Wife Of Bath Stereotypes
Before the rise of what is known today as feminism, Chaucer s The Wife of Bath s Tale introduces
an unorthodox character whom many women find relatable. The Wife embodies just about every
female stereotype created, wherein her character is greatly exaggerated. Although the Wife of Bath
breaks the traditional role of a submissive and obedient wife, her character illustrates and represents
the stereotypes and criticisms commonly thrown at women.
Seen as a representation of all women, the Wife of Bath s deceptive and scheming nature hints at
the stereotype that all women are untrustworthy. Her frank attitude and carefree acknowledgement
of past deceit harbors no hint of remorse; she relishes recounting her past endeavors, reciting her
despicable deeds as if they were any other fact. In the middle of her lengthy prologue, the Wife
readily shares her trickery: after her husbands drunken states, she would wail of the foul words cast
upon her, and out of pity receive anything she wished for, although she later informs the group that
all was false and acknowledges the pain and woe [she] did them, though they were innocent (4). The
Wife s indifference suggests that not only are women despicable, but they are also completely
unconcerned with the consequences of their actions. There is no ... Show more content on

Her adulterous nature is highly overdone and unrealistic. However, on the contrary, there exists some
truth in this over exaggeration. At the time of the story, the job of a woman was to obey her husband,
and it was unheard of for a woman to leave the confines of marriage to have an affair; the Wife
broke this traditional precept and was branded irregular. Finally, although her decision helps females
initiate the eventual break away from the unfortunate submission that came with marriage, it also
lands all women the stereotype of

My Mexican Culture
Many people used to think that their heritage means nothing to them, but for me it means a lot.
Growing up my family would always talk in Spanish or they would talk about how they love
being Mexican, but I never fully understood why being Mexican was so important to my family.
One day I decided to sit down with my parents, and ask them why is our Mexican heritage so
important? They would tell me all sorts of stories such as: how they were apart of a dance group
called Ballet Folklorico De Topeka, my mom would always tell me how she likes listening
/singing to music. Me personally Mexican music is so much better than songs in English. Why I
say that is because Mexican music is so much more poetic. As a little girl, I learned a lot about my
Mexican heritage. I even joined my parents in their dance group and still involved in it today.
Over the years it s been so fun, and it helped me learn a lot about different Mexican counties. Who
would ve thought that I would learn so much just by dancing. I know it sounds crazy, but it s the
truth. Also being a little girl I learned about Day Of The Deadwhich in Spanish is called dia de los
muertos which is a two day celebration. The day s in which this takes place is September 1 and
2nd. September 1st we honor the children and September 2nd we honor the adults. When I was
little I never fully understood why we celebrated people deaths. I always thought when someone
dies we show our respects and grief about it, but throwing a whole
##hagavad Gita As Duty And Virtue Ethics In Bina Gupta s...
What makes a person virtuous? What is virtue ethics and how does one display virtue ethics? These
questions have been asked and debated over and over again, each time resulting in different answers.
Bina Gupta attempts to answer this question of the ages in his article Bhagavad Gita as Duty and
Virtue Ethicsby declaring, So, who is a virtuous person? A virtuous person knows what she is
doing; chooses to act for herself; and acts through an expression of a stable and mature character. In
The Mahabharata translated and abridged by R.K. Narayan, there are many of the cast of thousands
that grow in their character and display virtueethics. Each of these characters develops through trial
and situations they are thrust into or unwisely place themselves in. There is one character that stands
out and clearly displays virtue ethicsthroughout the entirety of the narrative. This character is
Draupadi, the daughter of Drupada and wife to the Pandava brothers. Draupadi has a firm sense of
her beliefs, acts for herself, upholds the values of the culture, and holds others to the same standard
of virtuous behavior. Draupadi has a strong sense of what she believes are ethical decisions and
attitudes, and she lets these beliefs guide her actions. Dhritarashtra, the king of Hastinapur, said of
Draupadi Daughter, even in this trial you have stood undaunted holding on to virtue. (65)
Firstly, Draupadi is a strong character, who knows what she is doing and chooses to act for herself.
Newport News Shipbuilding And Dry Dock Company Case Study
Facts
Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (NNS) performs designs, construction, repair
and overhaul for ships, primarily for the United States Navy. On February 1987, the Defense
Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) issued a subpoena duces tecum to NNS demanding financial
statements, federal income tax return, Virginia income tax return and associated schedules for the
period 1 January 1983 to 1987. NNS provided the state tax returns to DCAA but withheld the
reminder of the subpoenaed documents claiming the demand was unlawful and unenforceable and
filed a declaratory judgement action which the Government moved to dismiss. The district court
denied DCAA s order for the documents and the Government appealed this decision. Issue

In this situation DCAA subpoenaed trial balance, adjusting entries, segment financial workpapers,
consolidating entries, formal consolidated balance sheet, income statement, Federal income tax
return and any other associated document (state income tax return was provided to DCAA.)
In its defense, NNS claimed that DCAA may subpoena materials that it is used only for determining
contract costs or data that is utilized for allocating costs to specific Government contracts. However,
these documents provide DCAA with factual data that is used to verify actual cost both direct and
indirect (i.e. G A overhead cost.) The court rejected NNS s argument that proposes that DCAA can
only review cost or pricing data used to calculate costs charged to the Government.
The basis of the rejection is documented in 10 U.S.C. Sec. 2313(a) and 2306a(f)(1) which authorize
DCAA to subpoena objective factual documents that can be used to evaluate the accuracy,
completeness, and currency of cost or pricing
Eric In J. B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls
An Inspector Calls is a morality play, which is a kind of allegorical drama having personified
abstract qualities as the main characters (the Inspector) and presenting a lesson about good conduct
and character. The play is also a whodunit, which is a complex, plot driven variety of the detective
story in which the audience is given the opportunity to engage in the same process of deduction as
the protagonist throughout the investigation of crime.

Before the play begins, Eric is described as half shy, half assertive and not quite at ease . Through
this description, Eric is portrayed as an uneasy character. An explanation as to why he is uneasy,
throughout the majority of the play, he is drunk. Although both his parents know that he enjoys
drinking a lot, Mrs Birling fails to accept that Eric is an alcoholic. ... Show more content on

This can be shown through Gerald and Arthur s words Gerald: ... Unless Eric s been up to

Although Mr. Birling is known as a hard headed man of business , he cares about his son, Eric

father, Arthur told him not to drink, while Goole did the contrary. Goole did so because he
wanted Eric to tell the truth about his relationship with Eva/Daisy. On the other hand, Mr. Birling
didn t give Eric a drink because he is aware of Eric s problem. To others, Arthur is seen as a cold
man, however, he cares about his family a lot and will go to great lengths to protect
Introduction. Bodies Rely Heavily On Oxygen Consumption
Introduction Bodies rely heavily on oxygen consumption to power all processes, internal or
external, and the more work being done, the more oxygen is needed. Lung capacity regulates how
much oxygen is taken in to diffuse into our cells for energy conversion. Lung development is
dependent on gender, age and intensity of physical activity (Lazovic et al., 2015). Lungexpansion can
present respiratory muscle strength, overall lung function and health advantages yet it is constantly
overlooked as a determiner of health (de Merdeiros, Fuzri, Rattesa, Brandão de Melo Marinho, 2017).
A recent study has shown data that supports the relation between lungs and health. Talwar et al.

The program recorded liters of air over 120 seconds per trial. Once the program was running, the
students clipped their nose to maximize the reading by minimizing nasal inhalation and exhalation.
With their arms braced against a flat surface, a trial run was completed and the sensor was zeroed
once the student was set. Without moving the sensor, the student completed four complete regular
breathing cycles. A maximum inspiration and expiration were recorded to measure the vital
capacity of the students lungs. The maximized breath was followed by a few cycles of recovery
breaths. Data displayed by Logger Pro was analyzed to determine total lung volume and individual
scores were added to the Life Science Core database.
Results
The Life Science Core provided a database that performed a t test on all the students inputted data.
For this experiment, data between individuals who identifies as yes swimmers and no swimmers in
the demographics quiz were compared. A total of 57 swimmers averaged a lung capacity of 6.199 L
with a standard deviation of 2.7532 L. A group of 984 non swimmers averaged a total lung capacity
of 6.267 L and a standard deviation of 2.2391 L. The database calculated a t value of 3.01 and a
corresponding p value of 0.003 with 1039 degrees of freedom.

Allowing teens to purchase violent or mature rated video games will increase the sales of the game
purchased and violent video games are known as a stress reliever.
History
Violence in video games dates all the way back to 1976. In 1976, there was an arcade game called
Death Race, and it was about running over stickmen with a car. The game was eventually banned
due to the violence it displayed. (Homeslice, Death Race (Game) , 2014) Back in the late 70 s to
the early 90 s, video games did not have a rating. There weren t a lot of violent video games for
home consoles at that time, and violent games that were released was usually unlicensed or
unofficial. According to Ryan Lamble, some of the earliest violent video games were Chiller,
Splatterhouse, and Jack the Ripper. (Lamble, The evolution of 80s videogame gore and mayhem ,
2013)
In 1994, a video game rating system known as ESRB was established due to gory and violent
games such as Mortal Kombat and Night Trap. The ESRB decides what age or ages a video game
should be appropriate for. The ESRB rating categories ranged from kids to adults to mature.
ESRB. SEARCH ESRB RATINGS. ESRB Ratings. N.p., n.d. Web. 08 May 2017. Today, the
ESRB rating still exists and recently the ESRB expanded to mobile games and apps. The ESRB
rating system for video games will exist in the future and it will continue to expand.
Problem Statement
The issue is underage teens are not allowed to purchase mature or violent video games due to
Modified Edema Research Paper
Synopsis: Comparing the Effects of Modified Manual with Traditional Edema Technique Jovel
Duatin Samuel Merritt University Department of Occupational Therapy Knygsand Roenhoej and
Maribo (2011) examined the effects of modified edema mobilization (MEM) treatment with MEM
pump points (MPP) stimulation technique and compared it with the traditional edema technique for
patients with subacute hand/arm edema. The effects were determined based on the outcome
measures that includes reduction in edema and pain, active range of motion (AROM), and activities
of daily living(ADL). It was hypothesized that modified MEM treatment will have better outcome
measures compared to the traditional edema technique. The study s design was single blinded,...

Subacute edema size was measured using a volumeter. The distance from the nail of the fingertip
to the proximal palmar crease was measured for AROM. The distance from the nail of the thumb
to the base of the fifth finger was used to measure thumb opposition. Moreover, pain was
measured using the visual analog scale. Patients ADL levels was assessed through a questionnaire
for bilateral activities and perceived performance and satisfaction with ADL was assessed using the
Canadian Occupational Performance Measure. The study had 30 participants originally but only 29
completed the treatments. There was a statistically significant decrease in edema, pain, and
improvement in AROM observed in both groups. There was a significant change in ADL observed
in modified MEM group that indicates that the group managed bilateral ADL activities quicker than
the control group. There was also a tendency for modified MEM group to receive fewer
occupational therapy session. However, there was no significant statistical difference found between
the groups in terms of pain during activity or at rest, AROM, and ADL at inclusion or after six and

Comparing The Triangular Trade And The Middle Passage
For many years African slaves were traded, mistreated, and killed innocently. Two events in which
Africans were involved in slave trade were the Triangular Trade the Middle Passage. The Middle
Passage, the forced voyage of enslaved Africans across the Atlantic Ocean to the New World. It was
a route from the Triangular Trade that took goods (including knives, guns, ammunition, and cotton)
from Europe to Africa, Africans to work as slaves in the Americas and West Indies, and items,
mostly raw materials, produced on the plantations (sugar, rice, tobacco, and indigo back to Europe.
From the mid 19th century, millions of African men, women, and children made the 21 to 90 day
voyage aboard grossly overcrowded sailing ships manned by crews mostly
Aristotle s Doctrine of the Mean
In this essay we will discuss and analyze Aristotle s Doctrine of the Mean. This topic area can be
found in Book II, page 888, 6 15, through 890, 25. The purpose for Aristotle touching on this
subject matter was to discern the states of character which are virtuous from those which are not.
By this, I mean he is attempting to categorize which virtues are causal of a human to be in a good
state and to perform their functions well (888 15). In order to keep this paper orderly and
comprehensible, we will work in chronological order through Aristotle s variety of premises and
conclusions which lead to his main idea which is . Aristotle begins his discussion on deficiency,
intermediate, and excess by introducing what he is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can prove this by looking at the opposite situation and reducing it down to an absurdity.
Suppose one is dining in a fine restaurant. Also suppose the perfect amount of steak to eat relative
to him is 3 ounces and he orders a steak of the finest quality but the portion served is 6 ounces. 6
ounces in this case is considered excess and 0 ounces considered deficient. He should restrict
eating the entire portion for if he did he may feel excessively full and therefore the steak which
was once the finest now seems to him the worst. If he did not eat any at all he would not
accomplish his goal of nursing himself. It seems so then that deficiency or excess may also cause
one to be in a state of false reality. This concept is what Aristotle is explaining when he refers to
ruining a good result. The person who is align with the intermediate is therefore closer to truth.
However, returning back to Pythagorean terminology, Aristotle divulges into what is limited
versus unlimited. The former being the good and the latter being badness. It follows that the
good is what is few and more difficult to realize and bad is what is great and easy to realize. Let us
now look to another example to demonstrate our understanding. Suppose we are looking at
someone preparing for a test. If he is to study day in and day out he is likely to become tired,
resulting in a poor score. This is the excess and
