Sir Elton John Research Paper
Sir Elton Hercules John or just Elton John was born on march 25th 1943. He is an English singer,
pianist, and composer. Also making cameos in movies. Also he one of pop music s great survivors.
He started playing the age of four. At the shocking age of eleven he got a scholarship to the Royal
Academy of Music. His first band was Bluesology. He grew up in the Pinner area of London, John
learned to play piano at an early in life and by 1962 had formed Bluesology. He has worked with
many performers like ED Sheeran. On the advice of music publisher Steve Brown, John and
Taupin started writing more complex songs for Elton John to record for DJM. The first was the
single I ve Been Loving You in 1968. Taupin and John wrote the songs for Mad Man
Bolivar s End Of The Second Republic
Bolivar returned to fight another day in 1813. He declared a war to the death against Spain. He
gained support from Colombia and drove the Spanish out of the Magdalena River area and
amassed himself a large army. Civilian leaders in Cartagena then gave him permission to liberate
western Venezuela. He did so and continued to take Caracas in August of 1813. This was known
as Simon Bolivar s Admiral Campaign . He went on to declare a second republic and assumed his
role as a military dictator. The Second Republic collapsed within a few months, however, because
Bolivar had failed to win the support of the non white, many of whom were instead recruited to
fight with those loyal to the king. What also led to the fall of the Second Republic was the
Infernal Legion that consisted of skilled lancers claiming to give back to the poor and loyal to
Spain. Led by Thomas Boves they fought the patriots, under General Jose Felix Ribas, at the
battle of La Puerta where Boves won. General Ribas was able to keep him out of Caracas until the
second battle of La Puerta June 1814 where the patriot army was in disarray and devastation. Boves
took Valencia and then Caracas bringing a fall to the Second Republic of Venezuela. After the defeat,
Bolivar returned to New Grenada until 1815. Under the Second Republic Bolivar and his war to the
death killed any Spaniard he came across if they were not active on the patriot side creating the
bloodiest part of this revolution. Therefore
Vasco Da Gama Research Paper
Vasco Da Gama Dear Museum Explorers Board, I m am going to explain to you today, why I
think Vasco Da Gama is a villain and why I think he should be in your exhibit. As you may
already know, he found a direct sea route from Europe to Asia and was the first European to sail to
India by going around Africa. His discovery of the route to India around Africa allowed the
Portuguese to create a colonial empire in Asia. It also meant that sailors would not have to cross
the Mediterranean or Arabia, which was considered to be very dangerous at that time. His discovery
also made it possible for the Portuguese empire to improve its trade, which helped the economy.
When he landed in Calicut India on May 20, 1498, the Europeans thought the locals were
Research Paper On Plastic Pollution

Policy Analysis Paper:

Introduction:
While taking one of my SMC courses at St.Mary s University, my professor began a discussion on
plastics pollution and the effects it has on the environment. My professor began to talk more and
more about this uncharted territory known as plastic pollution I never knew plastic was so harmful
and what it is doing to our environment. What I knew then does not compare to what I know now.
Everything that I have included in this research paper stems from what I have learned and the
policies we have in the United States, the state of Texas, and the city of San Antonio.
Issue Definition:
Here I identified the who what when and how and the main issue ... Show more content on

The Solution: would be to either provide incentivized programs and or tax on plastic, or leave
everything the way it is.
I will attempt to analyze our current use of programs to prevent further plastic pollution the San
Antonio area, and whether or not we stay with the status quo, implement buyback programs or tax
people who want plastic bags.
The defining issue at hand is the increasing plastic presence, the pollution it brings along with, the
disposal we provide, or do not provide. Plastic is going to be one of the leading issues in the next
few years, right next to climate change.

Background: Plastic is made up of carbon, this is a man made product which is specifically from
oil. There were other creations before the discovery of plastic, in 1923 it was the Macintosh and
rubber, then in 1839 the company Goodyear combined rubber and sulfur creating moldable stable
substance, this process is known as vulcanization. In the 1850 s though 1870 s there was the ivory
trade and billiard balls, and in 1909 the create of modern plastics, Bakelite. Then in 1930 we created
the thermoplastic.
There are 7 different type of plastics, polyethylene, polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyvinyl
chloride, polytetrafluorethylene, polyvinylidene, and polypropylene. Polyethylene, is the more
commonly found plastic, this is our plastic bags, soda and water bottles, plastic films and their
cases, and garbage bags. Polystyrene, in
Gender Stereotypes In America
Whether it is watching a show on the television at home, or being outside in the real world, it is
pretty self explanatory that every person wants to feel represented and supported, felt like they
are noticed or acknowledged in today s society. No one wants to feel as if they are an outcast or are
inferior to someone or some group. Lately, there have been cases of certain groups of people being
excluded from TV. Specifically, African Americanwomen. Is this really just a coincidence, or is
something going on? Does TV really represent the diversity of Americans yet? It is evident that TV
is not that diverse, but should be more diverse because people should be integrated with each other
instead of separated, it forms stereotypes, and because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, directors wanting to make their shows centered on people in the LGBT community
can sometimes over exaggerate the idea, tinting the proposition of what people have in their
minds of this community. From this, stereotypes can form, especially in the minds of children
that are easy to sway because they are still forming opinions. People who only go off of the media
s portrayal of gays can have skewed ideas about them. For example, there was a show called The L
Word. The L word they are talking about is Lesbian. With a name like this, you know what the
show is about and most likely what it is going to say. A more familiarized show, Good Luck
Charlie does in a small way also taint minds, geared towards the younger crowd. As you can see,
these shows can also form stereotypes for you. A lot of people, however, would argue that there
is more diversity in TV than there ever was. For example, TV shows such as How to Get Away
With Murder and Master of None help to stimulate the idea of diversity. There are more TV shows
now with more than just whites, and no one can argue with that, but after closer analysis you have
to think how many shows are there not featuring them in a staged way, but everyone is just together
in a natural setting? Why can t people just learn to get over things that happened in the past?
Diversity in TV exists more, but there is still a lot more progress to be
Similarities Between Zaabalawi And The Alchemist
Naguib Mahfouz s short story Zaabalawi and Paolo Coelho s novel The Alchemist both trace the
encounters of a narrator who embarks on a spiritual journey. The works are strikingly similar in that
they are both are organized as quest narratives, and both are set in the middle east with the same
endgame in mind: enlightenment. As Santiago from The Alchemist and the unnamed narrator from
Zaabalawi travel, they embody the seeker archetype, and from each person they meet, they gain
wisdom and strength. Despite similarities of plot and character, however, the narratives draw
different conclusions. While Coelho s novel stands out as a quasi religious tribute to mental fortitude
and universal oneness, Mahfouz s short story touches on the spiritual... Show more content on

In both stories, a strongly developed narrator is aided by a notably transient supporting cast. One
such member of Santiago s supporting cast is the King of Salem, who tells Santiago he will help
him find the hidden treasure because Santiago has succeeded in discovering [his] personal legend
(21). A whole cast of characters, from the Englishmen to the Alchemist, go on to advance
Santiago s cause in a very explicit manner. They provide him money, wisdom, or experience. The
Alchemist is especially notable: derived from the books title, his character is sagacious and and
possess complete understanding of the Soul of the World. In the work, the Soul of the World is
associated with spiritual growth; in Mahfouz s story, the idea of Zaabalawi functions similarly.
Characters in the latter tale become progressively more in touch with Zaabalawi, who seems to
represent some sort of spiritual presence. In general, Mahfouz s story is more implicit, but also
more structured. The only information provided about Zaabalawi is that he s a true saint of God, a
remover of worries and troubles, but with each new interaction, the narrator s acquaintances become
closer to the presence of Zaabalawi with each new interaction. This correlation can then be used to
infer about the true nature of this spiritual being. The first character met by the narrator, Seikh
Qamar, is cushioned by a layer of luxurious materialism: in his office, noted are a beautiful woman
with...intoxicating perfume, a fine leather upholstered chair, and a costly carpet, among other things
(883). The man is dismissive, cold, and materialistic: he represents a modern figure distanced from
spirituality. The next characters are more artistic and increasingly able to balance attributes of
traditionalism and modernism. Character two, a local sheikh, wears

Introduction
Chemical equilibrium is the study of change within a chemical reaction and how far it will go to
reach a dynamic equilibrium (Burdge). Dynamic equilibrium is defined as the constant movement of
species in a chemical reaction, gone to incompletion while the rates of production and consumption
are equal (Kf = Kr ) (Burdge). It differs from static equilibrium in that species are constantly being
consumed and produced, it is dynamic movement (Fox). The concentration of such species do not
change, it remains constant (Fox). The rate at which species are being
Wormwood, or Artemisia Maritima Essay
Wormwood, or Artemisia Maritima, is a low maintenance plant that is easy to grow. This plant is
great for beginning herbologists. In the wild, sea wormwood grows along the seashore in Europe
and Asia. Wormwood is a hardy plant that can tolerate drought, maritime exposures and
temperatures as low as 15C. It has a sweet lavender like smell but is very bitter to the taste. It is easy
to identify from a distance by its silver gray colour. It is a flowering plant, growing close to two
metres high. The leaves are narrow, covered with silver velvety fur. It has small yellow oblong
flowers, containing three to six florets, in August and September. They are hermaphrodite and are
pollinated by the wind. In the following, I shall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to treating the wizarding community for their ailments, I could use a wormwood potion
to help increase the appetite of cows as well as repel slugs, insects, and mice. Its fragrant branches
can be put into linen closets and mattresses to drive out moths and fleas, and in shoes to prevent tired
feet.

I grow this plant in light sandy, medium loamy, salty soil that is well drained but moist with a pH
of 6 to 7.6. I keep it in full sunlight. I sow the seeds from late winter to early summer in my
greenhouse. I must ensure that the compost does not dry out. When they are large enough to handle,
I plant the seedlings into individual pots. There can up to 50,000 seeds on each stem which are
viable for three to fours years! I keep them in the greenhouse during their first winter.

In the late spring to early summer of their next year, I plant them outside. The plants must be
planted two feet apart. I prune half of the ripe wood in July or August and divide the plants in the
spring or the fall. They regrow from ground level each spring. It is difficult to manage wormwood
once it is established, as it reduces biodiversity.

This plant is poisonous in large qualities and must be kept out of the reach of children and pets.
Ingesting small quantities may cause nervous disorders, convulsions and insomnia. The scent may
cause headaches in some sensitive people as well as allergies and asthma. This plant is
