The Revolutionary War By David Mccullough Essay
1776 written by David McCullough was a very accurate portrayal of the the revolutionary war. The
author chose to write the events with mostly a non biased perspective and was able to use multiple
sources from the time. This allowed the author to write the book in an interesting way and inform
the reader of this vital time in the nation s history. The book focuses on the life and struggles of
George Washingtonas he progresses through life and the war. It was helpful that the author showed
his perspective and thoughts as he grew to become the leader many people think him as today. It is
stated that George washington was not a very strong leader when he took control on July third, but
it was his perseverance and unrelenting determination that ultimately won the war. Also, The author
chose to give insight into the other important leaders who influenced how the war progressed
through the year. This was not only accomplished by direct quotes but the author also explained
why some decisions were made on both sides made the events less complicated. The fact that the
author chose to focus of Washington and the troops lives also made it more personal and it helped
that the narrative did not jump around to give an overview of the war from all perspectives.
The first character that was introduced in the book was George III, King of England. He arrives in
his colossal golden chariot pulled by eight magnificent cream colored horses which signified the
power and wealth of england at
Burial Rites Landscape and Weather
How does Hannah Kent make the landscape and weather an integral part of the novel?

Amidst the journey of the last woman executed in Iceland is the nature [that] is watchful of all of
us. Kent parallels the protagonist Agnes story alongside the force of the harsh Icelandic climate and
country that is as awake as you and I and often determines key events in the novel. The ominous
foreshadowing of death represented in elements of the landscape highlights how the country is an
essential aspect of the novel, often adding to the dramatic effect. Agnes road to spiritual redemption,
both religion based and personal, is greatly influenced by the natural occurrences of the country.

Agnes s spiritual atonement , helping to guide her home is regularly influenced by the state of the
weather and natural occurrences on the landscape. Agnes is offered two experiences of redemption
in the novel. One being predominately religious, aided by reverend Toti and the other being sense
of belonging and acceptance to a family. In this heavily Christian society, Agnes is given a spiritual
advisor, who takes on the responsibility to save her. As Agnes begins to confide in Toti and learn to
rely on him the weather gradually becomes increasingly miserable rendering it difficult for the two
to meet. At the climax of the novel, travelling to Kornsa in this unfit weather has resulted in Toti s
fever leaving Agnes scared and deprived of her confidant. Despite Toti representing her divine
redemption, the two form an alliance stemming from predominately companionship, demonstrated
when Toti forgot his New Testament at home when going to meet Agnes. Additionally, Agnes is
emotionally redeemed when experiencing a sense of belonging at Korsna. Amidst the natural process
of childbirth occurring in the landscape Agnes aids the newborn by recognizing it is in breach. This
Sethe s Perception Of Slavery In Beloved By Toni Morrison
Sethe proposes to give Beloved a chance at freedom. In her stream of consciousness, she justifies
her actions by confessing if I hadn t killed her she would have died and that is something I could
not bear to happen to her (Morrison 114). Her children are better off dead, their fantasy futures
protected from the heinous reality of slaveryShe neglects her own well being for the safety of her
children. She refuses to allow her children to be dirtied by slavery to the point where you forgot
who you were and couldn t think it up (Morrison 250). Morrison shows Sethe s understanding of
how destructive slavery is to one s overall perception of themselves. Sethe says that her children are
her best thing, her beautiful, magical best thing the

in Ebola cases? What were some of the other agents that Nancy worked on and had vaccinations
for? It is important to dissect the organs as soon as possible because the organs start liquidating.
The tissue was softened and turned into jelly by the virus. Nancy had vaccinations for yellow

botulism. 20. Why are gloves portrayed as the most important part of the defense against Ebola?.
What is the decon shower for and what is the value of the pressurized suit? The gloves are a barrier
between the virus and the person as the hands handle the sharp objects. The decon shower was used
to decontaminate the person before they left the room. It is also used for emergencies to kill any
organisms that may have gotten on the person. The suit protects those who work in Level

Comparative Analysis of Adaptive Threshold Based Spectrum Sensing Techniques in Cognitive
Radio Networks
Abstract: In the last two decades, the number of wireless communication users and its applications
increasing rapidly. With this rapid growth there exists spectrum scarcity. One of the best solutions to
avoid spectrum scarcity is cognitive radio with its dynamic spectrum sensing. Cognitive radio is a
promising technology, which is used to sense the unused spectrum in an appropriate manner. Various
methods have been proposed in the past, such as energy detection, matched filter and so on [1 6 7].
Different techniques serve different purpose based on their advantages and disadvantages.
In this paper, the author suggests an approach of dynamic threshold to increase the probability
detection of spectrum sensing. Spectrum sensing using energy detection, matched filter detectors
based on fixed threshold and dynamic threshold are simulated using MATLAB. The performance of
energy detection, matched filter detector is compared by plotting probability detection versus signal
to noise ratio graph.
Keywords: Spectrum Sensing, Cognitive Radio, Wireless Communication, Energy Detection,
Matched Filter, Probability Detection and Threshold.
I. Introduction: The recent trend in cognitive radio related research has altered s great of deal of
interest in spectrum sensing and detection of radio users in the environment [5]. In general, the
spectrum user signals are categorized into primary
The Live 8 Concert Of Hyde Park
On July 2, 2005, the Live 8 concert was held in Hyde Park with the goal of highlighting the
problems of poverty in the world (BBC, 2005, n.p.). On July 6, 2005, the Olympic Committee
announced that London was going to host the 2012 Olympic games. On July 7, 2005, world
leaders were gathering in Gleneagles, the G8 Summit (Report of the Official Account of the
Bombings in London, May 11, 2006). The citizenship was in high spirits. On the morning of July 7,
2005 four suicide bombers created chaos in the London Subway and the transportation system by
self detonating three bombs in the underground subway system and one bomb on a double decker
bus. This was an act of terrorism. The bombings cost the lives of 56 citizens including the four
bombers and injured over 700 (Report of the Official Account of the Bombings in London, May 11,
2006). Responding agencies and the health care system were quickly overwhelmed. The subway
system as well as above ground transportation in the Camden borough was shut down. Immediately
after the attacks, law enforcement and counterintelligence agencies initiated measures to identify the
bombers and to prevent any further attacks. The investigation included analyzing the events leading
up to the attacks, and the response during and immediately after the attacks. Through investigation
the counterintelligence community can identify measures that can be implemented to better respond
to the global threat of terrorism, such as the benefits of redundant
William Shakespeare s The Literary Cannon
Year 10 pre IB English
Unit: Masters in Pieces
Part B: Tomos Gardiner
Why is the original text counted as part of the literary cannon?
The reason why Sonnet 130 is a part of the literary cannon is because the Sonnets introduce a very
strict system needed to follow to even be considered a sonnet. All of Williams Shakespeare s pieces
are incredible but the Sonnets are special. All the Sonnets have to follow a strict set of rules this
includes being fourteen line long and follow an ABABCDCDEFEFGG rhyme system. The
creation of one of these Sonnets would be a challenge however Shakespeare developed 154 of
them and so there are 2156 lines. This just goes to show the commitment and creativity of
William Shakespeare. Each Sonnet also has a Problem or Issue for the first eight stanzas then
Opinion on the Problem for stanza nine to twelve and finally a Resolution for the last two
stanzas. The Problem or Issue is that this Mistress is not the ideal woman. The Opinion on the
Problem is the He (The man describing the mistress does not know the ideal woman. Lastly, the
Resolution can be seen to be that He loves besides of all these flaws or he is saying she will do .
This is why Sonnet 130 is part of literary canon because of the meaning and the strict structure that
has to be followed making it very hard to create this Sonnet.
What is the possible authorial intention in the original text?
The possible authorial intention in Sonnet 130 could be seen as very sweet
Essay on The Baroque Art Style
The Baroque Art Style

The era known as the Baroque period includes the seventeenth and most of the eighteenth
centuries in Europe. The Baroque style was a style in which the art and artists of the time focused
upon details and intricate designs. Their art often appeals to the mind by way of the heart. During
this time the portraits began to portray modern life, and artists turned their backs on classical
tradition. Much of the art shows great energy and feeling, and a dramatic use of light, scale, and
balance (Preble 302). Buildings were more elaborate and ornately decorated. These works of art
created history and altered the progress of Western Civilization. Architecture such as the palace of

He tended to explore the darker aspects of life and death in his paintings. Rebelling against
conventional ideas divine intervention, Virgin Mary, and death he came to create his own style,
forcing civilization ahead, and forcing others to follow his path. His paintings show pleading
through man s direct knowledge of God (Cunningham and Reich 1640). By revolting against the
classical traditions, he created his own style, which other artists wished to portray also. Thus, he
created a forward movement in the fashion of art and architecture. Rembrandt was also an artist
who wished to depict art in a new manner. He is known for being a fashionable portrait painter. In
paintings such as Bathsheba, Rembrandt uses classical ideas and studies from nature to achieve
balance. He perceived old images in a new light, transforming them into the light of human
experience (Cunningham and Reich 183). He used contrast between light and darkness, and rich
textures in order to create depth and enhance the emotional power of the portrait. Just as Caravaggio
did, Rembrandt created a path in art and others followed.
Jan Vermeer was a Dutch painter who fascinated by the use of light in his paintings. Unlike
Caravaggio and Rembrandt, who used light for dramatic emphasis, Vermeer concentrated on the
way light reveals each color, texture, and detail of the physical world (Preble 307). Vermeer

Long-Term Effects Of Cyberbullying
Aftermath

Zachary Kuelbs Bullying can have negative effects on many different people. The effects can vary
depending on the kind of bullying. No matter what type is used, it can be harmful. Cyberbullying and
physical bullying both have their own consequences. Mark Dombeck, an expert and Ph.D. stated, It
seems to me that bullying is just one of those things that are just part of human nature. Something
that can be suppressed but not eliminated , in his article about the long term effects of bullying. He
states that bullying can be suppressed and people are working hard every day to do so.

According to edotopia.org the best time to stop bullying is before it begins or becomes serious.
You should make sure to watch out for warning signs that the harassment is going on.
Stopbullying.gov warns that not all children who are victims show warning signs. You should
watch for changes in appearance, personality, or actions. Some of the signs are sudden injuries,
lost or destroyed possessions, bad sleeping, drop in academic activity, loss of acquaintances, or
low self esteem. Cyberbullying.org gives tips on how teens can help stop online harassment from
getting to them in the first place. The steps given are to educate yourself, protect yourself, keep
your photos PG, never open unidentified messages, log out of online accounts, pause before you
post, raise awareness, set up privacy controls, Google yourself and do not become an oppressor
yourself. A bystander can help stop bullying by confronting the bully, or if you prefer a safer route
you can report the harassment, a valid point made by eyesonbully.org. Bystanders can become
upstanders and bullying can end in up to ten seconds. If a person were to stay a bystander they may
promote a bully to go further. The bystanders can promote harassment by laughing or congratulating
Real Estate Agent Cons
PROS AND CONS OF SELLING YOUR HOUSE WITHOUT AN AGENT
Years ago, brokers had a lock on the dissemination of information for homes. Back in the day,
brokers had great books (the same size as phone books) that came out weekly or monthly with the
list of all properties in a given area. Those books were owned by real estate agents and not shared
with the public. If you are looking for a home, you could drive around neighborhoods to look for for
sale signs or you can talk to a broker and get a list of them.
Now you can just go online and view the homes available for sale in your area from a variety of
sites. The bulk of the information is the same from site to site, because after all it does come from
real estate companies listings. In some cases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This keeps you effectively familiar with the desires of potential purchasers, keeping you at an
advantage. The sales pitch that you offer these individuals will be more definite than one given by
any representative. The main necessity is that you prepare yourself in the art of persuasion.
THE CONS
1. Hard work
It takes considerable time to find buyers for your house. The Internet proves to be of great assist in
this endeavor, but only to an extent. You have to take it upon yourself to ultimately show each and
every prospective buyer around your house whenever needed. In addition, each time you have to
attend to the professional duties, you ll probably turn out losing the possibility to show another
potential buyer around.
2. Losing Out on the Best Deals
It comes as no surprise that realtors often find very good deals to suit your needs. Their actions have
been in your interests, simply because the more they sell your property for, the more money they
wind up making. You also have to take into consideration the fact that the realtors have a well
established network which helps them in locating buyers much faster than you

Walden by Henry David Thoreau
The book Walden by Henry David Thoreau was published in 1854. The book is a detailed critique
of how modern man is living his life. This life is not fulfilling as people are too busy chasing
material items that really do not add value to their lives. The main theme in this excerpt is
simplicity. When you live a simple life you get to have the opportunity and the time to enjoy life s
precious pleasures. Life becomes more fulfilling if it is lived in this manner. Henry David Thoreau
wrote the book while living in isolation in a cabin near Walden Pond. The author has been described
as being one of the greatest transcendentalists to ever live.
