Harrison Bergeron By Kurt Vonnegut
During the 20th century, authors utilized realistic problems in which humanity was facing in regards
to technology, control, and the concept of dystopia. The story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut,
foreshadows the potential future of humanity by using themes resembling the oppression and
abolition of civilian rights and freedoms in order to give insight towards the future of humanity. The
story displays society of mankind with no differences and limited potential that is controlled by a
government deadset on keeping the status quo. Vonnegut exemplifies traits of communism in his
dystopian society, as he states, They weren t only equal before God and the law. They were equal
every which way (Vonnegut 1). Ultimately, freedom and civil rights are restricted, resulting in, a lack
of privacy and minimal self autonomy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Vonnegut 3). This Suggest that they are so used to what is viewed as societal norms, forcing them

real life aspects of fame and popularity as he writes He tried to think a little about the ballerinas.
They weren t really very good no better than anybody else would have been, anyway. They were
burdened with sashweights and bags of birdshot, and their faces were masked, so that no one,

Analysis Of Paul Green Theatre At Detroit 67 And Took My...
When I walked into Paul Green Theatre to watch Detroit 67 and took my seat on stage right, my
first thought was this story is going to be entirely depressing. The scene was a dingy living space
of a family in the 1960 s with a cold concrete floor that served as a modest barrier between the stage
and audiencealong with a dimly lit single room containing a couch and a record player in the front
of the stage. I could almost feel the chilly aura being emitted from the concrete floor and poorly
painted, solid grey steps leading up to the stage exit. In the back of the setting was a combined
kitchen, wash, and bar area. All these signs of destitution were nothing special except for one piece
of the scenery that did not fit the rest. The Christmas lights that served as decor for the backstage
bar area stood out to me and I figured the time took place around Christmastime. Even still, the lights
could not eradicate the dreary feeling looming overhead in the dark theatre. Then, I heard the music
and everything changed.
Suddenly, Marvin Gaye s voice broke through my deep, somber thoughts and gave me a glimmer of
hope. There was no doubt that I was hearing Ain t No Mountain High Enough, and I knew at that
point that the play would have have a resilient message. The setlists of this play would include
many more 60 s top artist, such as The Temptations, Four Tops, and Earth,Wind, Fire. This was a
great way to tell the story before the main presentation of the story took place. I
The Aristotle s Idea of a Good Life Essay
Question: What is Aristotle s idea of a good life and why does he view a good life in this way? Is
Aristotle s understanding of a good life accurate? Why or why not? (Make sure to talk about the
concept of the mean). To Aristotle leading a good life, for the most part, means fulfilling one s
purpose in a way that is good by balancing life s pleasures. In order to determine if an object
fulfills its function in a good way, we must first consider the object. If we were to agree that a car
should be reliable, then we could also agree that reliable car should be considered a good car.
Similarly, animals, for example, possess certain traits like the power of locomotion, and the desire to
seek nourishment and reproduce. According to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aristotle studied under Plato, who studied under Socrates, yet Aristotle tended to be more real
world oriented with regard to how he thought. Aristotle has come to be known as the father of
logic, and has been credited as the first person to classify knowledge in specific categories like
mathematics, and biology. Indeed, his sound reasoning skills and belief in the scientific method
form the framework for much of his work, and his idea of a good life is probably no different
(Richter, 2008). Aristotle was an observer of nature, and recognized the need for balance in natural
systems. He could have reasoned that since humans are products of nature, we too must find a
balance with in our environments. This probably led to the idea of a golden mean, or balance between
two extremes that humans should strive to achieve. The golden mean is not an exact middle or
average in the mathematical sense, but rather a flexible guideline that can vary depending on the
situation. In this way, it could be said that courage is the desirable trait that exists between
cowardliness and recklessness. However, where courage lies between these two extremes varies
from situation to situation, so a baseline cannot be defined to cover every case. For example,
risking one s life in battle to save the lives of others would be considered a courageous act, while
risking one s life through heavy alcohol or
The Ecj s Evolving Case Law On Fundamental Human Rights

Question 5
The ECJ has been accused of not taking (human) rights seriously . Assess the validity of this
comment with reference to the ECJ s evolving case law on fundamental human rights in European
Union law.

Introduction:
To begin with, it is essential to explain what is European Court of Justice and Human Rights. The
Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is an institution, established in 1952, which interprets
EU law to make sure it is applied in the same way in all EU countries, and settles legal disputes
between national governments and EU institutions. It can also, in certain circumstances, be used by
individuals, companies or organisations to take action against an EU institution, if they ... Show more

First cases to consider would be Friedrich Stork Cie v High Authority of the European Coal and
Steel Community and Geitling v High Authority , where a reluctance to recognise fundamental
rights was noticed. However, these were the first cases dealing with fundamental human rights,
and European Court of Justice had plenty of time to progress in making decisions regarding these
rights, European Union law and Member States national law. Another essential case in this
argument is Costa v Enel , where the principle of the supremacy of EEC law over inconsistent
national law was established. In this case European Court of Justice said: It follows from all
these observations that the law stemming from the treaty, an independent source of law, could
not, because of its special and original nature, be overridden by domestic legal provisions,
however framed, without being deprived of its character as community law and without the legal
basis of the community itself being called into question , which obviously gives priority for EU
law over national law. Such a decision reflected in application of fundamental Human Rights as
well it proved that Human Rights will be applicable even if they conflict with national law. Only in

Literary Characters Of Harry Potter
What do you think is the most recognized name in the world? Perhaps, it is Beyonce; or maybe
Donald Trump. However, when this question is asked specifically looking for a literary character
s name, we are still left with a myriad of choices. Huckleberry Finn, Sherlock Holmes, Matilda,
and Harry Potter are just a few of the thousands of popular characters in literature. Many are so
popular that a film is created from their novels. One of the most recognized novel collections that
have been made into a movie franchise is the Harry Potter collection. This is a multi billion dollar
franchise that has captured the world for decades. It is based on a young boy named Harry Potter,

The only traits that don t change are the ones that he has inherited from his parents. He receives
his facial structure from his dad and his eyes from his mother. Numerous other traits that Harry
has, are traits that both of his parents possess. Almost all of the bodily features that are described
in the novels, are also shown in the movies; just with slight variations. There are a few subtle
differences in Harry s appearances that can be found in the movies. Harry Potter is well known in
the novel for having, his mother s green eyes .(J.K. Rowling Quotes) However, in the movie
Daniel Radcliff s(Harry Potter) eyes are blue. This may seem insignificant, but since it is
accentuated in the novel, it is hard to ignore. Another, more noticable difference is Harry s scar. It
is illustrated in the The Philosopher s Stone as being located in the center of Harry s forehead.
Although, in all of the movies, it is located directly above his right eye. One of Harry Potter s
qualities that cannot be shown, but is still pivotal to the plot is his personality. Many of the
similarities between the novels and the movies can be found by interpreting Harry s personality.
Life experiences are the main ingredient in the makings of his personality. A notable characteristic
is his bravery. Bravery allows Harry to save Hogwarts, his friends, and the whole world. Whether it
be, keeping the sorcerer s stone out of the hands of evil or saving the world from the dark
Lord Of The Flies And Human Nature Essay
Human nature defines the general psychological behaviors of humans when in a primitive or
natural state. In the movies and books in this course human nature is a very prevalent theme and
controls the events throughout. In The Mist by Stephen King, the characters start out with their
civility and slowly break down and do things that show they will do anything to survive. In Lord of
the Flies by William Golding, the boys get stranded on an island and use a form of order to keep
their civilized lives intact but soon turn to savagery and destruction. Another example of human
nature is in the short story film of The Shelter from The Twilight Zone. The neighbors in the 1960 s
are great friends until there is supposed to be a missile strike that... Show more content on

They begin with electing a leader that will guide them to survive and eventually be rescued. This
character is Ralph, and he stands for civilization and wanting to be saved from this tragedy. Only
days after this so called election, a few boys realize they need to hunt and kill for meat to survive.
They lose all thought of being rescued. Just within a matter of days these boys were a group of
savages, dancing around fires, sharpening hunting and killing spears, and attacking Ralph and
whoever else continued to live with a civilized manner. These boys were finally free of any adult
supervision or authority and wanted to act like human nature intends, with the thought of living at
the top of the food chain and surviving in the face of death being their only priority. Towards the
end of the story the group of savage boys, who called themselves a tribe, murdered the character
Piggy . This character represented the hope of civilization for the stranded group of boys. He was
the only one who saw their situation for what it really was. When he was killed, Ralph even lost
hope and began to fight and run to survive. The only reason these boys survived was the eventual
coming of the military that spotted the forest fires being started by the tribe to burn out and murder
Ralph. Once they saw an actual adult again they all broke down and regained their vision on what
they had all done on this island. This just shows how easily it is to wade in and out of civility when

I liked the composition of this photo. It was taken from underneath, looking down the length of the
pier. What I loved about this photo is that the pillars closest to the lens are much distorted and the
Pacific Ocean has soothing yet eerie radium like glow to it. It s a very strange photograph and I
absolutely loved it. The second photo was titled The Coffee Shop. Photo is a black and white print
taken in Italy 2010. It is of a group of men (I think) and they appear to be walking in the middle of a
road or alley away from the camera. What really liked about this photo is the graininess of it and
the contrast of the snow covered street and the dark clothing that the men are wearing. What I loved
about this photo is that I could feel the bone chilling cold, like I was actually there.
The last photo was another black and white print. This photo was titled Canals and was taken in
Amsterdam 2010. This photo seems to be taken from a bridge crossing over the canal or maybe
from some sort of vessel on the canal. I m just taking guesses; I am not familiar with Amsterdam. I
liked this photo because I can see all the way down this canal and there is so much detail in both the
shadows and the highlights of the photo, just

The earliest systems were implemented based on analog technology and the basic cellular structure
of mobile communication. Many fundamental problems were solved by these early systems.
Numerous incompatible analog systems were placed in service around the world during the 1980s.
The 2G (second generation) systems designed in the 1980s were still used mainly for voice
applications but were based on digital technology, including digital signal processing techniques.
These 2G systems provided circuit‐switched data communication services at a low speed. The
competitive rush to design and implement digital systems led again to a variety of different and
incompatible standards such as GSM (global system mobile), TDMA (time division multiple
access); PDC (personal digital cellular) and CDMA (code division multiple access). These systems
operate nationwide or internationally and are todayʹs mainstream systems, although the data rate for
users in these system is very limited.

Media And Its Impact On The Political Movement Essay
The norm of journalism is to present information or news to the general public via mass media.
Thus, it plays an important part in everyday life. Notwithstanding, media have a vigorous relation
with politics especially among the democratic societies (Fernandez Quijada 2013). Moreover, the
media is also perceived as the fourth estate due to the fact that it able to influence and affects the
perceptions of the general public towards the political movement (Kemp 2013). However, in
comparison to the past, nowadays, the modernisation of technology, the change of social patterns
and political conditions somewhat change how the media works (Gerth Siegert 2012). In their article
stated that media companies are predominantly private owned companies, thus, the media are more
to market orientation. Therefore, the media are not necessarily providing vital information to the
general public (Gerth Siegert 2012). Henceforth, the media commonly utilise the practise of framing
to provide information on political matter to the general public (Hanggli 2012). Framing denotes
how the role of media influences its audiences in interpreting and contemplating on issues provided
(Kemp 2013). Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to analyse how the media presents the overall
political contents in newspaperfrom the New ZealandHerald dated April 23rd and how framing in the
political contents influences the general public. The advancement and modernisation of technology

helped 25 refugees who are as a result of the recent terrorist attack in Paris. In addition, it has been

Another method of obtaining an education is by convincing a studio to take you on as an intern,

that the recording industry is fairly young, and some of the greatest engineers received no formal

After training or schooling has been received, there are a few ways that might get you in the door
