II. Prose Analysis – Oliver Asks for More by Charles Dickens
Read the story carefully and write an analytical response covering the
following points:
1. Social Issues Highlighted in the Story
•What social evils does Dickens portray through Oliver‘s experience in the
workhouse? Substantiate by giving examples from the text.
2. Relevance in Today’s Society
•Do such social injustices still exist? Provide examples for the same.
3. Government Measures & Constitutional Provisions
•What steps has the Indian government taken to eliminate child
exploitation and to ensure children's welfare?
•State relevant provisions in the Indian Constitution (e.g., Right to
Education, Right to Protection from Exploitation).
Visual Component: Paste relevant images such as illustrations from the
novel, historical depictions of workhouses, or modern campaigns against
child labour.
