Activity
A. Preliminary Activities 10 minutes
1. Prayer Someone please lead the prayer.
Classmates are
you ready to
pray?
Yes We Are.
(Pray the daily
prayer)
Good morning
2. Greetings
mam!
We are fine
Good morning class! Mam.
How are you today? Yes Mam!
It’s good to hear that you are fine.
3. Energizer
Before we begin our lesson, let’s
play a short game. Would you like
to play a game?
It’s Called “What do I Produce?” I Yes Mam.
will show some picture of some
things and you will guess what does We are ready
it produce is it heat, sound, or light? Mam.
Understood?
Are you ready?
Okay let’s start Sound
Light
Sound
Light
Heat
4. Checking of
Attendance
5. Recall Classroom Present Mam!
Rules
Okay I hope you enjoy our short
game.
Now let’s check attendance and
see who are present today.
(Checked attendance)
Yes Mam!
Okay now that I’m done in checking
of your attendance may I remind
you that during our lesson please
practice silence and raise your
hand if you want to ask questions.
Please don’t roam around the
classroom during the lesson and
ask my permission if ever you need
to go to the comfort room. Am I
clear?
Very Good!
B. Developmental 2 minutes
Activities
1. Review Let’s recall what is our previous Energy and
lesson about? its effects.
Very good!
Now can anyone tell me how Energy is
energy affects our daily lives? essential to
our daily
lives,
powering our
homes,
transportatio
n,
communicati
Very Good on, and
industries.
While energy
brings many
benefits, it
also poses
challenges
like climate
change,
energy
security, and
energy
access.
C. Motivation 3 minutes
I will ask you a question
Have you ever felt the warmth
of the sun on your skin, heard
the sound of music from a Yes mam
distant speaker, or seen a
beautiful sunset?
(Discuss)
Now in 1 minute share with a
partner or in a small group:
What do you think helps us feel (Answer may
the sun’s warmth, hear the vary)
music, or see the sunset?
Now can someone share their
answer?
Thank you! Did you ever
wonder how does light sound
and heat travel?
D. Activities Let’s have an activity for you.
May I remind you that be .Okay mam!
careful at handling materials
and please seek the assistance
of your parents.
E. Engage Have you ever wondered how
we can see things, feel warmth,
or hear sounds?
Demonstration
I have here a flashlight and The light
candle. disappeared
Shine a flashlight in a dark
room , “What happens if I block Because it’s
it with my hand?” near to the
fire
Hold hands near a candle ,
“Why do we feel warmth even They all
if we don’t touch it?” travels
So what do light, heat, and
sound have in common?
F. Explore Now, I will let the students
investigate how light, sound, and
heat travel through simple
experiments.
Experiment 1: How Light Travels
Students will use a flashlight
and different objects (glass,
paper, mirror) to observe
how light moves.
I will guide them to see how
light passes through
transparent objects, is
blocked by opaque objects,
and reflects off shiny
surfaces.
Experiment 2: How Sound
Travels
Students will use string
telephones to test how
sound moves through solids.
They will hit a tuning fork and
place it near water to see
how vibrations create ripples.
Experiment 3: How Heat Travels
Students will heat a metal spoon
with a candle and feel how heat
moves from the flame to the metal.
We will compare this with how
heat moves through air by feeling
the warmth from our hands.
G. Explain I will guide students in
discussing their findings:
1. Light Travels in a
Straight Line
-Light moves in straight
paths unless blocked or
reflected.
-Transparent materials
allow light to pass, while
opaque materials block it.
Example: The sun's light
reaches us in a straight
line.
2. Sound Travels
Through
Vibrations
-Sound moves in waves
and needs a medium
(solid, liquid, or gas) to
travel.
-Vibrations in objects
create sound.
Example: We hear an echo
when sound waves bounce
off walls.
3. Heat Moves in
Different Ways
-Conduction: Heat moves
through solids (e.g., metal
spoon in a flame).
-Convection: Heat moves
through liquids and gases
(e.g., hot air rises).
-Radiation: Heat moves
through space (e.g., the
sun warming us).
H. Elaborate I will relate these
concepts to real-world
examples and ask
students questions to
apply your learnings: Student 1: "Because
Why do we see light travels faster than
lightning before we sound!"
hear thunder? Student 2: "That’s why
we see the flash first
and then hear the
boom!"
How do we use heat to Student 1: "When we
cook food? cook with a pan, the
heat moves from the
fire to the food!"
Student 2: "When we
boil water, heat
spreads in the pot."
Why does sound
change when you cover Student 1: “Our hands
your ears? block some sound
waves!”
Student 2: “It sounds
softer because less
sound reaches us.”
I. Evaluate To assess their learning,
I will give a short quiz.
Multiple Choice:
How does light travel?
a) In a circle
b) In a straight line
c) In a zigzag
Which of these helps
sound travel?
a) Air
b) Water
c) Both
How does heat move
through a metal spoon?
a) Conduction
b) Convection
c) Radiation
Short Answer:
Explain how sound
travels through a string
telephone.
Why do we feel warm
when standing near a
fire?
IV. REFLECTION
I will ask students to share one thing they learned and how they can
use it in real life.
Example Responses:
“I learned that sound needs something to travel through, like air or
a string!”
“Now I know why we wear jackets in the cold—it traps heat!”
