I. Prerequisite Skills counts the number of occurrences of an outcome in an experiment: (a) table; (b) tree diagram; (c)
systematic listing; and (d) fundamental counting principle.
III. Procedure These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by
demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by
providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions
about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
A. Daily Routine
(Prayer/Checking of
Attendance/Mood) The class will start with a prayer through a video presentation.
Class greetings.
The teacher will present the class rules.
1. Always mute your mic while the teacher is discussing the lesson.
2. You may raise your hand if you want to ask question for clarification and answering question.
3. Respect each other.
Note: checking of attendance is with the aide of an attendance checker.
Priming
Review/Motivation
The teacher will let the students play the Kahoot game for checking students’ previous knowledge
in their previous lesson. In every question presented in the game, the teacher will process the
result of the students’ answer
B. Activity The teacher will asked a question to the class, “What is the chance that it will rain today?” through
PowerPoint presentation.
Varied answers from the students may arise.
The teacher will process the varied answers coming from the students.
Guide questions:
1. How did you come up with your answers?
2. What is the chance that rain will likely to occur? Unlikely to occur?
C. Analysis/Discussion The teacher will present the lesson objectives. (through PowerPoint Presentation)
Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, students must have:
1. defined probability;
2. find the probability of simple events; and
3. express appreciation on the importance of probability in real life through their decision
making.
The teacher will present and discuss the lesson.
● Probability – is the measure of how likely an event is to occur. The more likely an event
is to occur, the higher its probability. The less likely an event is to occur, the lower its
probability.
● Simple event – it is an event which has a single outcome.
● The probability of simple event is the ratio that compares the number of favorable
outcomes to the number of possible outcomes.
● Favorable outcomes - it is the outcome that we are looking for in an experiment or
event.
● Possible outcomes - all possible results of an experiment or event. All of the possible
outcomes of an experiment form the elements of a sample space.
● P(Event)= 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠/𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓
𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
Example 1: In tossing a coin, what is the probability of getting a “head”?
1. How many favorable outcomes do we have?
Answer: 1
2. How many possible outcomes?
Answer: 2
Therefore, the probability of getting a head when you tossed a coin is ½.
● Probability Line
● Probability Rules
1. The probability of any event is a number (either a fraction, a decimal, or a percent)
2. If an event will never happen, then its probability is 0.
3. If an event is sure to happen, then the probability is 1.
4. The sum of the probabilities of all outcomes in the sample space is 1.
Guided Practice:
Problem 1: The weather forecast shows 70% rain.
P(rain) = 70% or .7 or 7/10
Problem 2: When a single die is rolled, find the probability of getting an 8.
Solution:
Since the sample space consists of 1, 2,3,4,5 and 6.
Therefore, it is impossible to get an 8.
Hence, P(8) = 0/6 = 0
Problem 3: If a fair coin is flipped,
P(T) = ½ and P(H) = ½
P(T) + P(H) = 1
½+½=1
Independent Practice
Activity 2 : “Count and Answer”
Directions: Read the problems carefully and answer it..
1. Carlo is asked to choose a number from 1 to 20. What is the probability of choosing a
number that is divisible by 5?
2. A bag contains 7 white balls and 11 orange balls. If a ball is drawn at random from the
bag, what is the probability that the ball is green?
3. The spinner may stop on any one of the four numbered sectors of the circle. Assume
that the spinner will not stop on the line between two sectors. Find the probability that
the spinner will stop on number less than 5.
4. A student is chosen from a certain group. There are 9 girls and 8 boys in that group.
What is the probability that the chosen student is a boy? probability that the chosen
student is a girl?
Key answer: (1.) 20% (2). 0 (3.) 1 (4). 1
D. Abstraction As a recap, what is probability?
The probability rules state that:
1. The probability of any event which is a number either a ____, a ____ and a _____.
2. If an event will never happen, then its probability is __.
3. If an event is sure to happen, then the probability is __.
4. The sum of the probabilities of all outcomes in the sample space is __
E. Application The teacher will give instruction to students so that they will be divided into four groups. Each
group will be given their respective problem to be analyze and answered. Each group will be
given 3 minutes to discuss their answers and present their answers in class.
Students will present their answer in the class.
Activity 3: “Lets Work Together”
Group 1 Situation: Pick and Carry is having an IPOD giveaway. They put all the IPOD shuffles in
a bag. Customers may choose an IPOD without looking at the color. Inside the bag, there are 4
orange, 5 blue, 6 green and 5 pink IPODS. If Maria chooses one IPOD at random, what is the
probability that she will choose an orange IPOD?
Group 2 Situation:
A class has 18 boys and 9 girls. What is the probability that a randomly selected student is a girl?
Group 3 Situation:
If a single digit is selected at random from the number 224, 839, 287, what is the probability of the
digit being even?
Group 4 Situation:
There are 4 blue marbles, 5 red marbles, 1 green marble, and 2 black marbles in a bag. What is
the probability of selecting red marbles?
IV. Assessment How do you know students met the learning objectives and targets?
The teacher will give an assessment through google form link.
Activity 4:”See my Prob-Ability”
General Direction:
1.In answering the quiz, students should go to this link or capture the QR code given below:
2. You are only given 5 minutes to answer the quiz.
3. Once done, click submit.
V. Assignment Include here activities for application/remediation/enrichment.
The students will answer the assignment.
Direction: In a ½ sheet of paper, list down at least three situations from your experiences,
wherein you wondered for a probability of a certain event.
VI. Reflection Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your student’s progress this week. What works? What else needs to
be done to help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can
ask them relevant questions.
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation who scored
below 80%
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the
lesson?
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work?
VII. Modification/Remarks What changes do you want to make in this lesson for future delivery.
