classroom. In every good classroom, effective
classroom management is at the heart of the
teaching and learning process.

STRATEGIES FOR EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
1. create an organized place to learn and a positive class atmosphere.
2. establish clear expectations/rules/standard.
3. plan each lesson with your student in mind.
4. offer praise and give incentives.
5. communicate clearly and regularly.
6. build strong relationships and rapport with your students.
7. reach out to students’ families.
8. create organized lesson plans and keep learners involves in
activities.
9. set limits positively.

CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE/PUNISHMENT AND BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT.
*classroom discipline is the aspect of classroom management that deals
with handling negative behaviour when they occur, and also teaching
students to engage in desired behaviour when they are in the classroom.
*Discipline is typically thought to have a positive influence on both the
individuals as well as the classroom environment.
*Punishment is a form of negative discipline. Generally, punishment aims
to stop bad behaviour. It is often used to get rid of or to end bad
behaviour.
ACTIVITY:
HOW DO YOU PUNISH BAD BEHAVIOUR IN
YOUR CLASS ?
DEALING WITH BAD BEHAVIOURS.
Dealing with disruptive behaviour is an
important factor related to good class
management.
Examples of disruptive behaviour includes:
*clowning
*Refusal
*hyper activity
PROBLEM 1.
CLOWNING: Acting like a clown to attract
attention.
SOLUTION: Give learner private warning, Hold a
chat with the student and discuss alternatives to
gain class attention e.g. answering question in
class.
PROBLEM 2.
REFUSAL: Refusal to attempt written assignment,
answer oral question. e.t.c
SOLUTION: *offer help to the student and show
caring attitude.
**look for possible reasons for such behaviour,
probably, the learner might be having some
troubles or some kind of disabilities.
PROBLEM 3
HYPERACTIVITY: Moving all the time, not
being able to concentrate
SOLUTION: *Show care and passion
**Praise acceptable behaviour and reprimand
unacceptable ones.
***Assign responsibilities that use his/her
hyperactivity.
