Archie Equation Petrophysics
INTRODUCTION

Archie Unleashed is an attempt to put the basic log analysis methodology for computing water
saturation into a readable reference document. The beginning log analyst or petrophysicist should
have little difficulty with the terms and concepts utilized in this paper, however, most terms are
redefined in appendix A.

The basic outline of this document closely follows a previous work written for the casual interpeter
in log analysis. Archie Unleashed is meant to carry that work one step further. Basic concepts are
explained along with more detailed examples and explanations.

The personal computer has revolutionized the way we work and play. The kind and amount of data
we work with in petrophysics can be easily handled in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mark intervals selected for quantitative analysis on this log. Depth. correlate the other surveys to
this reference log or the Gamma ray curve from this log.
4.Select intervals with at least four feet of constant response whenever possible. Use a single
representative value from the center of the zone for each porosity and resistivity measurement. This
procedure minimizes thin bed and bed boundary effects on the logs.
5.Consider how to keep the interpretation simple. Analyse the most clear cut cases first. Look for:
The obvious mineral markers (salt, anhydrite). The cleanest, most porous, intervals. The cleanest,
water bearing, intervals. The cleanest, hydrocarbon bearing, intervals. The fluid contacts: gas/oil, oil
/water. The transition zones.

6.Tackle one unknown at a time. For example, when deriving an Rw value from logs, choose a
water bearing zone as nearly identical as possible to the hydrocarbon zone of interest. This means
the two zones have the same lithology, have the same or very similar porosity values, have the same
type of pore structure (do not compare a zone with moldic porosity to one with granular or fracture
porosity for instance), have the same formation water chemistry, etc. Ideally, the two zones are
identical except for hydrocarbon content.

Bear in mind what G. E. Archie said about his equations. It should be remembered that the equations
given are not precise and represent only approximate relationships.
Correlation Between Alcohol And Alcohol
Results The amount of hours a person works a week is negatively correlated to an individual s
dependency to alcohol. The less hours a person works per week the more they will be dependent
on alcohol. On average, the individuals in the sample worked a low amount of hours a week (M
= 11.31, SD = 14.9) and had a moderately low dependency on alcohol (M = 31.11, SD = 14.26). In
addition, the confidence intervals looking at the amount of hours worked per week indicated that
the participants continued to work low hours (95% CI = [8.96, 13.83]). Along with, both the upper
and lower bounds of the alcohol decency score showing reaming consistent with a modestly low
dependency on alcohol (95% CI = [29.02, 33.58]).
When a Spearman s correlation analysis was used a negative correlation was found indicating
that a the less amount of hours a person worked a week the higher their dependency on alcohol is.
This correlation supported the hypotheses. A Spearman s correlation was used because thee out of
the four test for a normally distributed population were violated and the sample size was over 100.
However, the correlation was not significant rs = .114, n = 152, p = .08 (one tailed).
The amount of hours worked in a week had an extremely small effect on a person s dependency to
alcohol r2 = .01. This incredibly small effect size is consistent with the results of the significance
test. With the correlation having no significance then it is accurate to say that a person s work hours
had
President James A. Garfield
President James A. Garfield was and still is one of the most respected presidents to serve in the
White House. Millard s book is split into parts, each part a significant chunk from Garfield s life.
Millard wrote of Garfield becoming president in the first two parts, then focuses more on his
death in parts three and four of her book, and I found what she wrote to be fascinating. The book
switched between telling the main events mainly from three people perspectives, which were
Alexander G. Bell, Garfield, and Charles Guiteau. I liked that Millard incorporated the
perspectives from the men and women that were instrumental in the downfall of Garfield. Her
book is inspiring and very well written. Garfield had served in Congress for seventeen years, but
had absolutely no interest in being president. When at the Republican National Convention, he
was to give a speech to nominate a candidate for the Republican nominee in the presidential race.
However, the people voted for him and to his dismay, Garfield became the nominee. As Garfield
had no desire to be president, he did not campaign. He did give speeches to the people who
showed up to his home, but that was it. Garfield won the election and was sworn in March 4, 1881.
Charles Guiteau, the man who assassinated Garfield was, in short, a lunatic. A few days before
Garfield s inauguration, he survived the ship wreck of the Stonington. He believed that God had
saved him from death because he was to have a very important
Defining Transnational Cinema
This analysis will scrutinize three articles that parallel in the intrest of defining transnational
cinema. First, the analysis will attempt to define transnational cinema. The second article will
describe how artists use film to convey a deeper message. Finally, the last article will examine
borders and border crossings in the movie Veer Zarra. Is there a difference between national
cinemas vs. transnational cinemas? In the article from Higbee, W. and Lim, S. H., defines
transnational cinema. In one perspective national cinema is descriptions from a perspective point of
view , instead of an actual description (Higbee, 2010). Examining transnational cinema from a local
perspective, rather than globalized. The article explains how borders are blurred by
telecommunications technologies , and debates between nations are transferred into films (Higbee,
2010). The article states, there are three essential elements applied in filmstudies in order to define
transnational cinema. The article deliberates the limitation of a national cinema, in correlation with
transnational cinema, which construes relationships between cinema, and cultural economic factors.
Also, transnational is interpreted as creating the film from a regional phenomenon. Finally,
transnational cinema represents culture and identity, to challenge the western construct of a nation
and national culture and by extension, national cinema as stable.... (Higbee, 2010). In transnational
cinema, there is a
Descriptive Essay On Cafe
The Lokal

In my ceaseless visits to new cafes that seem to be sprouting every other day in this tiny island, it is
only natural that I won t like some. But it is also natural to have a favourite one that shines.

That s The Lokal.

This newly opened Aussie inspired café along Neil Road is not your normal stop by dining spot. I
was welcomed by the casual retro interior and comforting natural light shining in from the French
windows, one step into it and I had my heart on sleeve already. The open concept kitchen where one
could see the chefs in action gave off the feeling of authenticity, a good break away from the
countless typical and pretentious cafes that have sprouted in recent years. My first impression of the
place heralded high expectations and true enough, The Lokal was more than extraordinary.

Roast Beef Ciabatta $9

I ordered the Roast Beef Ciabatta and it arrived within 10 minutes, the warmth of the bread instantly
spreading through my fingers at first touch, which was impressive. The dish was a concoction of
superb but simple flavours, with a generous amount of tender and succulent slices of sautéed beef
that was fortunately not gamey, stuffed among perky, fresh watercress and slightly sweet
caramelized onions. Those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alright, banana bread may sound so ordinary, it being one of the easiest things to bake. But I m
certain about one thing, all those probably can t compare to this one I ve had. Absolutely can t. The
homemade mildly sour yogurt sauce was what set this apart from the others out there mild acidity
contrasted the sweetness of the banana bread from its bath in toffee syrup and those perfectly
caramelized ripe but firm bananas toppings. The contrast added an interesting twist for my
sweetened buds. Little details matter and the additional toasted macadamias gave this a natural
goodness, and the texture of the bread was perfectly dense, just the way I like
The Contamination Of The Gold Mining Company
Within the last couple of month there has been a mere excessive amount of water being polluted
and having toxic waste carelessly dumped. The Animas River of Colorado and flowing through
Utah, New Mexico, and high Northern Part of Arizona. But it s not just the that, there are plenty of
lakes and rivers that are being contaminated with toxic wasteall the time. And people seem to be
very closed and okay with the fact their water sources are dirty.
Well as a Native American, some of these parts the river flows are pretty much sacred lands, and
as well as the water very vital. But due to the government and the EPA granting permission for the
gold mining company to dump their whatever waste into the river, now jeopardizing millions of
people and creatures that rely on the water source for survival. But after knowing they gave
permission to do this, the EPA had the nerves to go right around, apologize, but telling residents
that live alongside the flowing river to say the contamination was an accident . So as for this
accidental spill, now people and domesticated animals can t use this source for anything. As for
cleaning up, it may take a couple years until anything good can actually come out of it. The
thousands of gallon waste that were dumped into the water leaves a very thick orange yellow color
covering the whole. And since the part of the river flows through Northern Arizona, where a very
pristine and sacred land for the Navajo Nation, it s disturbing and a disgrace
John F Kennedy Biography Essay
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. Both sides of
his family, the Fitzgerald s and the Kennedy s, were wealthy and prominent Irish Catholic families.
Kennedy s paternal grandfather, John E. Fitzgerald, nicknamed, Honey Fitz, was a skilled
politician who served as a Congressman and as the mayor of Boston. Kennedy s mother, Rose
Elizabeth Fitzgerald, was a Boston debutante. His father, Joseph Kennedy Sr., was a successful
banker who made a fortune on the stock market after World War I. Joseph Kennedy Sr., went to a
government career as an ambassador to Great Britain.

Kennedy was very focused on improving the work force, making wages higher and safe working
conditions. In 1952 Kennedy ran for Senate. In 1956 Democratic National Convention Kennedy
was nominated as vice president for presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson, but he lost to Senator
Este Kefauver of Tennessee. In 1960 Kennedy formally announced he was running for president.
Kennedy was elected as Democratic nominee. He picked Lyndon B. Johnson as his running mate.
In November s election, Kennedy won by a narrow margin, becoming the youngest man and the
first Roman Catholic to be elected president of the United States. President Kennedy wanted to find
an end to racial discrimination of white and black people, but he could never seem to break the
barrier. Kennedy wanted to protect the civil rights and make everything equal for the citizens of the
United States. Kennedy stopped the invasion of Cuba when he discovered their plan. Kennedy also
improved American Soviet relations. Kennedy did a great job bringing peace, foreign policy and
resolving war issues. Kennedy also focused on economic growth which made everything stable.
Kennedy created the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 it extended civil rights to immigrants

Modern Norse Interaction
The early Norse people of modern Scandinavia were an amazing group of people that traded,
raided, and farmed, we known as Vikings. Norse people were well known travelers of most of the
known world during the Viking age, approximately 800 1150 CE. Their customs and technology
made impacts on civilizations a great distance from their homeland. It seemed that once contact
outside their native land had taken place, an explosion of interaction occurred. They reached out and
interacted with people from the east, south, and west. Some of these interactions were ferocious in
nature filled with slaughter and raiding. Other interactions were peaceful that led to settlements and
open trading. From humble beginnings of farmers to feared sea travelers... Show more content on

The Frankish emperor Louis the Pious and his sons were at war. The Norse people continued to
attack some and became allies for others. Louis s son Lothar welcomed the Norse people and used
them in future battles as mercenaries. After Louis s death in 843 CE the Treaty of Verdun ended
the civil war and the kingdom was separated into 3. Charles the Bald became king of the West
Franks. During his time, near the Loire River, the Vikings founded a settlement. This was a major
disadvantage to the Franks and their trade routes. Norse men then began to travel up rivers to
find more monasteries and villages to attack within the Frankish kingdoms. Charles made several
attempts to fortify the towns to protect them, but not enough to overthrow his rule. None of these
strategies were very efficient. Charles made an extreme mistake in 845 CE in an attempt to deal
with these Vikings in a new and less painful way. He tried to buy peace from the invaders. Paying
in large amounts of gold and silver to the Viking s he simply asked not to attack him. This had the
opposite effect he intended and led to waves of Vikings attacking him, all of which sought to just
be paid off . After the death of Charles the Bald , his grandson Charles the Simple developed a
much better plan to deal with this threat (I love their nicknames). He gave the mouth the Loire River
to a Viking leader under the
Harding s Standpoint Epistemology And Haraway Analysis
Views from Somewhere: Subjectivities and Knowledge Production in
Harding s Standpoint Epistemology and Haraway s Situated Knowledges In
Modest_Witness@Second_Millenium, Donna Haraway profiles the modest witness of science, a
self invisible inhabitant of an unmarked category who is authorized to establish universal facts about
the world without his own embodiment clouding or biasing the world s objective (i.e., seen as the
same from all perspectives) truth. His subjectivity is his objectivity (24). Historically, his objectivity
has been contrasted with the subjectivity and special interests of women and people of color, among
other marginalized groups. Thus, they have always been excluded from science and used as
determinants of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haraway also calls, perhaps more explicitly, for the eradication of the subject/object binary. This
prevents attempts at the modest witness s transcendence (583). She draws attention to many
feminists critique of modern science s view of the object of knowledge as passive and inert (591).
Situated knowledges require the object to have agency, to engage with the subject on the level of
conversation. The subject does not discover the object and then create a real account of it (592 3).
Similar to Harding and standpoint theory, Haraway argues that situated knowledges are about
communities, not individuals: a larger vision necessitates a particular location
Narrative Essay On Odette Millenium
The accused needs to stand. The tribunal judge s voice echoed throughout the cavernous courtroom.
Although he sat high upon his chair behind his raised bench, the lighting around him was dim,
providing a sense of anonymity. To his right, a collection of citizens, too, sat shrouded in anonymity.
Several feet across from the judge, Odette Bordeaux pushed her chair out from behind the small
desk from where she had been placed. The wooden legs of the chair scratched abrasively against the
warped wooden floor causing an earsplitting screech that bounced around the room, magnifying the
sound until it reached a crescendo and then slowly dissipated. She was highlighted in a strong light
that shined down from the ceiling, exposing her to the juryand judge. Aged in her mid 40s, with
chestnut hair pinned neatly into a bun on the back of her head, Odette stood with the composure of
a lone leaf in a stout fall wind. Her hands, thin but calloused, trembled involuntarily, so she balled
them up and placed them behind her back. She wiggled her toes, hidden inside of her flats, to work
off the abundance of nerves ricocheting around inside of her. It wasn t... Show more content on

The judge s voice was stoic. He didn t raise or lower his pitch, but simply stated the offenses as

How do you respond to these transgressions?
Odette stood silent before the judge and the collection of citizens, not sure how to respond. She knew
that admitting her guilt would make her vulnerable to severe repercussion; however, atoning for
actions that were necessary seemed like an illogical thing to do, but it was the truth.
How do you respond to these transgressions, defendant?
Odette rubbed her sweaty palms on her gray cotton dress, cleared her throat and stammered,
Roots Of Revolution In Herman Melville s Billy Budd
Roots of Revolution

In Part V of Victor Hugo s Les Misérables, Jean Valjean, through the following quote, To owe life to
a criminal...to betray society in order to remain true...these absurdities should come about and be
heaped on top of him...it was this that defeated him, explains how Javert s subjugation to his internal
conflict imploded and eventually influenced his suicide (Hugo 1181). History has shown that a
person s or group s decision to take action with their given situation will inevitably have an effect on
their state of conflict. Events such as the American and French Revolutions evidence this statement.
Similarly, a person s state of conflict will also inevitably form them into whatever the situation
yields. A well known American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Oxford American Dictionary, mutiny means an open rebellion against the proper
authorities . In chapters 3 5 of Billy Budd, Sailor Melville gives the reader an overview of two
mutinies that occurred in Europe in 1797. One known as the Spithead occurred in April of that
year. The other, known as The Great Mutiny, occurred at the Nore, a sand bank in the
Mediterranean Sea, in July of the same year (17). Melville s description of these events provides
historical context within the story that convince the reader that they occurred. Melville
incorporates Billy Budd into the issue of mutiny when Billy finds himself approached by another
sailor. This sailor begins to relate to Billy by stating his own impressment and suggests a potential
riot when he says Couldn t you help at a pinch? (Melville 58) The fellow seaman continues his
endeavor to involve Billy by throwing in bribery; however, Billy quickly impedes this notion by
threatening to throw the seaman overboard. Melville makes evidence for this when Billy says If
you d don t start, I ll t t toss you back over the rail ( 58). As one can see, the issue of mutiny never
actually surfaced in spite of the fact that Billy Budd eventually became the alleged insurgent of the
idea of mutiny. In spite of the fact that Billy initially conceived no notion of
The History Boys by Alan Bennett
Can someone be born evil or is the ability to be immoral something that s acquired through the
environment? Various techniques were used by Alan Bennett in the History Boys to convey how
Hector wasn t purely immoral because he let his sexual desires lead to the fondling of his student s
genitals, but because he was a dedicated educator who would stop at no means including
disconnection with the traditional form of teaching in order to per quire his students futures through
alternative education. The most salient feature is the use of diverse characters in order to evoke
how they all have dreams of a more secure future through selective college acceptance even though
they come from different religions, sexual orientations, and even wealth levels. The students might
have been different, but that one goal of securing a brighter future lead to them being physically
groped by their teacher, Hector. The physical groping of an underage minor by an adult educator
seems immoral and is unjustifiable especially considering that many of the boys put up with the
groping in order for Hector to continue teaching them so they might stand a possibility of passing
the entrance exams. The groping is an inexcusable act Hector exhibits, but the groping is only a
little part of his character as he doesn t teach the boys in the standard mode of learning through
lectures and note taking God doesn t do notes, either. Did Jesus Christ say, Can I be excused from
the Crucifixion? No! , and
Madagascar Lemurs And Spies Sparknotes
This documentary, Madagascar, Lemurs and Spies, was touching both in terms of realization of
what is at stakes here and the overall separation there is between our society and what happens in
the most biodiverse places on the planet Earth. The overall combination of beautiful landscapes
from Madagascar, the sensibility and love for these animals shown by the scholar living there and
the constant danger and drama present in this situation of conservatism on this Island produce a
perfect accord for a great documentary. The beauty of the Silky Sifaka or pure white lemurs is
astonishing and it is a shame that we need to protect so intensively creatures of this value. They are
critically endangered and are only found on the island of Madagascar.... Show more content on

Most of the trees cut down will be used especially for furniture like tables, chairs, or desks, but also
for expensive guitars like Gibsons. The amount of wood timbered illegally is both impressive and
terribly sad. The saddest part is that without even realizing it we are complicit in this situation since
most guitars and furniture are sold in the United States, Europe or even China as mentioned in the
documentary. These objects sell for a lot of money to wealthy people and this contributes to the
development and growth of illegal deforestation. I find unbelievable the amount of wood taken down
and at the same time there is no action made by the government to stop the trade. It seems that
foreign countries do more the conservation of the forest and the specie than the country of
Madagascar or at least this is how it is depicted in the documentary. Overall, this short movie
provides a good point of view on the situation, however, I believe that there is not a strong enough
emphasis on the other threats possible like global warming, hunting or any other possible
conservation issues. It is mainly focused on the wood trade and the danger concerning lemurs in
this place, but usually species are not endangered just because of one cause. Global warming is a
growing concern all around the world and Madagascar, being an island, could be touched even more
by the sea level
