Concrete Angel Poem
Child abuse is still a very prevalent issue in American society; however, it is not focused on in
popular media. Many witness the signs of child abuse, but seem to disregard it as an issue. The
overall physical, mental, and emotional well being of the victims is significantly impacted. Martina
McBride s Concrete Angel portrays the issue of child abusewith the characterization of a young girl
who displays both the more obvious physical signs of abuse in addition to the less observable
impacts on the child s mentality. Through the descriptions of the young girl and the paradox of a
concrete angel, the song attempts to evoke sympathy for victims of child abuse and ultimately to
condemn the bystanders who allow the abuse to continue.
The physical and mental signs of abuse described in the lyrics help to characterize the girl in a
sympathetic manner. It is clear the girl clearly depicts typical physical signs of child abuse since

The young girl s death was preventable, but people pushed the responsibility on to take the
initiative to another, which was exemplified by The teacher wonders but doesn t ask and The
neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights (Bentley and Crosby, 2002, l 5). These adults in the
song evoke feelings of anger because of their chosen inaction. They are painted as cold and
unfeeling, in other words, they have concrete hearts, which results in the death of the girl. The adult
bystanders are condemned for not stepping in and ignoring the girl. the bystanders. The anger the
reader feels toward the adults in the child s life evoke feelings of anger which help to sympathize

Golf Over Time By Robin Williams Golf
Golf over time According to Robin Williams golf was created by Scottish people who wanted a
deathly hard game. However at some point people realized that the game was more than a funny
way of putting a ball in a hole. Over time, as the sport became more popular, people have found
different ways of enhancing the game. As technology improved people found ways to utilize higher
technology materials and also introduced many new systems to the game of golf. Yet some people
say that golf has not changed due to technology, they say that it is still a matter of getting the ball
into the hole. Technology has changed the game of golf. The materials for golf balls have
changed over time. The golf ball has been through many changes over time and can now be fit to
the player s ability. Golf balls used to be built with wood, then leather and feather; but now they
are being produced with cast thermoset urethane that is 0.03 inches thick and they all have
dimple patterns. (Callaway Golf Builds on Ball Technology Success With Introduction of CTU
30 Blue and Red Three Piece Golf Balls 1),(Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x 2 8). Having a golf ball
that is multi layered and made of high technology materials rather than a ball made of wood means
people get more distance out out of the drives, but they can still generate lots of spin and control on
the greens. Further drives and more control on the greens means the percentage of being able to
shoot lower are much greater. In addition to new
Orlando s Theory Of The Deliberative Nursing Process
Critique Analysis This section presents an analysis of Orlando s theory. The central thesis of the
Theory of the Deliberative Nursing Process is finding out and meeting the patient s immediate
need for help. The concepts and propositions of the theory are written at a concrete level of
discussion (Fawcett, Desanto Madeya, 2013). The theory is classified as a middle range
predicative theory. The theory identifies the effects of a specific interpersonal nursing process on
identification of the patient s immediate need for help. origins. Ida Jean Orlando was born in
1929. She obtained her diploma in nursing from New York Medical College, her Bachelor of
Science in public health nursing from St. John s University and Masters in mental health nursing at
Columbia University (Current Nursing, 2013). She was an Associate Professor at Yale School of
Nursing and Director of the Graduate Program in Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing (Current
Nursing, 2013). Orlando published her book The Dynamic Nurse Patient Relationship in 1961.
Orlando does not credit any theoretical sources in the development of her theory (Necor, 2014, p.
5). She formulated the deliberative nursing process from the considerable amount of data she
recorded on nurse patient observations. She evaluated facts from those observations to develop her
theory. Orlando proclaimed that her theory is valid and applied it in her work with patients and
nurses and the teaching of students (Necor, 2014, p. 5). unique focus.
A Long Night For The Twins
It had been a long night for the twins. It was one of those nights where just as they thought they
had fought their last fight, a new one would emerge. Or at least to them it seemed like it. Their
master had always told them to be prepared such battles, for as they grew stronger so would their
enemies. It seemed like he was right.
They had been home for a mere ten minutes before Mark proclaimed that he was hungry. His sister
Mindy warming down from the night they had just had rolling her eyes as she knew what that
would come to mean. Mark being the eldest of the two had always had a way of prioritising himself.
Something Mindy and gotten acquainted to over their short lives. It was simply who he was and she
doubted that he would change. He was her opposite and they complemented each other. That
complementation making them a strong partnership in their Kung Fu.
Mindy? Mark s voice called out from his resting spot. That spot being the couch in the center of their
living room and his body draped across it, eyes firmly closed. His own way of calming and cooling
down after a fight.
You know Master will not approve of the way you treat the furniture Came a reply from his left in
the form of a whisper. Mindy was not the one to be loud and outgoing. For being the youngest she
always helped keep her brother in line when she had to or when Master Grandpa had told her too.
The rest of the time she enjoyed being unnoticed, a shadow in the dark. That was her being.

An Analysis Of The Mumps-Measles-Rubella Vaccines
In 1998, a British doctor named Andrew Wakefield published an article stating that the MMR
(Mumps Measles Rubella) vaccine was linked to autism in young children. Later several different
studies were performed to test Mr.Wakefeild s research and

Vaccines have been credited the annihilation of one major disease smallpox, and though this was a
life saving accomplishment there are still many dangerous diseases out there. Diseases such as
whooping cough and measles are still being fought today kept alive by those who are not protected
via vaccination against them. Even with vaccines Whooping cough still causes approximately
8,000 (Vaccines and Immunizations) deaths annually in the United States and measles one of the
most contagious diseases ever known and is an important cause of death and disability among
young children worldwide (Measles and Rubella). These disease are still very much alive and can
be deadly to those who do not take precautions against them. Though the people involved in this
anti vaccine movement try to play down the danger of the disease that people are vaccinated for it
is very dangerous to sit back and ignore the threat in front of you that can very easily affect those
your love or you directly.
Though a fear of vaccination can be sometimes understood it is not justified, sometimes we have to
take risk for the sake of everyone. Vaccination does have some risk but it is still a necessity to
protect not only our families but families everywhere, it has saved countless lives and will save
countless more we cannot let misguided
The Book Thief Essay
This year there is a big decision to be made in which teachers or students should choose the books
for the upcoming year. Although this decision has many opinions on both sides of the argument I
only support one. This decision in which the teachers will select the books would be inimitable for
several reasons. One reason is that if the teacher selected the books then this would better help the
class in lessons and challenge us. In addition, this would also increase test scores and reading
ability for all the students in the class. Teachers would also help students to discover advanced
genres of books and learn new and innovative vocabulary words. Granted that it would be interesting
for the students to choose a bookthey think is more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, if teachers decide on the book selection, then they will also introduce to us new books
and genres that will help us to discover new things. To elaborate, I had never heard of a book
called, Frightful s Mountain that we read in 6th grade. I would never have read this book had it
not been for my teacher. To clarify, I love to read many different types of books, but I don t really
open myself up to many genres of books.I am like the Liesel of The Book Thief who owns and
reads many books. This book that my teacher chose I did not think I would enjoy. In the end, I
enjoyed this book very much and did not want it to end. In other words, teachers have a broad,
better knowledge of genres. Teachers have read many books and know their class well enough to
show them new books that will help them to be astute students. Furthermore, teachers can prove to
students that there are many more books out there that they might be interested in, but won t read.
With their guidance students can read a variety of books that helped many students to discover a

Ford Motor Company Is A Prosperous Business Essay
Introduction
Ford Motor Company has been in business since the 19th century and it has enjoyed a rather
successful run as one of the top automobile industries in the United States. Ford Motor Company is a
prosperous business because of strategic changes that it was willing to develop and implement.
Successful corporations have to adapt to the constantly changing environment or the company will
be doomed to failure. In other words, customer shopping habits change as new products are
introduced to the market or when other factors beyond Ford Motor Company s control affect which
vehicles are sold. For example, there is an increased demand for fuel efficient cars when the price per
gallon of gasoline increases. In its long history, Ford Motor Company has demonstrated the
willingness to cut its losses and try innovative techniques in order to maximize profit and maintain
customer satisfaction and sustainability. Although the company no longer resembles the same
corporation that Henry Ford built, it remains an example of how successful businesses should adapt
to their changing environment by being receptive to different strategies.
Henry Ford began the Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan by using a variation of the
assembly line that was perfected in meat packing plants to complete the first car. The first Model T
car took roughly thirteen hours to complete, and with further experimentation Ford had the assembly
time for a Model T car down to approximately ninety three minutes
Analysis Of Diet Pepsi Print Advertisement
The Diet Pepsi print advertisement Forever Young is quite creative and thought provoking. The
print advertisement shows the front of a businessman s body, from his nose down to his
midsection. This most likely belongs in a magazine, in a place such as a doctor s office or
barbershop, or whatever any day place that the average person would visit. He holds a Diet Pepsi
cup in the center of the advertisement, with the intention of immediately bringing the cup
attention to the reader. He blows bubbles through a straw into the beverage, overflowing the cup
and making quite a mess. It is a serious, black and gray formal background. This is meant to be
ironic, because a businessman does not typically partake in childish behaviors like in the picture,
in such a serious, adult like atmosphere. The main message this is trying to convey is non
conformity, through its ironic picture of a relatable businessman, and its Forever Young caption
on the bottom right. Forever Young could also suggest that drinking Diet Pepsi can make one feel
young and like a kid again and how humans have a basic necessity for having fun, which can be
explained by blowing the bubbles in the drink. The non conformity message is exemplified by the
contrast of the sharp, well dressed businessman, with the bubble blowing in the cup. The average
day of a businessman, or simply an office worker is general, is quite lackluster and repetitive.

Descriptive Essay On Skiing
Skiing the Slopes The last minute, go to vacation place Colorado. A destination my family has
relied on for many family vacations. The earliest memory that I have of Colorado takes place at
the age of maybe three or four years old, and we went there two years in a row on a skiing trip at the
Monarch Mountain Ski Resort with my mom s side of the family. There was a bunch of people
crammed into two cabins in the mountains. One cabin held me, my parents, my sister Matlyn,
grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. While the cabin across the river held my grandpa s
brother, his wife, kids, and grandkids.
Being not old enough to ski by myself, I was required to take a skiing class. For half the day we
skied, and then were in a daycare for the rest. It was AWFUL! The daycare part, not the skiing. A
girl there who was quite fond of stealing my toys and snacks still haunts my memories of that
place. She should know not to take a girls snack. The best part of that vacation was when we went
back the next year, and grabbed a brochure/map and there was a picture of me on it from the year
before. In the picture I was all bundled up in my coat and the scarf that my mom made for me, and
wearing oversized ski goggles that covered my whole face, and beside me was my ski instructor. I
WAS FAMOUS!

The next time that we were in Colorado, we went to Estes Park and rented a small house to stay in
for a week. The owners lived right next door and had a daughter who was about my age and had

The Flipped Classroom Model Of Instruction
The use of the flipped classroom model of instruction is gaining attention among instructors and
professors at the college and university level (Aronson, Arfstrom, Tam, 2013). Currently, the amount
of rigorous, empirical research on the effectiveness of the Flipped Learning model is limited, but
growing. As a relatively new model of instruction, it has been found to have a positive impact on
important student outcomes, including achievement and engagement (Ferreri O Connor, 2013).
Flipped classroom is another model of learner centered teaching. A flipped classroom is a
pedagogical approach in which direct instruction moves from the group learning space to the
individual learning space, and the resulting group space is transformed... Show more content on

normal lecture process consisted of two, 50 minute lecture periods and one, 110 minute practicum,
weekly. Instead of using this approach, the instructor applied the flipped classroom approach. The
instructor posted video records of lecture materials to iTunesU and students viewed the lectures and
supplemental content prior to the class. This allowed the students to be exposed to theory based
content outside of class time. Because of this approach, there was more time for in class problem
solving and increased teacher student interaction. At end of the course, assessment data was
collected to examine students use of the video lectures and perceptions of the flipped classroom. A
total of 77 students completed the Course Survey 1, and provided consent for their data to be used
for research purposes. The majority of the students (74%) felt that the flipped classes were helpful to
their understanding of the concepts. An additional 24 percent felt that the flipped classes were
somewhat helpful. A total of 75.3 percent of the students agreed, or strongly agreed, that the
additional time spent problem solving in class improved their understanding of the estimating
methods. Students perceived the method of teaching as more effective than lecturing,
Differences Between Nature Vs Nurture Essay
Throughout this paper, we will be comparing similarities and differences between our seven
members based on the Big Five Inventory test results to our Zodiac sign attributes. Each member
of Psychology 101 Group 14 was required to take the OCEAN Big Personality Quiz, and then
compare the results to the other members of the team. Then after looking at the results individual
members compared their scores to their Zodiac signs to see if they could identify similarities. To
begin, while looking at our comparatives scores of the OCEAN Big 5 Personality quizzes, we
found that a few group members were similar, although there was many differences in the group
too. For example, Gabe and Damon were similar in Openness, with a score of 41 and 35
respectively. On the other hand, Socoro and Vivianna were outliers in the group, with Vivianna
having a score of 5, and Socoro with a score of 59. We believe while the scores are closely related,
our reasons for being close together in Openness value more shows the debate between nature vs
nurture. Gabe s belief on being in the 35th percentile is how he was raised throughout his family
environment similar to Kaitlyn in the 41st percentile, while Damon s belief for being in the 41st
percentile was more so being born into the statistic rather than recalling any events that contributed
to his score. Rachael scored in the 16th percentile, which indicates a preference of a more regular
schedule. She believes that this is because of how she
House Of Mirth Literary Analysis
The House of Mirth is a novel that revolves around Lily Bart s attempts to find a husband as a way
to have a successful life. Through discussing Lily s attempts to find a spouse, Wharton gives a
glimpse to upper class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For the first passage, Selden
ponders on Lily Bart. For the second passage, Lily confesses to Gerty her true intentions of marriage
when Lily experienced distress about her current state and her past choices.
Through a close reading of the two passages, the diction, grammatical elements, and poetic
devices utilized in these excerpts help unearth the passages hidden messages. For the first
passage, through diction, the passage sheds new light. The words no less conscious convey that
Selden is not influenced by what people tell him about Lily, since he understands Lily at a deeper
level through Selden s and Lily s talks at his flat and Bellomont than Lily s other friends
understand her. The words the woman he knew implies the version of Lily that Selden has seen a
glimpse of when Lily acts like her true self and expresses her actual thoughts. The vulgar estimate
of her shows the version of Lily that most of her friends perceive. However, they fail to perceive
Lily s true self, since Lily attempts a facade in public. The words Selden was in impassioned self
absorption indicate Selden felt deeply attracted to Lily that most of his attention was focused on
Lily. Selden s love for Lily allowed him to not judge
