REFLECTION TOPIC: PLANNING FOR GRADUATION AND CAREER
Part 1:
1. My desired degree is: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
2. I plan to take 4 classses per term. It should take me 5 terms to finish my degree.
3. I am looking forward to these classes: (list at least 2 and explain why)
Ans:
Computer Systems: I’m looking forward to learning about the internal design and
functionality of computer systems in their computer systems class. Currently I study
Electrical and Electronics Engineering at a Polytechnic with a drive to achieve a
degree in Computer Engineering with direct entry to a university of my choice.
Data Mining and Machine Learning: I’m excited to build my knowledge in data
analytics and data science. I feel that with the aid of this course and subsequent
courses thereafter, I will be able to understand the concepts and build my own
models for machines
4. I am a little nervous or concerned about these classes (list at least 2 and explain why)
Programming 2:
I feel a bit shy when it comes to learning new programming languages other than
Python. Although Java is a powerful programming language for game development and
desktop application building, the syntax is not so user-friendly. However, I believe that
with practice and determination, I will understand the syntax and get comfortable
programming in Java.
Software Engineering 1:
Due to my previous experiences with online learning platforms and courses on
software engineering. I see that a lot of programming languages are used and a lot of
concepts need to be learned before building a useful piece of software.
Part 2:
Ans:
SKILLS THAT I HAVE MASTERED:
Analysing:
In my Polytechnic School, while building electronic science projects, I used to gather
useful facts from people who had done something similar in the past and use the
information to make informed decisions. This approach helped me a lot.
Budgeting:
I always try to fit my team’s ideas into the team’s budget while scouting for materials for
their science project. I avoid purchasing fancy equipment that may incur more cost and
go for less-expensive, yet reliable equipment that can also get the same project task
done without having to get ripped off of money that could be channelled into other
aspects of the project

Evaluating:
Before starting any electronic project with my team, I ensure that the resources
available in the market match what the project requires to avoid time wastage and
reduce the risk of wasted finances
Researching:
I stay up-to-date with the latest trends in the world of technology and conducts
thorough research on relevant information before embarking on any project.
Visualizing:
I visualize how a particular action will play out in real life before carrying it out.
SKILLS I STILL NEED TO MASTER:
Speaking a second language:
Well for me to master a second language, I’ll have to take language courses from
certified language teaching institutes like Duolingo, Coursera etc.
Editing: I’ll attach myself to those who are proficient in editing
Mentoring: I’ll attend leadership seminars that will broaden my horizon on how to
become a better role model and leader
Coaching: I’ll do just the same as I would do for mentoring
Selling: I’ll take courses on how to market or sell products on reputable training sites like
coursera and simplilearn
