Time:
I.OBJECTIVES
Objective over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary
procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons exercises, and remedial activities maybe
done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are using Formatives Assessment
Strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to
find significance and joy in learning the lesson. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum
guide.
A. Content Standard Demonstrate understanding of the key concepts of circles and coordinate geometry.
Is able to formulate and find solutions to challenging situations involving circles and
B. Performance Standard other related terms in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate
representations.
C. Learning Sectors of a circle
Competency/Objectives M10GE-IIc-d-1
Define and illustrate sector of a circle.
Write The LC Code For each
Find the area of the sector of a circle.
Apply the formula in finding the area of sector of a circle in real life setting.
Appreciate the wide applications of the concepts of circles in real life and its
usefulness in problem-solving and in decision making.
II. CONTENT Content is what the lesson is all about. It pertains to the subject matter that the teacher aims
to teach. In the CG, the content in a week or two.
Sectors of a circle
III. LEARNING List the materials to be used in different days. Varied resources of materials sustain children’s interest in
the lesson an in learning. Ensure that there is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as
RESOURCES paper-based materials. Hands-on learning promotes concept development.

IV. PROCEDURES These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that the students will learn well.
Always be guided by demonstration of learning the by the students which you can infer from formative assessment
activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing the students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their
learning, question their learning processes and draw conclusion about what they learned in relation to their life
experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
A. Reviewing previous lesson or - Let us recall our previous lesson on the area of a circle. Anyone who could give us
presenting the new lesson
the formula on how to find the area of a circle. ( A=π r 2)
* What is the area of a circle having a radius of 4 cm? a diameter of 12 centimeter?
B. Establishing a purpose for the Picture Analysis
lesson
Show some pictures portraying circles.
a. What do you see in the pictures?
b. What parts of the circle are being depicted or shown? What is the center of
the circle? Why do you think God is used to represent the center ?
c. If you are to compare your life as to a circle, what motivational quotes can you
draw out from the picture?(Life is like a circle, this knowledge is taught in your ESP,
your ESP teacher used circle to give emphasis on the cycle of making perfect
decisions in your daily activities.
-How many equal divisions does the circle has? What part of the circle chart
represents your spiritual responsibility?(1/5)
- Show an image picture of a pizza pie.
a. If a circle was filled with a pizza, what could be
a slice of it?
In the concepts of mathematics, a slice of a circular pizza is called a
SECTOR.
b. What is a sector?
A sector of a circle is the region bounded
by two radii and the intercepted arc of the
circle.
- Our lesson for today is all about sector of a circle. And we are to target the
following objectives.
Define and illustrate sector of a circle.
Find the area of the sector of a circle.
Apply the formula in finding the area of sector of a circle in real life setting.
Appreciate the wide applications of the concepts of circles in real life and its
usefulness in problem-solving and in decision making
C. Presenting examples/instances of -Into how many equal parts is the pizza divided?
the new lesson
-What part of the whole pizza is the sliced one? (Very good! you got it right, smart
people, really give smart answers.). How did you arrive with your answer anyway?
-Cakes and pizzas usually come in circular shapes. Every time you get a
slice, you are actually taking a sector of it!
-If you will eat one sliced of the cake, that is pictured
on the right, what do you think is the area of the sliced you
you had eaten ?
-To get the area of the piece you have
taken, the formula in getting the
area of the whole circular pizza/cake will be used. This formula will be
multiplied to the ratio of the piece/s taken.
1
Thus, Area of the piece eaten = ( area of the whole pizza )

D. Discussing new concepts and Solve the problem, then round your answer to the
practicing new skills # 1
nearest tenths. (Use π = 3.1416 to approximate your answer.)
1) You made a cassava cake in a pan with a radius of 5 inches. After it was baked, it
was cut into 12 equal slices. What is the area of each slice?
Guide Questions.
a. What formula will help you solve the problem?
b. How do you manipulate this formula to come up with a sure correct answer?
C. What is θ equal to? How did you arrive with that value?
θ
What is =?
360
d. ( π r 2 )=?
e. What is the area of each slice? How did you arrive with the
answer?
E. Discussing new concepts and 2)Given the measurement of the circle U, find the area
practicing new skills # 2
of the sector.
*Guide the students in answering the problem in the
step-by-step procedure through questions.
1. What is the first step that you are going to do?
2. What are to be identified after step 1?
3. Then what comes next?
F. Developing mastery (leads to THINK-PAIR -SHARE ACTIVITY
Formative Assessment 3)
Find the area of the shaded region. Round the area to two decimal places.
( Use π = 3.1416)
1. 2
3. A slice of a pizza has a radius of 9 inches. It forms an angle of 300 at the center.
Find the area of the slice.
G. Finding practical application of
concepts and skills in daily living
1. The monthly income of the Cadater family is Php is 56,000.00. The information on
their expenses is shown in the circle graph below.
a. Which items is allotted with the highest budget?
How about the least? How much is the highest allotment?
b. If you were to budget your family’s monthly income,
which item would you give the higher allocation? Why?
c. In the circle graph, what is the measure of the central
angle corresponding to each item?
d. Suppose the radius of the circle graph is 25 cm. What is
the area of each sector in the circle graph? (Group Activity)
Group 1 Group 2 Group 3 Group 4
Note: Representative from each group will present their output.
H. Making generalizations and -How do you find the area of a sector of a circle? (You can answer this question, by
abstractions about the lesson
filling up the line with phrase or sentences to complete the statement in the
Metacognition for Knowing Steps and Procedures.)
