DISCUSSION
The objective of this study is to examine the differences between the vegan and omnivore diet and to
study the relationship of these diets to body composition, blood lipids, and the serum hormones
vitamin D and parathyroid hormone. As seen previously, those eating an omnivore diet consumed
significantly more dietary protein than those consuming a vegan diet (2; 3). The values we
observed for dietary protein in both the vegan and the omnivore groups were similar to those seen
by Hadded et al. (3) and Janelle and Barr (2). The women in our study eating an omnivore diet
exceeded the RDA for protein. In contrast to other studies of vegetarians and vegans, our ... Show

We found no significant difference between the two diet groups in the serum vitamin D levels. A
study of vegan women in Finland found vegans to be deficient in vitamin D intake without
supplements or adequate sunlight exposure through vacations in sunny locations (12). The vegan
women in our study had adequate serum vitamin D levels, which may be the result of 1)
incorporating enough vitamin D in their diets possibly using fortified foods and supplements; 2)
they were exposed to adequate sunlight or 3) a combination of both.
Although reviews of the vegetarian diet (5; 13) warn that deficiencies in several micronutrients are
possible, the only marginal nutrient we found in the vegan group is calcium intake. There are
several possible reasons for this difference. Vegans may be more health conscious, physically more
active, and have a greater understanding of the role of nutrition in general health. As a result, they
may also consume more supplements. Another contributing factor may be the recent increase in
commercially available foods fortified with a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that may lead to
higher levels of intake when whole diets are examined. These results may be somewhat biased
compared to the general population because we studied young adult college women primarily.
Another possible confounding factor is the
Comparing HD-DVD and Blu-ray Technology Essay
Comparing HD DVD and Blu ray
Since 1997, DVD has been the #1 top selling format for home entertainment, crushing VHS within
a five year time frame. But technology is forever changing and it s only a matter of time before
DVD s go the way of VHS. With two new formats (High Definition DVD and Blu ray) on the
horizon, which one will win the race? Both formats use blue laser technology, which has a shorter
wavelength than red (DVD), allowing it to read the smaller digital data spots packed a lot more
densely onto a standard size disc. In other words, they hold a lot more memory than your standard
DVD s. The comparison chart shows that HD DVD and Blu ray disks will be pretty similar. Both
should be able to fit a high definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though under a thousand dollars, they wont be anywhere near the cost of today s DVD players
which retail for around a hundred dollars.
Panasonic, Samsung, Dell, HP, Philips and other notables back blu ray s captain, Sony. Blu rays
technology will go up to 50GB at launch, and Sony is reportedly working on a quad layer 100GB
disc (again check the chart for other facts on theses formats). This means technologically Blu ray
will have the advantage on that perspective. Not only that but, Sony is coming out with
PlayStation 3, which uses Blu ray, sometime this year. This means there is going to be a huge
market for this technology right off the bat. (Willis, Chris) Blu ray players are also scheduled for
release later in the year, also retailing for under a thousand dollars.
Blu ray has the most widely recognized technological edge over HD DVD. It offers 30 percent
more capacity and is also designed for recording high def video. Rewritable Blu ray RW discs,
with similar features to Panasonic s current DVD RAM discs, can play back content while
recording to the disc at the same time. Not only that but Sony owns Columbia Pictures and
recently bought MGM, which gives it a leg up on releasing movies. So in other words if you want
to watch your James Bond movies in HD DVD it s not going to happen. I m a huge James Bond
fan; and while that s not the biggest concern, it s definitely one for me and other James bond fans out
Women In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper
Throughout history, one of women s main struggles was the right to be their own individuals. They
have been suppressed, ignored, used, and abused. Until the 1920s, American women were
repressed in society, and it took years for society as a whole to recognize their rights as individuals.
Women have always been repressed in society. Until recently, women were viewed as property for
men. Women who spoke out for themselves, who did not fall into the mold that men gave them, who
tried to do anything that the men deemed only they could do, were ostracized. Throughout the years,
women have just learned to go with what the men tell them, because it makes their lives easier, even
if it means not expressing their own thoughts or feelings, just so they... Show more content on

She wrote in the beginning that I sometimes fancy that in my condition if I had less opposition
and more society and stimulus but John says the very worst thing I can do is to think about my
condition, and I confess it always makes me feel bad (Gilman). At the end of that writing session,
it said, There comes John, and I must put this away, he hates to have me write a word (Gilman).
She tried talking to him about how there might be something wrong with her mind, and he cut
her off, saying I beg of you, for my sake and for our child s sake, as well as for your own, that you
will never for one instant let that idea enter your mind! There is nothing so dangerous, so
fascinating, to a temperament like yours. It is a false and foolish fancy. Can you not trust me as a
physician when I tell you so? (Gilman). So not only did he repress her thoughts and would not
allow her to continue trying to say what she was thinking, but also included her last when he was
talking about why she should stop: for his sake, for their child s sake, and as well as her own. It
was almost as if she was just an afterthought in that
The Play Destiny Without Being Confused
Imagine trying to finish algebra homework and not knowing where to even start. That is what it
is like to play the video game Destiny without knowing how to play first. This video game is a
very large and complicated game to start. Going into the game blind can leave someone confused
and angry. This paper is going to explain how to efficiently play Destiny without being confused.
When someone first loads up Destiny, they must choose from three characters to begin the game.
There are three character slots as well, so they can make on of each kind of character or three of
the same kind of character. The possibilities are almost endless. The three characters to choose from
are a titan, a warlock, and a hunter. All three characters are really... Show more content on

That person can then level up this vendor by completing bounties, quests, playing the crucible,
completing strikes, or completing quests that are assigned to the player throughout the game.
The xp that levels up this vendor is called vanguard reputation. Strikes are just missions with a
bigger boss to kill at the end, and the crucible is just player vs player kind of like Halo. The level
system in destiny is kind of weird but simple. The player must race to level twenty to equip better
armor such as legendary and exotic armor and weapons. When the player hits level twenty, they
can no longer level up from doing bounties and completing missions, but they can now level up
their light by putting on legendary or exotic armor. Weapons do not count towards your light level,
so it does not matter what weapons the player has equipped; however, it is best to use legendary or
exotic weapons over any type of blue weapon because they do a ton more damage to enemies. Once
the player reaches light level twenty six, they get access to the normal Vault of Glass raid. When the
player has acquired the raid helmet, gauntlets, chest piece, and boots, they can then upgrade that
armor by turning in bounties while the gear is equipped. Once the player has obtained the highest
light possible from completing the Vault of Glass, which is thirty, they can then get access to the

Negative Aspects Of Rap Music
While there are many positive things associated with rap music, the negative aspects must also be
considered while assessing the true value of the genre. In several studies, rap music has been
found to promote violent behavior due to its aggressive nature and questionable messages. One
study, for example, showed that when listening to rap songs that contained violent lyrics, college
students were more likely to associate with violent words and commit hostile actions. In contrast,
music that contained no violent lyrics had no discernable effect on the subjects behavior (Palmer
15). Along with its violent nature, there is also the issue that some rap music is degrading to
women by portraying them as sex symbols and playthings for men. When this type of attitude is
broadcasted for young people to listen to, the false idea that it is acceptable to mistreat women is
presented. In addition to the degradation of women, some rappers also use their lyrics to create
distrust in the police and question the justice system (Giovacchini 2). Some rappers have no
respect for the law and glorify their criminal actions. This can leave the impression on young,
susceptible minds that criminal behavior can be considered cool or justifiable. While all of these
points are valid and must be addressed, one also cannot ignore the positive ways in which rap music
impacts youthand these aspects must be considered when assessing the value of the genre as a whole.
Although rap is sometimes
Reflective Essay On Service
To do service is to help others and to do justice is to serve. With limited service experience and
minimal justice work, I have a different understanding of what justice is and how I can do it as a
professional. The service work that I have done while at Creighton happened during my freshman
year. My idea of justicecomes from how I was raised, some personal experience, and one of the
readings that was discussed in class.
My experience with service while at Creighton started and ended my freshman year with the
Freshman Leadership Program. Because this service experience was three years ago I do not
remember all of the details and conversations that I had while doing this service, following is what I
remember of my service experiences. One of the service sites that I went to through this program was
the South Omaha Boys and Girls Club. At the club the members of the program were asked to play
with the kids, helped the children make crafts, and teach kids from 12 to 14 years of age about
bullying.
When I think about how I was feeling about this service I did not really understand how I was
helping out the organization or how this was really considered service. I was just walking around
talking to kids who could care less if I was there or not. When I think of who really benefitted from
me going to this service site once a week, my list starts with institutions, Creighton University, the
Freshman Leadership Program, the Boys and Girls Club. Then on a lesser scale
The Sediments Within The Intertidal Zone
The sediments in the intertidal zone are predominantly composed of silt and clay that display
substantial distribution in grain size distribution due to hydrodynamic and vegetation cover changes,
such as grass, mangroves and other plantations. Sediment pH, total Corg (%) and percentages of
sand, silt and clay obtained from the samples of 13 sampling stations are summarized in Table 2,
whilst sedimentpH was in a narrow alkaline range of 7.2 to 8.6. Similarly, Corg varied little from
0.47 to 0.91 %. Such low Corg are consistent to other coastal regions of India (Chatterjee et al.
2007) and might be the result of marine sedimentation and mixing processes at the sediment water
interface where the rate of delivery, as well as rates of degradation by microbial mediated
processes can be high ( Canuel and Martens, 1993). This can be also related to poor absorbability
of organics to negatively charged quartz grains, which predominate in sediments in this estuarine
environment (Sarkar et al., 2004). The sediment samples also showed a variable admixture of sand
(0.4 37.4 %), silt(24.4 66.7%) and clay (26.7 75.1 %). Previous studies demonstrated that fine grained
sediments facilitate the accumulation of heavier metals and organic matter contents (Bayen, 2012;
Yu et al., 2012; Zahra et al., 2014).With respect to texture class, variable erosionand depositions in
the study stations along with vigorous estuarine mixing, suspension resuspension and flocculation
deflocculation can
