Directions on How to Create the
LARGE Foldable
1.) Color all of your pieces and then cut them out.
2.) Place both of these pieces down first in the center of your page or notebook
(the two pieces are the “inside of the lungs piece” and the “diaphragm piece).
NOTE: Here’s a way to check to see if the spot you choose is okay before you glue it down. Grab both
rib cage pieces and place them on top to see if the foldable fits on the page. If it does, then you are
okay to glue down the first two pieces (the “inside the lung piece” and the “diaphragm piece”).

3.) Next grab the lungs pieces (the “top portion of the lungs pieces”) and place
them on top. Make sure you align the tracheas. Once you fill that it is aligned, go
ahead and glue down. You will ONLY PUT GLUE on the white strips.
Put GLUE only on
the white strips!!
Do not put it on
the lungs. You
want to be able to
open the lungs!

4.) Now grab the two pieces of the rib cage. Glue it down on top of all the other
pieces. Make sure to apply glue ONLY to the WHITE STRIPS.
5.) CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU ARE DONE! Add in the vocabulary term labels if
you want.

Don’t forget that this is editable! So if you want to make the terms simpler, then
do it! For example, instead of alveoli maybe you want to use the term “air
sacs.” Maybe you don’t even need the vocabulary term labels bronchus and
bronchioles. Then delete them. =)

Man Foldable
© 2015 Katie Garcia
Directions on How to Create the
Man Foldable
Color the man figure. Then cut out the man figure
following the dotted lines. Apply glue to the back of man
figure worksheet EXCEPT in the box section. You want
to be able to open the box flaps, so DO NOT PUT GLUE
on the back of the box section. Then insert the figures
you cut out into the box the same way as you did to
create the large foldable (pg. 4-7) except instead of
making sure that you align it in the center of a page,
make sure to align it in the center of the box section.
Do NOT APPLY glue
to the back of this
SECTION because
you want to be able to
open this part to
insert figures.
NOTE - Don’t forget that this is EDITABLE! So if you want to change terms to
make them fit your grade level, you can do so! For example, I might change the
term trachea to “windpipe.” It’s up to you!

Don’t forget!!
From this part on,
you will ONLY put
glue on the white
strips because you
want to be able to
open the pieces.

Recommendation:
I recommend
making the left
rib cage piece
overlap the right
rib cage piece just
a little bit. This
helps keep the
foldable closed
more easily.
(try it out for
yourself and see
what you think)

Don’t forget to label! Don’t forget they are editable. I keep the words simpler
for this foldable because it’s smaller but maybe you don’t like that, well then
change the vocabulary term labels to anything that you want. =)

Gas Exchange Foldable
This is great for older grade levels! You can delete the “put
glue under here” and just tell your students to put glue under
the gray strip if you want. I included a colored version so you
can show your students how you want them to color it or so you
can model how to color it.
