Program Name: MTech (CSE) Semester : II
Course Name: Research Methodology Course Code: CSEG7034
Max. Marks : 10
Nos. of page(s): 1
Instructions: Last date for submission is March 28, 2025
Objective:
This assignment aims to familiarize students with research paper writing and formatting in LaTeX
by reproducing a published research paper from a top-tier Computer Science journal in their area of
interest. The assignment will help students understand research paper structure, formatting
mathematical equations, tables, figures, citations, and references in LaTeX.
Assignment Task:
Each student must select a published research paper from a reputed Computer Science journal (e.g.,
IEEE Transactions, ACM Computing Surveys, Springer, Elsevier, Nature, etc.), relevant to their
research interest, and reproduce a draft version of the paper using LaTeX. The draft should closely
follow the original paper’s structure while ensuring proper formatting and presentation.
Paper Structure (Headings to Follow in LaTeX):
1. Title and Author Information (Use placeholders instead of actual author names)
2. Abstract (Summarize the original paper)
3. Introduction
o Overview of the problem
o Research motivation and objectives
o Contributions of the paper
4. Mathematical Formulations (Reproduce key equations using LaTeX)
5. Figures and Tables (Use LaTeX to format graphs, images, and tables)
6. Methodology (Summarize the approach followed in the original paper)
7. Results and Discussion (Reproduce key results in tabular or graphical format)
8. Conclusion
9. Citations and References (Use BibTeX to manage references, following IEEE/ACM/APA
format)
Submission Guidelines:
• Format: LaTeX (Submit the .tex file and compiled PDF)
• Page Limit: as per the chosen paper
• Tools: Overleaf, TeXStudio, or any LaTeX editor of choice
• Deadline: March 28, 2025
• Submission Mode: LMS
Evaluation Criteria:
• LaTeX Formatting & Structure (20%) – Proper use of sections, fonts, and templates.
• Mathematical Equations (20%) – Correct rendering of formulas and notations.
• Figures and Tables (20%) – Accurate placement and formatting using LaTeX.
• Citations & Referencing (20%) – Proper use of BibTeX for references.
• Overall Presentation (20%) – Clarity, professionalism, and adherence to research paper
standards
