STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I am Tawsif Mustasin Rafin, and I am writing to express my strong interest in pursuing the
Master of Science in Technology with a concentration in Computer Information
Technology at Purdue University Northwest – Hammond Campus for the Fall 2025 intake.
With a solid academic background in computer science, hands-on industry experience, and a
deep commitment to contributing to technological advancement in Bangladesh, I believe that this
program will be the ideal next step in my educational and professional journey.
Academic and Professional Background
My fascination with technology began early and grew stronger throughout my academic life. I
earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from BRAC
University, one of the most prestigious universities in Bangladesh, in 2023. My undergraduate
curriculum provided a solid foundation in key computing areas such as object-oriented
programming, data structures, databases, machine learning, and software engineering. Prior to
that, I completed my SSC in 2015 and HSC in 2017 with a strong focus on science, which further
nurtured my analytical and logical abilities.
While studying, I engaged in various academic projects including a Hospital Management
System and an Online Financial System, utilizing PHP, HTML, and MySQL. I also conducted
research on "A Comparative Study of Lung Cancer Prediction Using Deep Learning" and
"Smart Voice Signature: A Machine Learning Approach to Speaker Identification," which
deepened my understanding of applied machine learning and information security.
Professionally, I have worked in multiple IT roles that have refined my technical and managerial
skills. At SoftBD Ltd., I served as a Cybersecurity Analyst and Software Quality Assurance
Engineer, where I conducted vulnerability assessments and quality testing for government
platforms such as minland.gov.bd and nise.gov.bd. As a Software Developer at Name Space
IT, I developed full-stack web applications and managed project delivery timelines. Currently, I
work as a Business IT Executive at Notionhive, where I am responsible for managing IT
infrastructure, enhancing system security, and aligning technology with business goals.
These experiences have helped me develop a well-rounded skill set that spans software
development, cybersecurity, IT strategy, and data analytics. However, I recognize the need for
advanced academic training to further specialize and lead innovative, technology-driven
solutions in the real world.
Why This Program
The Master of Science in Technology with a concentration in Computer Information
Technology at Purdue University Northwest aligns perfectly with both my educational
background and career aspirations. The program’s focus on applied computing, information
systems management, and data communication systems fits my goal of becoming an IT strategist
and solution architect. Courses such as Information Security Management, Advanced
Database Concepts, and Enterprise Network Design will help strengthen my technical core,
while electives in Project Management and Data Analytics will support my ambition to take
on leadership roles in the future.
Moreover, the program’s STEM designation ensures that I will receive hands-on training with
emerging technologies, preparing me to design, implement, and manage secure, data-driven IT
systems. I am particularly excited by the program’s applied research opportunities and real-world
case-based learning, which will enable me to translate theory into impactful practice.

Purdue University is a globally respected name in technology and engineering, and the
Northwest campus in Hammond offers a unique combination of academic excellence, practical
relevance, and cultural diversity. The university’s strong industry connections and focus on
workforce development are especially appealing to me, as they provide a clear pathway to apply

I am also impressed by the campus’s state-of-the-art facilities, experienced faculty, and
commitment to student success through academic advising, career services, and research
mentorship. Being part of such a dynamic learning environment will not only sharpen my
technical expertise but also allow me to grow as a confident, well-rounded professional.
Career Goals
My long-term vision is to return to Bangladesh and establish an IT consultancy firm that
focuses on cybersecurity, AI-driven automation, and digital transformation for small and
medium-sized enterprises. I aim to build end-to-end solutions that are not only technically robust
but also accessible and scalable for businesses with limited digital capabilities. Through this
venture, I hope to contribute to the “Digital Bangladesh” initiative by promoting innovation,
digital literacy, and economic empowerment.
In addition, I plan to collaborate with government agencies and local organizations to implement
secure, technology-enabled solutions in education, healthcare, and public service. I also wish to
conduct workshops and training programs to equip the next generation of technologists in
Bangladesh with global-standard skills and knowledge.

The United States remains a global leader in research, innovation, and higher education.
Pursuing graduate studies in such an environment will provide me with access to cutting-edge
technologies, global perspectives, and a multicultural academic setting. The collaborative and
challenge-based learning model in the U.S. will help me enhance my analytical, communication,
and leadership skills—traits that are essential for a 21st-century technology professional.
Desire to Return to My Home Country
Despite the numerous opportunities in the U.S., my ultimate goal is to return to Bangladesh and
apply the knowledge I gain for the benefit of my family, community, and country. I come from a
close-knit, family-oriented background, and my parents and siblings have been my lifelong
support system. Their sacrifices and encouragement continue to inspire me to pursue excellence
not just for personal success, but to uplift others around me.
With the skills and experience I will acquire at Purdue University Northwest, I am determined
to contribute meaningfully to my country’s technological advancement and digital inclusion. I
see myself not only as a technologist but also as a change agent who bridges the gap between
global innovation and local needs.
