Examples Of Animism In Spirit Away
Spirit Away is an anime style fantasy film written and directed by the celebrated artist Hayao
Miyazaki. Originally released in Japan in 2001 to great fanfare, Disney translated an English
version and distributed the film to western audiences later that same year. In 2002, Spirit Away
went on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, the Golden Bear Award at the
International Film Festival in 2003, and has become the most successful film in Japanese history
to date. The story focuses on a young, ten year old girl named Chihiro, who in the beginning
proves to be a very apathetic, whiny, and spoiled sort of child but grows and develops tremendously
as a bright soul by the end of the viewer s journey. The realm in which Chihiro inhabits... Show more

Pythagoreans followed purification rituals that included extensive bathing, with well developed
rules, enabling their souls to achieve a higher rank among the gods. Chihiro s journey of change
and growth takes place in a bathhouse that caters to these gods. There is notable emphasis on the
bathing rites of passage occurring in the film and as Chihiro tends to her daily work she is often
dripping wet, herself, from drawing baths and providing towel services to the gods. The most
dramatic of scenes includes an ancient stink spirit who arrives in search of its ritual cleaning.
Chihiro begins her duties only to be engulfed in the stench and mire that flow from the stink spirit
and upon successfully removing a thorn from its side, the spirit proves to be a polluted river spirit,
whose trash and pollution pours into the room. Mindless waste, greed, and disregard for
environment, all too well, relate the ancient Pythagorean teaching that consequences of our daily
actions alter our natural and individual worlds in harmful and destructive ways that we know
Non-Canonical Wisdom Books
When reading the outside reference material in my opinion the non canonical wisdom books consist
of worship, fluctuation love, historical background, the worst aspect of life, literature, and wisdom
(oxfordbiblicalstudies). I have noticed that the literature books continue to discuss issues of daily
living with little information on how Israel had a vow with God. When reading these non canonical
wisdom books my outlook of poetry is comprehended into confidence and conviction. Having the
ability and a different perspective to look at the non canonical wisdom books is one of the
differences that structured books of the bibledo not provide. The book of Psalms displays Isreal deep
respect of honor of expression that shows reverence for Israel
Boston from 1850 to 1900 Essay
Brandee Meyer
Boston from 1850 1900 There was no time in Boston that was most emphasized, than the 1850 s to
1900 s. In the city of Boston there were a lot of changes that had occurred between the second half of
the 19th century, not only with the city but also with the people living in Boston. Boston has always
been changing and in transition.
Boston had changed majorly from being the merchant city to the industrial metropolis. The
population of people went up about ¾ in 50 years of its physical change. When Boston was a
merchant city in 1850, it was tightly packed and crowded, then once it because an industrial
metropolis in 1900, it was a spread out to a 10 mile radius, containing 31 cities and towns. The
metropolis was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was the same with the omnibus that was created in 1826, because it moved slowly and didn t
hold many people. The steam railroad was another form of transportation that was introduced in
1835 and it was a better form of transportation because it moved quicker and could hold many
more passengers, but it was also expensive and didn t always take the people to where they wanted
to go because it didn t stop very often, and only went one route.
There were land changes that occurred during the second half of the 19th century such as the South
End and the Back Bay. The South End was almost entirely taken up by houses in 1880 and then
went to the Back Bay that was almost completely taken up by houses in 1900. Only the rich could
afford to live on these pieces of land, because they were so expensive. Street railways were created
and they were the most aggressive expansion in the 19th century. From the 1880 s to the 1890 s
street railways took up at least six miles from City Hall in Boston. The service of the first railway
began in 1852. The first street railway in Boston would go between Harvard Square, Cambridge,
Summerville, and Union Square. The increase in the street railway brought excitement for the
entrepreneur s as well in other cities in America. Eventually the street railways replaced the omnibus

The Impact Of Smart Technology On Technology
The Impact of Smart Technology Technology has improved so much over the last couple decades.
One of the best and biggest technological advancements for this decade is the creation of Smart
Technology. What is Smart Technology? By definition SMART is actually an acronym which stands
for Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology. It is used to protect and prevent errors in
hard drives. The SMART technology basically monitors and analyzes hard drives, then checks the
health of your hard drive and lets you know if there are any problems. The main purpose of SMART
is to keep your hard drive running smoothly and prevent it from crashing. (Christensson 2006). Smart
Technology is changing the way people around the world work, live, play, study, pay bills, shop and
communicate. The effects of technology is becoming younger which is the reason Smart Technology
has such a huge impact on the younger generations. Techno giants are aiming new technology at
younger generations opposed to others, like mid aged to elderly people who sometime struggle with
technology functionality. Although, some elderly may not care or be concerned about modern
technology they may not escape it, it is everywhere. Marshall Mcluhan warned, that technology will
rewire so completely that we might be in danger of becoming their unwilling slave rather than their
master. (nextnature.net/2009) A. Keen wrote in his 2015 edition of The internet is not the answer

Greece And Persia Geography Analysis
Multicultural Empires
Jasmyne Cartagena
Western Governors University
Part A1: Greece and Persia Geography Greece had many geographical features such as mountains
and rocky soils, but the Mediterranean Sea was the most important. The people of Greece didn t
have agriculture friendly land, so they relied on maritime trade. Not being able to grow staple
foods such as wheat, left them struggling to provide an adequate amount of food. Thankfully, the
rocky soils were idea for growing olives and grapes. Having these two major crops gave them a
bartering tool. By sailing the Mediterranean Sea, they were able to travel to different countries to
obtain the goods they needed or desired by offering theirs. These new trading opportunities solved
the food problem and made Greece dominate what would become the most contested body of water.
(Acrobatiq, 2017).
Mountains, the Persian Gulf and arid climate make up Persia, but Persia wouldn t be the same
without their fertile soil. The fertile soil provided the ideal situation to grow an abundance of
crops. They were able to provide a range of food including wheat, mustard, pomegranates and so
many more. With so many crops to care for they needed efficiency and ended up using iron tools
and building irrigation systems. The development around crops and the surplus of food led to
population growth and elements of civilization. It is safe to say that the development and people of
Persia would not have been the same without their fertile
Anti-Heroism In One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Ken Kesey, the author of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, was inspired to write his novel from
his time working as an orderly at a mental health facility. He often experimented with LSD and his
documented drug use provided a realistic perspective of a mental patient. It is almost as if Kesey
is an anti hero himself; in order to achieve a different point of view, being that of a mental patient,
and write a spectacular book, he broke the law by taking drugs. Ken Kesey portrayed the main
character, McMurphy, as an anti hero. Throughout the essay, different aspects of McMurphy s
anti heroism will be explored by comparing the character with other fictional anti heroes, such as
Achilles, Jack Sparrow and Huckleberry Finn. In One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, R.P.
McMurphy is portrayed as an anti hero, as he chose to live his mortal life on his own terms,
opposed to sticking by the rules of society. The excessive pride and self confidence that
McMurphy possessed, knowing that no one could stop him, lead to his eventual downfall,
similar to the life of Achilles. It appeared as though McMurphy and Achilles were immortal, yet
what made them human was the certainty that they would one day die. As Achilles once stated
everything is more beautiful because we re doomed . McMurphy was able to escape a Chinese
prison and break Nurse Ratched and Achilles is known as one of the greatest Greek warriors.
Both of the characters actions create the impression they were unstoppable; although they were
eventually conquered by death, both seemingly for a cause. These characters had different
intentions; Achilles chose death over life in order to gain the glory of being remembered forever,
whereas McMurphy died for the men in the institute. Nurse Ratched baits McMurphy to breaking
point, providing an excuse for his lobotomy. She does this in order to retain her power but by the
time McMurphy dies, she had lost her power in the process due to his actions. This realisation is
what freed the boys. McMurphy is portrayed as an anti hero, much like Achilles, as he died for a
cause, which was for the patients to realise that Nurse Ratched didn t necessarily hold all the
power. McMurphy is portrayed as an anti hero as he is a many sided man,

Starbucks Case Study
MBAD 6211 10A Date Due: Sept 19, 2017 Group: Alyse Conn Powers, John Early, Colette Kent,
Kate Rhoad, Erica Jie Wang Case 1 (Starbucks Part 1) a) The nature of Starbucks business is to
generate income based on operating activities. When referencing the Statement of Cash Flows and
looking at their operating activities, you can see that Starbucks generates $2,908.3M in net cash
provided by operating activities. Investment is a significant item in this statement as well. The
company spent $785.9M in investments in the year ending September 29th, 2013. Strong investment
activities show that Starbucks is investing through buying and selling (Sales, maturities, and calls of
investments $1,040.2M) and using their spare cash to invigorate future growth and fund future
obligations. There is also heavy investment in property, plant, and equipment with additions totaling
$1,151.2M. This type of investment show us that Starbucks is focused on expansion using cash from
operations. They have a significant amount of cash coming in from operations, and money going out
in PP E. The analyst should not be concerned that Starbucks is borrowing money for negative
reasons, and they are looking very strong from an operating and investing standpoint. They are
effectively earning income and turning it into cash.

Causes Of Imperialism In Africa
Do people suffer from imperialism? Imperialism is a policy of extending a country s power and
influence through diplomacy or military force. Europe had many driving forces for wanting
imperialism in Africa. They succeeded in their drive for imperialism, but at what cost? Did Africa
suffer from the imperialismor did they benefit from it just as much as Europe? What was Europe s
main reason for imperialism in Africa? Great Britain gained a lot from imperialism in Africa. They
started imports and exports out of South Saharan Africa between 1854 through 1900. In the
beginning of everything imports in Africa were stronger, making about 3.5 4 million pounds within
the first year. Exports made about 2.5 million pounds. By 1900 imports were only making about 13
million pounds, whereas exports boomed and were profiting around 21 million pounds. Great
Britain benefited greatly from controlling this section of Africa making near 40 million pounds in
just 46 years. Whatever part of Europe that was either trading or... Show more content on

sis Europe start imperialism in Africa because they felt morally obligated to use Africa and their
people for their own self benefit, not believe that it would cause any harm to
Duty In The Odyssey And The Illiad
Virgil wrote The Aeneid at the request of consul Augustus and chose to in compass the Roman
ideal of duty into the classic stories of The Odyssey and The Illiad. The Aeneid is much like The
Odyssey and the Illiad, however, the tone is disjointed due to Aeneas path being driven by a sense
of duty rather than self interests. This disjointed tone is a result of a lack of emotional connection.
Without personal interests the sense of duty and needing to do what has to be done takes over and
as a result the story looses depth. A comparison between Aeneasand the two Greek heroes Achilles
and Odysseus demonstrates how even their similarities establish this difference in motivation which
effects the tone of this classic novel. Aeneas like Achilles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Aeneas and Odysseus fight for their families the difference in motive is again present; Aeneas
fights for his future family because of the duty he has to protect the future of Rome and his
people whereas Odysseus fights for his family to restore honor to their house. Though the
restoration of honor and kleos could be viewed as a selfish motive it shows that Odysseus has
some connection and feelings of pride with his home and family. Aeneas does make an effort to
please the king of the native people in Italy, nonetheless, he seems as though he is doing this again
only out of duty. There is no personal interest or excitement about his possible wife to be. Aeneas
seems to be floating through his story because there is no other path for him, opposed to Achilles
and Odysseus who struggle and fight to finally reach their end goal. Though all three men had divine
intervention it seems as though no opposition could get in Aeneas
Banquet Scene In Macbeth
It was also a very risky but appropriate play to show Taiwan audiences at the time as it made
political comments on Taiwan s recent history as a political leader called Chiang Kai shek s tried
to take over Taiwan, the parallels are quite evident. Chiang Kai shek was a military and political
leader who joined the Chinese Nationalists Party in 1918, known as KMT. The people of Taiwan
were under control of the KMT military forces and Chiang was the cause of hundreds of bloody and
violent deaths. In order for Chiang, not unlike Macbeth, he wanted to keep control of his totalitarian
regime so there was a massacre, riots and a famine, they ruled for over 40 years. KMT were still at
war with the mainland communists so they enacted the Mobilization... Show more content on

The scene was set with fog with blue and purple tones with her weary high pitched voice coming
from the unknown at first, ultimately holds our attention in suspense. It was visually haunting as
she looked like a corpse in rags. Another thing I noticed in the banquet scene a female performer
comes in to entertain Macbeth and does a dance with a mask. Throughout the dance she is
holding two other masks and alternately covers her face with them as she swirls, bends and
crosses the stage. The masks change with such fluidity you would hardly notice, even the type of
masks and the character they express; happy, fearful and angry. For me she was almost telling
Macbeths prophecy. All of the elements of this production made it a continuous seamless, ever
growing, rhythmic sweep , especially the final scene when Au Shu is up on his perch telling his
soldiers they cannot lose as the prophet told him so, unless the forest moves. It was then that his
own soldiers fire arrows at him creating a slow death with Au Shu doing a back flip from a raised
level to stage level in full view. It was incredible and symbolized his fall from grace. His own
soldiers took Macbeths head and brought it to the rebel army to save themselves as they could see
Macbeth had gone mad. It was certainly a tragedy, from start to finish the psychological and
emotional values were apparent. Even though the play was in Taiwanese and the subtitles were
simple English the two different styles blended together so nicely that the relationship, goals, the
guilt and fear then the demise of the Macbeths was created with such an
Battle Hymn Of The Republic Analysis
Battle Hymn of the Republic
A1: When I listened to the song in its entirety, rather than what we were instructed to sing in
church, I heard many lyrics and music that I had not heard before. The song reminds me of growing
up in church. We would sing this song often. However, it was the lyrics were always only
accompanied by the piano and maybe the organ. I appreciated the song much more with all the
instrumental pieces in the background.
This is a song that I believe will always make you feel patriotic and think of the military. I can t
imagine thinking of anything else while you listen to this song. It catches your attention with the
snare drum fanfare and then the trumpet sounding. You can t help but to stop and listen. A2: One of

By separating the entity from CCP, it would reduce the erosion of CCP s current brand which has
always been to focus on high performance and quality products. The $3 million investment can be
spent on creating this entity and equipping it with the technical expertise required to further
research on the concrete coating, and a separate sales force to develop a market for this new
product. The cost can eventually be off set by the estimated $5.07 million increase in profit, as
mentioned previously. The separate entity need not require a new factory. Instead, CCP and this
separate entity can share physical space and resources if needed. If all the risks as mentioned above
can be mitigated, CCP should proceed with the production of concrete coating as a by product
because it brings benefits to both the environment (through CO2 reduction) and CCP (through
increased profit).
