In Depth look at Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, is a complex developmental disorder which is usually
diagnosed during the first 3 years of life. The disorder is characterized by severe difficulty or
inability in communicating, socializing, forming relationships with others, and responding
appropriately to the environment. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders, or DSM IV, ASD was one of the diagnosis covered under the Persuasive Developmental
Disorders category. The other diagnoses that were part of this category included Rett s Disorder,
Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, Asperger s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Autism has become one of the fastest growing developmental disorder in the recent years. In the
year 2000, the prevalence of ASD was 1 out of 150 school age children (Schaefer, 2016, pg***).
According to the latest data by the Center of Disease Control, or CDC, it is estimated that the
incidence is now 1 in every 68 children that is diagnosed with autism in the United States. It is also
estimated that autism is approximately 4.5 times more common among boys (1 in 42) than among
girls (1 in 189) (CDC, 2014).
Risks and Predisposing Factors
From the time autism was identified in the 1940s, several theories have tried to explain its
etiology. The earliest theories proposed as origin of autism was framed in the context of the early
psychiatric models in the 1940 s, and believed that autism was an acquired condition associated with
children raised by cold, emotionally distant mothers (Schaefer, ***). Another early hypothesis
proposed as being a risk for developing autistic disorder was the use of the measles mumps rubella
vaccine or the preservative thimerosal, but this hypothesis has been disproved (Anagnostou,
Zwaigenbaum...., pg 510). It is now known that autism is a condition with a strong genetic basis,
with more than 80% heritability (Meng chang pg 903), but just like almost every medical condition
known to man, it has several genetic and environmental risk factors. As mentioned earlier, autistic
disorder is 4.5 times more common in males than females, which
Reflection Paper On Drills
When I was assigned as the Assistant Convoy Commander, while deployed in Iraq, my duties
were comprised of giving the mission operations brief before convoys, after action reviews
(AAR), teaching battle drills, rollover drills, vehicle recovery, reaction to Improvised Explosive
Device (IED), reaction to small arms fire, and additional weapon maintenance. (11. BNOCC I
and Phase II, and ANOCC, and 5. Drill Sergeant School). In battle drills I taught the proper
actions to take in different situations for battle. Rollover drills class consisted of how to basically
protect yourself as the vehicle is rolling. This drill was practiced until it was second nature and
consisted of bracing techniques and how to extract yourself from the rolled vehicle. In vehicle
recovery, my soldiers learned how to do combat recovery of a vehicle in a hostile environment. (12.
Combat Action Badge and 14.Bronze Star Medal). Communicationrelated to the reaction of the IED
s include communicating with those in the vehicle, to check for injuries. If there were injuries we
formed a perimeter, secured the area, and called for medical evacuation. If there were no injuries,
we established if the vehicle was okay to drive, checked with the others in the convoy for injuries
and disabled vehicles. My job was ensuring the safety of our people, and those we were transporting
to their destination. Our mission was to keep them out of harm s way, not to engage, but to keep
moving. We only stopped

Who doesn t enjoy celebrating annual holidays? In America, there are a wide array of cultures,
backgrounds, and religious beliefs, holidays can be enjoyed by many. Halloween and Easter are
some of those popular holidays of the year that many people celebrate. Americans love to dress up
on both occasions and celebrate their religion with family and friends. During Halloween and Easter,
children also get the opportunity to eat lots of candy and participate in many fun filled holiday
activities. It may seem like Halloween and Easter have a lot in common, but they are actually very

(Villalba). While some religions honor Halloween, others honor Easter. Easter is a holiday
celebrated by Christian faith. Easter day represents the death of Jesus Christ and his resurrection. For
Christians, Easter marks the end of Lenten fasts, which is why Easter is usually celebrated with a
feast. Some Christians believe that by following the process of fasting, baptisms, and sacraments, is
their way to get into heaven.
Halloween and Easter also differ in terms of children festivities. Halloween offers many fun and
exciting activities for children. Every year children around the world love to go to the grocery
store, or local farm and pick out their favorite pumpkin. Children then go home and get to decorate
or carve their pumpkin however they like. They can create jack o lanterns or even funny faces out of
their pumpkins. Other than the usual trick or treating, many community buildings and schools create
Halloween fairs and events for children of all age groups. This includes hayrides, face painting, and
some spooky attractions. Some events even offer the opportunity for kids to create their own
costumes; which gives children an opportunity to express themselves. On the other hand, Easter s
activities are much different compared to Halloween. During Easter, children get the opportunity to
go on an Easter egg hunt. Easter egg hunts involve children scrambling around on a scavenger hunt
trying to find the hidden Easter

The Human Body Is The Liver
Introduction
The largest internal organ in the human body is the liver. The liver functions in many ways for the
survival of the human body. Such as producing blood proteins which help clotting, haemoglobin
(oxygen transport), storing glucose, eliminating harmful toxins in the bloodstream, breakdown of
saturated fats and producing cholesterol (Robinson, 2016). Mr McGrath has 5 years past history of
Alcoholic Cirrhosis in which there is irreversible scarring of the liver and ultimately preventing the
liver from functioning properly. Complications of Cirrhosis such as Ascites, variceal bleeding,
hepatic encephalopathy, jaundice, hypoxia, ecchymosis and high risk of infection are not
uncommon with patients like Mr McGrath (Chalasani, 2013), (Robinson, 2016) and (Moore Aithal,
2006).
A liver transplant may be considered if initial treatment is ineffective (medication and dietary
changes). Mr McGraths liver function test (LFT) displays abnormal results which may indicate the
evidence of his liver disease.
Ascites due to Cirrhosis
Ascites is the accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity which also indicate advanced liver
disease. The development of ascites in cirrhosis can be caused by portal hypertension which is the
increase of blood pressure in the veins running through the liver called portal veins (Chalasani, 2013).
Mr McGrath was admitted to the hospital for abdominal swelling, displaying true signs of Jaundice
(yellowing skin and eyes) fever (37.7°C) and
Pilate Benefits
This article discusses about Pilates for the older people to keep body proper and balance, which it
is necessary. Since it says that for Pilates for elder in so many forms of exercise may cause stress
or frustration on themselves. So, while staying in shape while reducing the risk of injury that weight
bearing exercises may cause, they are more focus on the controlled breathing and quality of
movements of the body instead of the boundaries (arms and legs), where the potential for injury is
greater. In difference with other forms of exercise, Pilates develops the midrange and gradually
works toward the endurance, while maintaining complete control around the joints. To the benefit
of older adults, Pilates teaches control and stability in a small range of motion, graduating to a
larger range of motion as they gain control and confidence. Pilates also help with a variety of age
related weaknesses. Arthritis sufferers benefit because the gentle mid range movements decrease the
chance of joints compressing while maintaining the range of motion around them. For sufferers of
osteoporosis or stenosis, Pilates can also help. For osteoporosis the simple and standing Pilates leg
exercises may increase bone density in both the spine and the hip.

Domestic Terrorism in the United States
Domestic terrorism is a real threat to this country. This type of attack is nothing new to this country
but until the threat of international terrorism became prominent, there was not a large focus on
domestic terrorism. With a look at history, domestic terrorists are a greater threat to security than
international terrorists. Some of these threats are easily preventable and others are more difficult to
see coming. The Department of Homeland Security needs to focus on domestic terrorist threats with
the same effort as they do for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times the first signs of an impending attack would be noticed by a civilian. This could be a
friend, family member, coworker or a store clerk. A bystander may also notice an unattended
package or suspicious person in an area. This may be just enough to ward off the attack if the police
are notified promptly. A major difficulty facing law enforcement in the prevention of these incidents
is working within the justice system of the United States. The police have to follow procedures and
rule laid out in the Bill of Rights and subsequent laws. These laws restrict the rights of law
enforcement and protect the rights of the citizens. The First Amendment gives the freedom of
religion and speech and of the press. A person can go to a mosque or church that may be radical in
their teachings. They may voice their radical opinions as long as it is not an outright threat. Even
printed materials about their views are legal. According to the Second Amendment, a person can
buy arms and ammunition legally. In order for police to obtain a search warrant, probable cause
must be present. (Les Benedict, 2006). Just because a person goes to a radical mosque, a search
for bomb making materials cannot be obtained without probable cause that the materials are there.
A person cannot be persecuted based on loose suspicions. Therefore, a tip has to be followed up by
an investigation to see if the person is doing something illegally. Only if reliable
Employer 401 Case Study
We often ask the question, How does our 401(k) plan stack up? When you are an employee, you will
consider items such as the investment choices, administration fees, or loan terms. However, if you
are an owner, the most important thing to think about may be how to contribute the highest amount
you can under Section 415. For 2016, the defined contribution plan annual addition limit without
catch up is $53,000, and will rise to $54,000 next year.
The Internal Revenue Code (IRC) subjects qualified employer plans to compliance testing. Employer
401(k) plans must pass the actual deferral percentage (ADP) test, and if there are employer match
contributions, the actual contribution percentage (ACP) test. However, safe harbor plans are not
subject to discrimination testing if the plan sponsor contributes a pre approved safe harbor employer
contribution.
Safe harbor plans guarantee that the Highly Compensated Employees (HCEs) will be able to
contribute the maximum deferral amount of $18,000, but not necessarily the maximum annual
addition under Code Section 415. In those cases, the triple stack match formula may be the solution,
as follows:
Stack One: 100% of the first 3% of deferrals, plus 50% on the next 2% of deferrals. That means that
if an employee defers 5%, they will receive the maximum 4% of compensation match on the first ...

In addition to the requirements discussed above, it is important to remember that none of the
stacked matches can require a 1,000 hour of work or employment at year end. Stack One also
cannot be subject to vesting, as it must be fully vested to qualify as safe harbor. Provisions for the
triple stack match must be in place before the start of the plan year in which they are
Double Strand Breaks (DSB)
Among the many types of DNA damage, one of the most severe is DNA double strand breaks
(DSB). DNA DSBs occur when two complementary strands break simultaneously generating two
strands which are not being held together by base pairing and chromatin structure. Few known
causes for DSB are ionizing radiation, chemical mutagens, reactive oxygen species and drugs which
are used for chemotherapy (Goodsell, 2005). This breakage can cause chromosomal rearrangement
such as translocation and inversion, consequentially resulting in detrimental phenotypic affects.
How are these breaks repaired? DSBs can be repaired through distinct mechanistically set
pathways, as shown in figure 1, such as Homologous recombination repairs (HRR), Non end
joining homologous repair (NHEJ) and more recently discovered Microhomology mediated end
joining (MMEJ). HRR uses a homologous template to accurately repair the broken strand, whereas
NHEJ relies on Ku proteins (Fnu et al., 2011) and DNAligase to repair DNA double strands, often
times causing small insertions or deletions at the joining site. MMEJ, a more recent finding, uses a 5
25 bp micorohomologous sequence to align the broken ends simultaneously always causing deletions
in the previously broken strand (McVey and Lee, 2008).
Genomic instability is a trademark of increased risk of cancers with age. This instability arises
from several problems, with one of the main ones being double strand breakage (DSB). HRR, one of
the DSB repair, is a tightly
Programming Languages Research Paper
Programming languages are our way to speak to computers. From Lisp to Go to Java, programmers
have had more flexibility and productivity with high level programming languages. Programming
languages have changed and evolved throughout the history of computer science. Programmers have
learned to adapt to programming languages, such as assembly language, however more programming
languages are being created that give users more control. The future of programming languages will
continue to contribute to the growth of computerscience and understanding of computation.
The history of programming languages includes several influential figures in computer science. The

Instead, there should be a set of instructions to control the simplified hardware that would improve
the speed of the system. The second concept is conditional control transfer which means that
small blocks of code can be reused and jumped to in different orders. It gave rise to the if/then
statements and for loops we use in everyday programming today. In addition, libraries were formed
which are blocks of code that can be reused over and over again. Both of these concepts gave rise to
the modern day Von Neumann programming languages, which include C, C++ and Java.
At this time, still in 1945, German engineer Konrad Zuse designed the first high level non Von
Neumann programming language Plankakul (Calculus of Programs). This was unique in history as
it was developed at the same time John Von Neumann came out with his two concepts, but it used
his own constructs and logic. The Plankakul language was not a huge success at the time, but it
showed us many of the same modern day features of a programming language. For example, the
features of the language was that it is a high level programming language, has reusable functions,
uses no recursion, is a typed language, and there is a WHILE construct for iteration. The language
was developed independently of Von Neumann s ideas, but it still came up with similar concepts and
influenced modern programming languages.

The Beauty And Richness Of Autumn By John Keats
At one time or another, every person has experienced the beauty of summer. In this time of the
year, nature is full of life, the weather is at its finest, and the paramount joys of life can be
experienced to their fullest. Then the fall comes, the trees turn lovely shades of red and yellow, and
the wind offers a nice chill breeze for relief. Unfortunately, seasons change and the beauty that people
once experienced vanishes. People focusing only on the material and petty aspects of life, rather than
the beauty around them, will let life pass them, missing out on the true wonders of the world. In his
poem To Autumn, John Keatsutilizes imagery to express the importance of indulging in the beauties
of nature, while alive, because humans are mortal beings bound by the limits of time.
Throughout the beginning of the poem, Keats touches on the beauty and richness of autumn. He
accomplishes this by introducing distinct fall imagery. For example, Keats writes in lines 5 and 6,
To bend with apples the moss d cottage trees; And fill all fruit with the ripeness of to the cores (414).
Having the trees branches being bent by the weight of the apples and the fruit being ripe to its core,
the narrator points to the plumpness and maturity of the fruit. Typically, fruit reaches this fullness in
autumn when it is ready to harvest. Keats uses this delectable and pleasant image of the fruit to not
only demonstrate the mouthwatering joys nature has to offer during this season, but to also
Descriptive Essay About My First Plane
As I scanned my boarding pass and walked down the tunnel hallway that led to the airplane, my
heart began to beat a little faster in my chest and my hands got clammy. I had never been outside
of the country before! After boarding the airplane, I sat down in my seat next to my dad, so
ecstatic to finally be on my way to Peru for my first mission trip! With the seat belt fastened snugly
across my hips and the cool air from the vents comfortably blowing on my face, I peered out the
window as the planetook off, my excitement growing as we rose up past the clouds into the clear
blue sky. Although it felt like any other normal flight, somehow I knew this one would be different.
Shortly after we took off and reached a higher elevation, I put my tray table down in preparation for
the meal and drinks that were being served by the flight attendants. Rolling their food and drink carts
in front of them, the flight attendants slowly made their way down the aisle. Finally, they reached
my row and I received my first international flight meal mozzarella cheese, basil, and tomato
sandwich, a square of cheesecake, and a small chocolate. As I was unwrapping my sandwich and
getting ready to enjoy my meal, totally captivated by the newness and the excitement of it all, the
plane suddenly experienced some unexpected turbulence. Nothing crazy at first, only a couple bumps
that caused me to hold on to the arm rests and grow a little nervous. But then it happened!
We dropped.
