Lesson 1 – Plant reproduction
I. D-words with meaning.
1. Seed coat – the outermost part of a seed.
2. Seedling – the baby plant that grows from a seed.
3. Germination – the process which gives rise to new plant from a seed.
4. Seed dispersal - the spreading away of seeds.
5. Granaries – dry grains and pulses are stored in large rooms.
6. Pesticides – chemicals used for destroying plant pests.
7. Plumule – The first part of a plant to appear above the ground.
8. Radicle – The first part to appear when a seed germinates; it forms
roots.
9. Embryo – a baby plant of a seed.
10. Cotyledons – part of the embryo within the seed of a plant.
