Corruption Due To Power In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Power is one of the most desired things in the world, and is often hard to attain, but once it is
gained it can often corrupt a person. Corruption due to power is shown in many instances in the
book, Animal Farm. In the book, there is an opening for someone to take control of the power, and
the animals that do are the pigs. The pigs gain the power for many reasons. When power is gained
there are many things people can do with it, either bad or good. The pigs actions in animalfarm show
the different ways that power can be used by those in charge.
Knowledge is the primary form of power that the pigs have and take advantage of. Towards the
beginning of the book this is shown when the pigs create a society in which they are superior
because of their intellect: but the pigs were so clever that they could think of a way round every
difficulty. As for the horses, they knew every inch of the field, and in fact understood the business
of mowing and raking far better than Jones and his men had ever done. The pigs did not actually
work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they
should assume the leadership. (pg. 27) This shows that the power is distributed unevenly, and the
pigs have much more because they are not working and think that they are above that. the pigs not
working shows their selfish and deceptive side, and that they are trying to say they should not have
to work because of their superior knowledge. The pigs gained
The Ethics Of Healthcare Reform, Issues And Issues In...
Review of two articles touching on the use of statistical analysis to help determine the future impact
and creating more financial stability in their healthcare system. Finance ethics is more important
than ever due to the importance of the conflicting fundamentals that most Americans want out of
healthcare. The first article, The Ethics of Healthcare Reform, Issues in Emergency Medicine
discusses those fundamentals and how cost containment can help the healthcare industry meet all
four. The second article discusses the different creative approaches to prevent foreclosure for small
community hospitals.

Financial benchmarking involves running a financial analysis and making a comparison of the
results in order to assess a company s overall competitiveness, efficiency and productivity.
The information gained from such a comparison allows firms to determine how well they perform in
comparison with the best and, in turn, develop new and better strategies to work towards making
improvements or adopting certain best practices. Benchmarking is usually an ongoing process in
which companies continuously seek the improvement of their practices. (Debitoor, 2017)
Trend analysis reviews past data and tries to predict the future . A ratio analysis is a quantitative
analysis of information contained in a company s financial statements. Ratio analysis is based on line
items in financial statements like the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement; the
ratios of one item or a combination of items to another item or combination are then calculated. Ratio
analysis is used to evaluate various aspects of a company s operating and financial performance such
as its efficiency, liquidity, profitability and solvency. The trend of these ratios over time is studied to
check whether they are improving or deteriorating. (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c

The role of finance ethics is becoming increasingly important as more hospitals are faced with
financial challenges under the affordable care act. As referenced in The Ethics
The Importance Of The Easter Vigil
At the Easter Vigil, a blazing fire is prepared... outside the church... on this most sacred night, in
which... [the Catholic Church celebrates the] Lord Jesus Christ[ s passing]... over from death to life.
The fire is then blessed by the priest. After igniting and blessing the Easter fire, one of the [attending]
ministers brings the paschal candleto the priest, who cuts a cross into the candle... Then he makes the
Greek letter Alpha above the cross, the letter Omega below, and the four numerals of the current year
between the arms of the cross. After marking the Christcandle with all the symbols just mentioned,
the priest may insert five grains of incense into the Easter candle in the form of a cross. These two
ritual actions (i.e. the blessing of the fire and the preparation of the Paschal candle) are essential
moments in the Easter Vigil liturgy. This paper will explore why these two ceremonial actions are
significant to the Catholic Church. To fully appreciate why these two actions are so meaningful, it is
necessary to examine four questions. First, what is the historical and symbolic background of these
two actions? Second, how are these two procedures initiatory? Third, what do they teach us about the
initiatory process? Fourth, what do these two ritualistic actions suggest for parish life?
The steps of starting and blessing the Easter fire have a rich historical background within the
Catholic Church. According to the rubrics of The Roman Missal, the fire should be
Essay On Chinook Salmon
There is a current discussion on whether we should genetically modify the growth hormone gene that
the Chinook salmon is naturally born with. AquAdvantage is currently working on getting their
genetically engineered transgenic salmon FDA approved. Their scientists have been able to make
the common Atlantic salmon be able to grow to over twice its natural size by inserting the growth
hormone genefrom the Chinook salmon into the Atlantic salmon, however, there are wider
implications to take into consideration before making these transgenic salmon mainstream.
Transgenesis is the process of inserting foreign DNA from one species into a different species. A

Them outcompeting the wild fish has a positive implication for the transgenic population, as they
have the most food to be able to have the energy to reproduce and continue to grow, and their size
eliminates some predators the smaller wild fish have to face and allows them to hunt larger prey
their wild rivals can t. The transgenic fish haven t had the opportunity to learn breeding behaviours
so they theoretically may have less possible mates and fertilisation successes, however according to
ecologist Darek Moreau, While the transgenic males displayed reduced breeding performance
relative to their non transgenic rivals they still demonstrated the ability to successfully participate in
natural spawning events and thus have the potential to contribute modified genes to wild
populations. It has been tested and proven that the species could in fact breed, and with them
outcompeting wild salmon there would most probably be less competition for mates too and the
survival of the population would
Tristan Social Norms
Also Tristan may imply that even though love has an uncontrollable and powerful control, it
doesn t come without a cost, as when Marke finds out of the relationship between Tristan and
Isolde, Tristan is forced to flee to Normandy (Von Strassburg 284)4. Tristan finally represents the
change of social norms in the twelfth century. One major change of the social norm would be the
quest of real love rather than arranged marriages. Isolde and Marke s marriage was a literal
arranged marriage, and as it was shown in the romance, neither one of them were truly happy. With
true love of Isolde and Marke, they were much happier. While it only affected the nobility and
people of upperclass, it encouraged the desire of finding true love, and not just
Clouds Socrates Unjust Speech Essay
The Carnage of Just Speech
William Myers
Section Eschenburg Thursday 9:00am
Topic B Aristophanes Pericles
In Aristophanes play, clouds , there is a battle between the old and new way of going out about life.
This can be seen through the just and unjust speech, whose argumentative outcomes dictate the way
in which society should go about educating its citizens. The unjust speech , which is a heavy logical
and manipulative approach to thinking about life ( new ), seems to subvert the just speech , which
appears to rely on moral and mythical justification ( old ). Pericles, a prominent and influential
Politian in Athens, has argued that democracy is the best form of government because it ... Show

The people who make the laws usually do so in a way beneficial to them in public affairs (West).
Unjust speech has the power to diminish the collective wisdom the Athenians have built up by
pointing out small contradictions and using manipulative reasoning that just speech can t defend
through logic. Just speech can only be defended through the centuries it has successfully survived
and through the strong bond each citizen shares with each other (West). Therefore, Aristophanes
argues through clouds that unjust speech has the ability to break down collective wisdoms, win
arguments, create unequal powers, and ultimately dismantle democracy (West). For example,
unjust speech states, I quite deny that Justice even exists (West 902) to which just speech replies
It does with the gods (West 904), then unjust speech ask the question then why didn t Zeus perish
when he bound his father? (West 906) to which just speech replies give me a basin: to vomit in
(West 907), basically stating if just does exist within the gods then it makes no sense because the
gods are not just themselves. In this case unjust found a logical approach to dismiss the presences of
just speech. This small contradiction discredits just speech as a whole, aids to the confusion of just
speech, and gives power to unjust speech. This result causes just speech
The Black Family In The African American Family
The African American family
Family dynamics across all races are complex. For the state of the black family is made even more
complicated by a history rooted in slavery. Fractured families were born out of a system where
husbands were taken away, jailed or killed, leaving the family weakened with a mother and/or
grandmother at the helm. While these historical facts may be true; that the black family is weak, can
be argued. Yet, the family for many in the black community and other communities of color extend
to include a large number of kin. On the other hand, it can also be argued that since families were
ripped apart during the slave trade it created an opportunity for setting up networks of support and
family units to include members who may not be blood related. You often hear black people refer to
an elder as aunt or uncle these networks were put in place as protective factors in the event that
parents were sold there was an assurance that someone would care for the children. To an extent
this behavior continues to this day as we see many fathers sentenced to long jail terms for petty
crimes or killed. The family structure makeup may be a blood relative and it may also be kin of
another kind. LaShawnDa Pittman discusses how these factors shape the African American family
and how slavery impacted the role of the mother and father within the family system. During
slavery there wasn t any possibility of childhood. Children were socialized to begin work at the age

Pliny The Elder Summary
INDUSTRY S KNOWLEDGE OF THE HARMFUL EFFECTS
Numerous authors believe that the risks associated with asbestos exposure were known more than
2000 years ago when Greek Geographer Strabo pointed out that slaves who wove asbestos into
clothes developed a sickness of the lung and that a similar observation was also made on asbestos
miners, by Pliny the Elder, a Roman naturalist.3,9,120 However, Browne et al describes Strabo s
and Pliny s stories to be inaccurate due to mistranslation. He points out that Strabo was referring to
arsenic disulphide, and that Elder Pliny was referring to sulphide of mercury, and not asbestos.121
Regardless of the accuracy of these anecdotes, there is a myriad of evidence of early knowledge of
asbestos s health danger. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daniel Jenkins, testified for the asbestos insulation manufacturers for several years. Also, Dr.
Leary, a physician specialized in chest diseases who worked for Travelers Insurance Company,
diagnosed Tomplait with emphysema, and did not mention asbestosis. Leary s finding was
completely refuted when Dr. Selikoff reviewed Tomplait s X rays and said that his diagnosis of
extensive pulmonary asbestosis is as certain as anything can be in medicine . Asbestos
manufacturing companies and their lawyer similarly, denied knowledge of the association
between asbestos exposure and lung disease, and argued consistently in every lawsuit that this
association wasn t known until Selikoff s landmark article that was published in 1964. It was
made conspicuous, however, that literally hundreds of studies were published in the 1920s and
1930s on the association between asbestos exposure and asbestosis. Stephenson was also able to
compile a bibliography of 86 articles on asbestosis most of them published before 1938. Another
example of the unethical conduct was what Dr. Cooper (an occupational health professor) said
about not being able to have known that a 15% asbestos product would be unsafe in 1961, and
that the early studies conducted in England, were on workers who were exposed to a lot heavier
asbestos dust. Dr. Cooper also referred to a study conducted in 1945 by Fleisher et al that found
low incidence (0.3%) of asbestosis among asbestos pipe covers (3 out of 1074). Despite the low
incidence, the authors recommended the use of exhaust ventilation and to keep the total dust
concentration low. In Fleisher s study125, the majority (95%) of workers had been employed for
less than 10 years, way less than the needed latency period to develop the disease. It is also a
Taking a Look at Food Allergies
Food, food is something that we as human beings live off of. But not everybody is as fortunate as
others, nowadays food allergies occur in 1 out of every 13 children. This indicates fifteen plus
million people have food allergies. This epidemic poses a threat to many citizens that live with
food allergies because of the incorrect labeling, distribution and safety of food products. The
research provided is to show one, what food allergies are and how they affect daily life of those who
live with food allergies. Food allergies are extremely important and educating people about food
allergies will hopefully quick start the progress to find a cure.
Food allergies have been reported but not looked into until 1976, when the public became aware of
the immune response to certain foods. The data collected showed that certain food s caused
reactions in people, which provoked further research on such topics. Food allergy awareness came
about in 1976 through newspapers and novels, because of reported civilians dying from ingesting
food that they were allergic too. A huge propaganda movement took place worldwide to show the
dangers of food allergies but was shortly subsided. The first Epi Pen was launched and registered in
the United States in 1980; this was an amazing new start because every three minutes, a food allergy
reaction sends someone to the emergency department ( Food Allergy Facts and Statistics FAAN ).
What exactly are food allergies, food allergies are a result of the
Portrait Of Max Colley
My artwork is a portrait of Max Colley Jr. It is a head and shoulders portrait that has a light blue
background fading to dark blue at the bottom. The blue represents Max s blue eyes, his band
called the Blue Max , jazz, the blues , and his love for the Detroit Lions. In order to create this
portrait, I had to start by making an outline of Max s face. I then added the skin tones, highlights,
and lowlights. This was the longest and hardest process of the entire portrait. Once his skin was
done, I added the eyes and the hair. His eyes were a blend of color including different shades of blue,
dark purple, green, and brown. His hair was a mixture of white and dark brown to make different
shades of gray. Streaks of white helped to make it look
Cultural Difference And Decision Making
Assessment Task 2: Group Talk Assignment
What is cultural difference in decision making and does cultural difference influence decision
making?
In today s quick paced, focused and complex environment, decision making aptitudes are essential
qualities that any management must have. As human being, we are not conceived with impeccable
decision making aptitudes; we learn through skills and experiences that begin our primary school
stages to and keep on adapting through to our expert life. Decision making can be hard and decision
incudes a few clashes or disappointment. Decision making is the process of making a one choice
from number of alternatives and committing to a future course of action. In this multiculturalism
world main question in decision making is cultural difference in an any organization. And does
cultural difference influences decision making.
In an illustrative sense multicultural is essentially a term which depicts the social and ethnic
assorted qualities of contemporary Australia. We are, and will remain, a multicultural society. As an
open approach multiculturalism incorporates government measures intended to react to that assorted
qualities. At present Australia s The Commonwealth Government has distinguished three
measurements of multicultural arrangement.
Cultural identity: The privilege of all Australians, inside deliberately characterized breaking points,
to express and share their individual social legacy, including their dialect and religion.
The Variable Age Is The Independent Variable And A Ratio...
The variable age is the independent variable and is a ratio level of measurement (Loiselle et al.,
2011). The measure of central tendency to describe age are in table 1.2 are the mean of 57.62
which is the average age, the median which is the middle score within the distribution when all
scores are organized of 58.5 and the mode of 58 which is the most frequently occurring age
(Loiselle et al., 2011). The measures of variability are the range of 69 with a minimum age of 22
and a maximum age of 91, standard deviationwhich is the average deviation from the sample mean
which is a value of 16.26, and the sample variancewhich is the standard deviation square and the
value is 263.46 (Salkind, 2013). The distribution for this sample is described as a negative skew
and the value obtained from table 1.2 is 0.22511(Salkind, 2013). A negative skew occurs when the
median and the mode value are larger than the mean, within this sample the median is 58.5 the
mode is 58 which is greater than the mean of 57.62, the tail would be pointed toward the left
(Salkind, 2013). The kurtosis value is 0.65102 and this describes how peak or flat the curve is from
the normal distributioncurve which is described as mesokurtic (Salkind, 2013). The kurtosis has a
large negative value which is representative of a flatter curve also know as playkurtic (Salkind,
2013).
The average deviation of scores from the sample mean is 16.26 in order to calculate if there any
extreme ages, any ages that occur below
Argumentative Essay On Gun Violence
Many believe that as the year progresses, our lives become more dangerous for us to be a part of.
However, Zachary Crockett states that the beginning is bad, and In the first 24 hours of the new
year, 264 separate incidents of gun violence happened across the United States (Crockett 1). He is
helping us to illustrate we struggle throughout the entire year, and we get attacked at the times
which we least expect them to happen. In the infographic that is being shown, Chicago was
reported to have 24 shootings, leaving 3 dead and 28 injured , leading us to the idea that some
towns are at more risk than others (Crockett 1). He is leading us to believe that some cities, like
Chicago, face a better likliness of shootings occurring, then in some other cities. There needs to be
a better handle of guns in this area, and take caution so that many do not get hurt. When trying to
depict other important details, Crockett helps explain that every day, and average of 112 people are
killed or injured by gunviolence in America (Crockett 1). There needs to be a tighter grip on not
only the actions of the people in the country, but the weapon. Guns cause a lot of stress and havoc
across the country, and if we could allow ourselves to overcome this, then we would be helping
ourselves out.
Zachary Crockett has written for many magazines, websites, etc. and they all enjoy the work that
he does for them. He has a lot of experience in his field, especially crime and politics, so when
discusses gun violence, he has plenty of knowledge. He has been cited by the White House, so he
has the backing of the president with him. Likewise, he also has co authored two bestselling books,
which allows him to be recognized as a very unique, but reliable source. The information that comes
from him are truthful facts that are detailed descriptions from real life occurrences in our society.
When someone is incorporating real life examples into their articles, they place themselves higher on
the minds of others on credibility. The Vox uses their own material, and allows for their information
to be unique. They get their facts from bigger and more important factual sources, and they allow for
their writers to expand on the information they
