertical planes in neat, orderly fashion,
all to the entire satisfaction of the Consulting Engineers. The Contractor will also be
responsible for liaising with local authorities under jurisdiction and obtain LV shop drawing
approval.
B. Circuiting Requirements:
1. Unless dimensioned, circuit routing indicated is diagrammatic.
2. When circuit destination is indicated and routing is not shown, determine exact routing
required.
3. Arrange circuiting to minimize splices.
4. Include circuit lengths required to install connected devices within 10 ft (3.0 m) of
location shown.
5. Maintain separation of Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 remote-control, signaling, and
power-limited circuits.
6. Maintain separation of wiring for emergency systems in accordance with IEC.
7. Circuiting Adjustments: Unless otherwise indicated, when branch circuits are shown as
separate, combining them together in a single raceway is not permitted.
8. Common Neutrals: Unless otherwise indicated, sharing of neutral/grounded conductors
among up to three single phase branch circuits of different phases installed in the same

raceway is not permitted. Provide dedicated neutral/grounded conductor for each
individual branch circuit.
C. Install products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
D. Install conductors and cable in a neat and workmanlike manner in accordance with BS 7671.
E. Installation in Raceway:
1. Tape ends of conductors and cables to prevent infiltration of moisture and other
contaminants.
2. Pull all conductors and cables together into raceway at same time.
3. Do not damage conductors and cables or exceed manufacturer's recommended
maximum pulling tension and sidewall pressure.
4. Use suitable wire pulling lubricant where necessary, except when lubricant is not
recommended by the manufacturer.
F. Exposed Cable Installation (only where specifically permitted):
1. Route cables parallel or perpendicular to building structural members and surfaces.
2. Protect cables from physical damage.
3. Protect cables from sunshine
G. Direct Burial Cable Installation:
1. Provide trenching and backfilling in accordance to Engineer's approval.
2. Install cable with minimum cover of 24 inches (610 mm) unless otherwise indicated or
required.
3. Protect cables from damage in accordance with NFPA 70.

4. Provide underground warning tape in accordance with Section 26 0553 along entire
cable length.
H. Installation in Cable Tray: Also comply with Section 26 0536.
I. Paralleled Conductors: Install conductors of the same length and terminate in the same
manner.
J. Secure and support conductors and cables in accordance with NFPA 70 using suitable
supports and methods approved by the authority having jurisdiction. Provide independent
support from building structure. Do not provide support from raceways, piping, ductwork, or
other systems.
1. Installation Above Suspended Ceilings: Do not provide support from ceiling support
system. Do not provide support from ceiling grid or allow conductors and cables to lay
on ceiling tiles.
2. Installation in Vertical Raceways: Provide supports where vertical rise exceeds
permissible limits.
K. Install conductors with a minimum of 12 inches (300 mm) of slack at each outlet.
L. Where conductors are installed in enclosures for future termination by others, provide a
minimum of 5 feet (1.5 m) of slack.
M. Neatly train and bundle conductors inside boxes, wireways, panelboards and other
equipment enclosures.
N. Group or otherwise identify neutral/grounded conductors with associated ungrounded
conductors inside enclosures in accordance with NFPA 70.
O. Group or otherwise identify neutral/grounded conductors with associated ungrounded
conductors inside enclosures in accordance with BS 7671.
P. Make wiring connections using specified wiring connectors.
1. Make splices and taps only in accessible boxes. Do not pull splices into raceways or
make splices in conduit bodies or wiring gutters.
2. Remove appropriate amount of conductor insulation for making connections without
cutting, nicking or damaging conductors.
3. Do not remove conductor strands to facilitate insertion into connector. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
4. Clean contact surfaces on conductors and connectors to suitable remove corrosion,
oxides, and other contaminates. Do not use wire brush on plated connector surfaces.
5. Mechanical Connectors: Secure connections according to manufacturer's
recommended torque settings.
6. Compression Connectors: Secure connections using manufacturer's recommended
tools and dies.
Q. Insulate splices and taps that are made with uninsulated connectors using methods suitable
for the application, with insulation and mechanical strength at least equivalent to unspliced
conductors.
1. Dry Locations: Use insulating covers specifically designed for the connectors, electrical
tape, or heat shrink tubing.
a. For taped connections, first apply adequate amount of rubber splicing electrical
tape or electrical filler tape, followed by outer covering of vinyl insulating electrical
tape.
b. For taped connections likely to require re-entering, including motor leads, first apply
varnished cambric electrical tape, followed by adequate amount of rubber splicing
electrical tape, followed by outer covering of vinyl insulating electrical tape.
2. Damp Locations: Use insulating covers specifically designed for the connectors,
electrical tape, or heat shrink tubing.
a. For connections with insulating covers, apply outer covering of moisture sealing
electrical tape.
b. For taped connections, follow same procedure as for dry locations but apply outer
covering of moisture sealing electrical tape.
3. Wet Locations: Not permitted.
R. Insulate ends of spare conductors using vinyl insulating electrical tape.
S. Field-Applied Color Coding: Where vinyl color coding electrical tape is used in lieu of
integrally colored insulation as permitted in Part 2 under "Color Coding", apply half
overlapping turns of tape at each termination and at each location conductors are accessible.
T. Identify conductors and cables in accordance with Section 26 0553.

U. Install firestopping to preserve fire resistance rating of partitions and other elements, using
materials and methods as per Engineer's approval.
V. Unless specifically indicated to be excluded, provide final connections to all equipment and
devices, including those furnished by others, as required for a complete operating system.
W. Multicore XLPE/SWA/PVC copper cables will be used for all external cabling. All cables are
to be installed in conjunction with approved glands (BW for dry areas, CW for wet areas,
EExd for Zone 1 classified areas and neoprene shrouds at all terminations including neoprene
seals for water proof glands at gland-panel interface. PVC cable glands are not acceptable
for termination to mechanical equipment.
X. All wires and multi core Cables connected to the equipment fed from emergency generator
supply shall be fire rated.
Y. Wiring will generally be single core LSZH insulated non-sheathed stranded high conductivity
plain annealed copper conductor cables.
Z. For the use of electrical wiring in conduits, use 20mm conduit as a minimum size. Black PVC
conduit may be used on chased runs and embedded in slab.
AA. For surface singular runs in plant rooms, use galvanised conduits. Multiple runs of GI conduits
on surface is not acceptable, use trunking to approval.
AB. PVC conduit on surface is only acceptable above ceiling void. No life and safety system
cables shall be run in surface PV conduits.
AC. Conduit shall be neatly cut, reamed and threaded, used in conjunction with screwed fittings.
At all conduit terminations in wall boxes, switch panels, etc., use two locknuts and a female
bush at end, alternatively use male bushes and connect to conduit with sockets. All conduits
provided for future requirements and left unwired, shall be fitted with nylon draw-wires.
Provide inspection facilities at every third change of direction in a run of conduit and at
maximum intervals of 10 meters on straight runs. Use of tees and elbows will only be allowed
in exceptional cases and shall be inspection type. Affix exposed conduits with steel saddles
of same finish as conduit on centers not exceeding 2 meters.
AD. Earthing shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of wiring regulations, CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
earthing connections being executed with appropriate copper earthing strip using brass bolts,
nuts and washers. Ensure continuity to main building earth provided by others.
AE. Each run of PVC SWA or XLPE SWA multi-core cable shall carry an additional conductor to
be used for earth continuity and properly made-off for this purpose.
AF. All connections to vibrating equipment shall be made so as not to impose strain on cables or
equipment and shall be of sufficient length to allow full adjustment of motors on slide rails.
Make connections to vibrating equipment in the following manner:
AG. On cabled systems, leave sufficient cable slack to allow free cable movement to take up
vibration. Cable shall be rubber insulated and rubber sheathed of appropriate size.
AH. Use flexible conduit system, a separate earth continuity conductor being run inside such
flexible conduit.
AI. All flexible conduits shall be PVC coated GI flexible of appropriate IP rating.
AJ. Min IP rating of installations in plant rooms and other wet areas like kitchen, laundry etc. shall
be minimum IP 54 55 and is applicable for all electrical elements within the area.
AK. For external areas exposed to weather elements min IP rating is IP 65. Wiring accessories in
wet areas and at external locations shall be of MK, Master seal range or equivalent with
recessed mounting bezel.
AL. Isolators and Control panels exposed to weather elements shall be of GRP enclosure. Fire
rated Isolators to be provided for all Fire, Life and Safety Equipment.
AM. All installations at building expansion joints shall be to the approval of the Consulting
Engineer.
AN. Wiring shall only be carried out after the conduit installation and plasterwork is completed, but
before paintwork is commenced.
AO. Circuit wiring shall be of the loop-in system, and no joints of wiring will be permitted except at
outlet points.
AP. Unless specifically permitted no more than one circuit shall be run in one conduit. No open
wiring will be permitted anywhere.

AQ. No open wiring will be permitted anywhere. Circuits of different voltages (230V and 12/24V)
and control cables shall be run in independent conduits and shall be segregated at all times.
AR. Incoming and outgoing circuits shall be run in separate containment also. Each kitchen
equipment should have a dedicated circuit irrespective of its rated wattage.
AS. Wire end sealing ferrules/lugs with insulating collars shall be provided and needs to be
crimped with appropriate crimping tools for all wiring including field wiring by contractor.
AT. Where cables are to run on surface, they shall be supported on HDRF (heavy duty return
flange) hot dipped galvanised type cable trays or cable ladders, fixed to the building structure.
AU. In open areas at roof and the vertical runs etc. shall be covered with appropriate factory built
powder coated ventilated covers.
AV. For multiple cable runs, adequate space (one time the largest cable diameter) must be left
between cables to allow heat dissipation.
AW. Multiple cable runs must be cleated in such a manner as to allow for the removal of any one
cable without affecting other cables in the run.
AX. All cleats for vertical rising cables shall be proprietary and should consider dressing of the
associated earth cable also.
AY. Spacing of the saddles and sets or bends in cables shall be in accordance with the Standard
Wiring Regulations.
AZ. No cable fixing shall be installed within 300mm of an expansion joint. All works shall be to
approval of the Engineer.
BA. All low voltage cables (600V) to be laid underground or externally shall be steel wire armoured
XLPE and be installed at a minimum depth of 600mm below finished ground level.
BB. No joints shall be permitted in any underground cable; except where a cable run exceeds the
standard drum length, a joint box will be allowed.
BC. Joint boxes shall be installed in an easily accessible position, in a watertight manhole with
cover to permit maintenance and repair. Anti-rock water tight heavy duty cast iron steel covers
with embossed respective service detail tag shall be used for the electrical manholes. CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
BD. Joints are to be clearly marked on final drawings and shall be to Engineer’s approval.
BE. The Contractor shall ensure that all cable sleeves and builder’s work openings are
coordinated and are in position and correctly located.
BF. Sleeves shall consist of at least 110mm diameter, uPVC of suitable strength. Only "easy
sweeping bends" shall be used where required.
BG. The ends of cable sleeves entering a building shall be filled and waterproofed with cable
compound of low melting point after the cables are installed. Appropriate puddle flange shall
also be installed to the approval of the Engineer.
BH. Where required, cable markers shall be installed for all underground cables. Cable markers
shall be in compliance with the local regulations and be inscribed with the cable designations
as specified.
BI. Cable markers shall be provided wherever a cable changes direction and at intervals not more
than 30m along straight runs. In addition, suitable danger cable tiles shall be placed 200mm
above all underground cables and danger warning tapes shall be installed 400mm above
cables, clearly indication the presence of electrical cables below.
BJ. The bending radii of cables shall conform to British Standards and manufacturers
specifications.
BK. All vertical rising cables shall be carried on appropriately sized cable trays /ladders and are to
be suitably cleated to the trays. The cleats spacing shall be as per manufacturers
recommendation but shall be within local authority guidelines.
BL. Fire resistant cables shall be dressed with stainless steel cable ties for integrity during fire.
BM. The Contractor must ensure that the correct size and number of cores are used. In addition,
cables are to be suitably rated for temperature and volt-drop considerations in accordance
with British Standards and local authorities under jurisdiction's regulations.
BN. Flexible cabling for fixed equipment connection and light fittings shall be via standard heat
resisting (105°C or more) PVC insulated and sheathed flexible cords. Sizes to suit the
equipment and load and shall be to DEWA’s requirement.
BO. Earth terminations on equipments including water heaters shall be via insulated lugs.

BP. All exposed parts of cable lugs shall be insulated through heat shrinkable sleeves.
BQ. For external soil application joint from armoured cable to low voltage transformer shall be via
Type tested Junction Box with a minimum rated IP 67. All external Junction Boxes shall or
installed above the ground level with appropriate support and installation shall be subject to
DEWA and Engineer’s approval. The external Junction Boxes shall also be encapsulated in
fast setting permanently setting elastic sealing compound. 220V connections shall be
physically protected in enclosure from direct hit by the gardener. All external drivers shall be
of IP68 unless otherwise mentioned /agreed and subject to Engineers approval.
Weatherproof connectors only allowed to use for any external connection to drivers, lights, or
any other connections as applicable.
BR. For external landscape and pergola lighting installations use HO7RN-F rubber insulated and
rubber sheathed flexible cables terminated onto water tight GI round dome box with hook and
with back entry. These installations shall be carried out on Engineer’s approval only.
BS. Un-armoured cables shall be terminated via A1/A2 compression gland.
BT. Single core cables shall be run on trefoil formation, aluminium cleated to Engineer’s approval.
Armour of single core shall be terminated on either ends with an insulated adaptor.
BU. Single core cables shall be glanded on non ferrous glanding plates.
BV. All the cables and wires shall be from a BASEC (British Approvals Service for Cables)
approved manufacturer with product certification and shall bare the BASEC approved
marking.
BW. All cables that are required for life safety systems shall be fireproof type and shall be red in
colour unless otherwise specified.
BX. All wiring associated with the fire detection and evacuation system shall be 300/500V
enhanced grade fire resistant red colour to BS-5839-1, BS8434-2 (9300C for 120min, 60min
with fire and mechanical shock plus 60min with fire, mechanical shock and water), EN50200
PH120 (120min at 8300C with fire and mechanical shock), BS 6387 (CWZ) and LPCB CONTRACTOR’S SCOPE
approved. Fire rated cables will be used to supply power to the following loads:
1. Smoke control systems
2. Fire pumps
3. Sprinkler systems
4. Smoke Dampers
5. Fire alarm and detection systems
6. Emergency lighting systems
7. Special fire extinguishing systems if any
8. Hard wired mechanical system interlocks

BY. Fire sealant in compliance with local authority requirements shall be provided at cable
ENTRY/EXIT and at cables through wooden structures.
BZ. Contractor to ensure to provide the correct Isolator panel size provided for Fire Pump and
Chillers, etc. to avoid sharp cable bends in the enclosure.

3.04 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL


A. Perform inspection, testing, and adjusting in accordance with MEP Schedule of Project
Requirements.
B. Inspect and test in accordance with BS 7671.
C. Perform inspections and tests in accordance with BS 7671. The insulation resistance test is
required for all conductors. The resistance test for parallel conductors listed as optional is not
required.
1. Disconnect surge protective devices (SPDs) prior to performing any high potential
testing. Replace SPDs damaged by performing high potential testing with SPDs
connected.
D. Correct deficiencies and replace damaged or defective conductors and cables.
