How Chinese Policies Helped Strengthen Or Weaken Uyghur...
Introduction Out of the fifty five recognized ethnic minorities within China, Uyghur is the 5th
largest population out of the 8.3 million. Uyghur independence movements started in 1933, their
primary aim was to create a sovereign state called East Turkestan within the region currently known
as Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China (XUAR). This thesis seeks to answer the question
of how the Chinese government s policies towards the Uyghur s, a Turkish Muslim group living
predominately in the North Western Chinese province Xinjiang, have influenced the political
strengthening of the Uyghur s. The aspect of this question will be explored: Have the Chinese
policies helped to strengthen or weaken Uyghur identity? Additionally, the hypothesis for the
research question is that the Chinese policies have not favored nor shaped the Uyghur s interest.
Chinese Government s Policies The Chinese government s policies toward the Uyghur s in
Xinjiang is broken down into two broad categories. The first category consists of policies that are
focused on the assimilation and social and economic development of Uyghur s. These policies
include regulations on minorities languages, and affirmative action policies in education. The
second category is made up of what is called hard policies. This hard approach includes restrictions
on civil liberties such as freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom
of the press. Beginning in the early 200s, the Chinese
John Brown Research Paper
Hello Everyone,
John Brown was a revolutionary abolitionist who felt very strongly about ending slavery. He was
born in 1800 and died in 1859. His birthplace was Torrington, Connecticut. He belonged to a very
loving family with very strong anti slavery beliefs. He tied the knot twice and brought forth 20
children from those unions.

Brown had several business endeavors that failed. In 1842 he filed bankruptcy. He began working
as a conductor with the Underground Railroad in order to support the abolitionist cause. He also
started the League of Gileadites, which was organized to aid runaway slaves fleeing to Canada. He
later moved to a free black farming community in New York.

In 1856, at the age of 55, Brown and his sons moved to Kansas Territory, John Brown accompanied
by a small army of his four sons and two other men set out along the Pottawatomie Creek and
brutally murdered five men and boys whom they believed were promoting slavery. Later on Brown
raided Missouri, where he murdered a slave owner and freed 11 of his slaves. ... Show more content

In 1859, John Brown, also know as Issac Smith, leased the Kennedy Farmhouse, just miles from
Harper s Ferry, Virginia. Brown planned out his attack on Harper s Ferry. He was going to
provide local slaves with weapons. He was hoping to pose fear in the slave owners. Despite the
planning, nothing went accordingly. The slaves didn t join his army as expected. The local police
and the US Marines under the authority of Robert E. Lee, put an end to the raid. Most of Brown s
men were killed or captured including his sons. Although, he was wounded badly, he was put on
trial very fast and was found to be guilty of murder, treason, and inciting slave insurrection in
Virginia. John Brown was put to death by hanging on December
Once The Wart Character Analysis
The Wart walked up to the great sword for the third time. He put out his right arm softly and drew it
out as gently from a scabbard. (198). The Wart, a nickname for soon to be King Arthur was a
modest, curious, young boy who was into adventure. Once the Wart was crowned king, he was
named King Arthur. King Arthurgrew from a timid boy to become a strong ruler with the help of his
tutor Merlyn. The theme of might and right that recurred several times was based on Arthur. The
Wart was always good hearted both young and old, but when he pulled the sword from the stone he
had to apply all his lessons and morals to his rule. T.H. White uses might and right to prove that
Arthur is exceptional for his devotion and belief in Merlyn s ideas. Instead,... Show more content on

Arthur is a successful king, because he worked hard to understand Merlyn s morals and apply it
to his own system of governance. In order to obtain great power like Arthur did, you need might.
Arthur utters his explanation through a few words saying, Why can t you harness Might so that
it works for right? I know it sounds nonsense, but, I mean, you can t just say there is no such
thing. The Might is there, in the bad half of people, and you can t neglect it. You can t cut it out,
but you might be able to direct it, if you see what I mean, so that it was useful instead of bad.
(241). This quote shows that T.H. White proves force to equal justice and that Arthur can make a
seperation between power and justice. Arthur is remembered for his image of a civilized society,
and not for his role on the battlefield. He notices the good and bad of common people and allows
them to equal each other out. For example, under King Arthur s rule, Knights are allowed to fight
for a reason, but not for pity fun. Arthur uses Merlyn s knowledge from the lessons and turning into
multiple creatures to maintain a just political system with a progressive civilization. All of his
encounters with the warlike ants and the wise badger taught him to find might equals right. He grew
to believe in doing what is right and that everything in his society is considered right. His success
The Angelman Syndrome
ANGELMAN SYNDROME 3 Angelman syndrome Angelman syndrome was first identified by
Harry Angelman in 1965. It is a genetic disorder and Angelman noted the disease as a unique
syndrome by the presence of several children in his practice as having flat heads, jerky movements,
protruding tongues, and bouts of laughter (Stรถppler 2012: 1). Symptoms usually become notable
from ages 6 to 12 months and about 1 in 12,000 to 20,000 people are affected. Although children
with Angelman syndrome are prone to epileptic seizures from age two onward, their life expectancy
is otherwise normal. Identifiers of Angelman syndrome include cognitive and developmental delays
and problems with coordination of speech and movement (Stรถppler 2012:1). Children with
Angelman syndrome are also often described as hyperactive. Children appear normal at birth but
often begin to have feeding problems and do not meet expected developmental milestones. The
characteristics typical of Angelman syndrome derive from the loss of function of a gene called
UBE3A which is derived from the mother (Stรถppler 2012). People normally inherit one copy of the
UBE3A gene from each parent and both are activated in most of the body (Angelman syndrome,
2011, Genetics Home Reference). However, in certain areas of the brain...only the copy inherited
from a person s mother (the maternal copy) is active...If the maternal copy of the UBE3A gene is
lost because of a chromosomal change or a gene mutation, a person will
Analysis Of Hamlet s Hamlet
Hamlet s Hamartia Shakespeare s longest play is Hamlet, which takes place in the Kingdom of
Denmark. Hamlet is a tragic tale about the Prince of Denmark and is a drama about revenge. Prince
Hamlet is visited by his father s ghost who demands he kill his uncle, Claudius, after Claudius killed
Hamlets father. Yet despite being ... the son of a dear father murdered, prompted to my revenge
by heaven and hell, Hamlet delays enacting vengeance on Claudius (II,2,584 585). This delay
ultimately leads to Ophelia s madness and the death of several other characters, including Hamlet
himself. Hamlet s hamartia, or fatal flaw, which leads him to delay in enacting revenge, can be
characterized by fate, hubris and indecision. This indecisiveness occurs because old Hamlet s
demand puts Hamlet in a difficult situation, where he has to choose between seeking revenge on
behalf of his father, and knowing that this revenge will most likely lead him to hell. He knows
that he must kill his father s murderer, but he has moral and religious issues with this since it is
wrong to kill someone. This play shows Hamlet being forced into a role that is impossible for him
to complete because of his conscience. Hamlet s first fatal flaw is that of fate; Hamlet makes
decisions and critical mistakes which seal his fate. This happens due to his personal character flaws
because they influence his self destructive decisions. For example, when he says, Oh cursed spite
that ever I was born
Effects Of School Achievement On Children
School achievement outcomes are also life impacting. Often the only way out of poverty is an
education that can provide them with a job which can meet their income needs. If a child s school
achievement is affected by poverty, they have a higher chance of dropping out and continuing
poverty in their generation. Effects of schoolachievement are measured by if the child has repeated
a grade, suspended or expelled, and/or dropped out before graduating. A large amount of children
that live in povertywill repeat a grade due to limit educational tools to provide them with practice at
home. If the child has behavior problem, then they may be expelled for acting out or misbehaving,
this affects their learning as they are not in class learning. The percentage of children living poverty
that are affected by school achievement outcomes are 2 3 times greater than children not living in in
this state of being. Emotional or behavior outcomes are measured by tantrums, outbursts and
aggression, this usually persist beyond the normal age range expected. Poor children suffer from
emotional and/or behavior outcomes more often than children living in non poverty. These effects
are displayed at school and at home, occasionally in public places such as the mall, and causes
disturbances such as violence. Emotional problems also include internal problems such as anxiety
and depression, which can cause the child to disassociate themselves from social opportunities.
These children are often
The Lord s Standing Law Of Marriage
Latter day Saints believe that the marriage of one man and one woman is the Lord s standing law of
marriage. In biblical times, the Lord commanded some to practice plural marriage the marriage of
one man and more than one woman.1 By revelation, the Lord commanded Joseph Smith to institute
the practice of plural marriageamong Church members in the early 1840s. For more than half a
century, plural marriage was practiced by some Latter day Saints under the direction of the Church
President.2

Latter day Saints do not understand all of God s purposes in instituting, through His prophets, the
practice of plural marriage. The Book of Mormon identifies one reason for God to command it: to
increase the number of children born in the gospel covenant in order to raise up seed unto [the
Lord]. 3

Plural marriage did result in the birth of large numbers of children within faithful Latter day Saint
homes. It also shaped 19th century Mormon society in many ways: marriage became available to
virtually all who desired it; per capita inequality of wealth was diminished as economically
disadvantaged women married into more financially stable households; and ethnic intermarriages
were increased, which helped to unite a diverse immigrant population. Plural marriage also helped
create and strengthen a sense of cohesion and group identification among Latter day Saints. Church
members came to see themselves as a peculiar people, covenant bound to carry out the commands of
God despite outside
