Significance of the Study
The results of the study will be beneficial for the students, parents, teachers, future researchers and
the educational institutions. For the students because they will be able to fully understand the
importance of digital literacy in their current and future academic endeavors. For the parents and
guardians so that they can recognize the significance of guiding their children towards the proper use of
the different media platforms for a academic purposes. For the teachers and faculty so that they will be
fully aware of the importance of incorporating the different digital platforms and communication
technologies on their lesson plan to improve their quality of teaching. For future researchers who may
use this study as their reference for their own research. And finally, for the educational institutions so
they will be aware of the current situation of digital literacy among the students and they will be able to
formulate solutions that can improve the current situation.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will include all of the information necessary in understanding the importance of digital
literacy in preparing students for their future college courses. It will discuss the current state of digital
literacy among the students specially regarding their usage of the different digital platforms and
communication technologies. The study will also discuss the perception of the students in regards to the
importance of digital literacy for their future academic endeavors in college. Furthermore, it will not
discuss the information regarding the utilization of the digital platforms outside educational purposes. It
will also not go further in discussing the current state of information literacy and media literacy among
the students.
