Nursing Misconduct
The nurse s action of giving both doses at 1700, since she missed to give it at 0800, and recorded
it that they were given at prescribed times is an act of professional misconduct. In fact, according to
the College of Nurses of Ontario that Inaccurate documentation or failure to document may put the
client s health in jeopardy (College of Nurses of Ontario, pp 9). The nurse has the responsibility to
report any missed medications. Also, it is the nurse s responsibility to assure that every information
that is recorder on patient s file is truthful and accurate. Therefore, the nurse may undergo
investigations and could potentially loss or suspend her or his licence to practice once proven of his

Analysis of Brower vs. Dominy argument in Encounters with...
In the third section of John McPhee s Encounters with the Archdruid, the author observes the
discourse between conservationist David Brower and Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation,
Floyd Dominy, on the merits of dams in the southwestern United States. Brower hates all dams, large
and small, while Dominy sees dams as essential to our civilization. The Glen Canyon Damand Lake
Powell, which Dominy created, are the main issue of debate between the two men.

Floyd Dominy graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1932 and, after an unsuccessful stint as
a teacher, became a county agricultural agent for the federal government in Wyoming s Gillette
County. This was the time of the Great Depression and also a great drought in the ... Show more

Brower viewed nature as a sacred place, a place that must be earned. He hated the idea of people
developing wilderness areas. He felt that cities should have strict boundaries, and people should
stay there. Brower and Dominy have conflicting views in this situation. Brower is disgusted by
the development around Lake Powell and the destruction of the wilderness that is now beneath it.
Lake Powell is a drag strip for power boats. It s for people who won t do things except the easy way.
The magic of Glen Canyon is dead. It has been vulgarized. (240)

Dominy, on the other hand, is proud that he has created such a beautiful lake and has made it
accessible to the masses. Dominy is tired of trying to satisfy a noisy minority while trying to
bring water, power, and recreation to the people. I m a greater conservationist that you are, by far.
I do things. I make things available to man. Unregulated, the Colorado River wouldn t be worth a
good God damn to anybody...Do you want to keep this country the way it is for a handful of
people? (240)

Beside these arguments, there is also a more quantitative side to the debate. The ecological
detriments of the Glen Canyon Dam have been well documented. Extensive changes were brought
about in the Colorado River ecosystem by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam. Most of these
alterations negatively affected the functioning of the system and the native aquatic species of the
river. The reduced supply and transport of

Naturalism in The Open Boat: The sea (Nature or naturalism) and man versus nature.
Water: An element in nature that so many people overlook. Even though researchers spend every
day locating and discovering new species, between one and ten million of the species in oceans,

The Open Boat . Compared to other writers of his time, Stephen Crane used naturalism to bring a
mixture of realism and substance to his stories. In this story, in particular, he used the sea because of
his own personal experience with nature. Stephen himself survived a shipwreck off the coast of
Florida while on his way to Cuba, and used that as an inspiration to write The ... Show more content

Character Analysis Of Rumble Fish By Rusty James
The protagonist of the book is Rusty James. He is a fourteen your old boy that smokes and drinks
and fights already in the 1960 1970s in a southwest town. He pushes himself to be like the
Motorcycle boy (his brother). He starts to follow the Motorcycle boy around to seem tougher and
uncovers a new side of the Motorcycle boy. The antagonist of Rumble Fishis not really a person but
poverty. His dad drinks away the child support money and is always drunk. Rusty is left to fend
for himself which makes him steal and drink and smoke and fight for money. The two main
themes of Rumble Fish are alienation and abandonment. Rusty James is just trying to fit in but
all the gangs split up and he has nowhere to go so he follows the Motorcycle boy around to feel
like he fits in. He is also abandoned by his father and mother. His mother left when he was a baby
and, his father is always drunk and wastes the money. I would definitely recommend this book to
someone. It is a little slow but it has a good story line and it gets more interesting the more you
read it and the deeper you get. The exposition in the story in the story is when we learn about
Rusty James and his little crew who he hangs out with and how he is going to fight Biff Wilcox.
The conflict in the story is between the relationship between Rusty James and his brother, the
Motorcycle boy. The motorcycle boy tries to leave his gangroots but Rusty keeps bringing him
back. The climax is when the Motorcycle Boy, Rusty James and Rusty s friend Steve go to town,
get drunk They are split up and Rusty and Steve get beat up. The Motorcycle boy then has to come
and save them. The resolution is when Rusty James and Steve meet at the end of the book and
Steve is a successful person and rusty James is in a rehabilitation house getting help. Book report

Pet Therapy
Pet therapy can be dated as far back as prehistory time when humans noticed that animals were not
only used for food, but they were also friends and companions. Animal facilitated therapy is one of
the newer forms of medicine used throughout the nation. The origin of animal facilitated therapy can
be traced as far back as 18th century. The York Retreat, founded in 1792 by the Quaker merchant
William Tuke, was cited to be the first use of animal facilitated therapy. Instead of harsh forms of
treatment, the York Retreat emphasized positive means to control behavior. Animals could be found
all over the retreat, and the patients were encouraged to learn to care after them. The York Retreat
is used as a model today in the form of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The programs for the blind and deaf often are the first to come to mind, but animals also are placed
with disabled, elderly, or chronically ill individuals.
2. Part time companions include animals that are used on a loan basis. They may be left with a
person for periods of time but are generally the responsibility of someone else. This includes pets
visiting the elderly at home or in nursing care facilities. Some of these animals are entertainers,
whereas others are friends and lovers. Most often, the pet stewards are volunteers and they and their
animal have been psychologically screened, as in the Pet Partner Program of the Delta Society.

Micro Nutrient Deficiencies For Developing Countries
Micro Nutrient Deficiencies Some of the smallest things in life are over looked and are not valued
as much as other things, micro nutrients are a prime example of this. They are as focused on with
the human body and are often forgotten about. In developing countries it is harder for the people to
learn why they do not get the micro nutrients they need due to a lack of education. Political
problems also pose a threat for developing countries since creating funding for programs that
promote micro nutrients are hard to come by. Economic and social issues also pose a threat as
economics helping bring money into the country and with different classes of people, some may or
may not get the necessary amounts of micro nutrients they need. All of... Show more content on

This shows that with the correct methods such as using iodized salt decreases micronutrient
deficiencies in developing countries. Iodine deficiency is not the only micro nutrient deficiency
problem that developing countries face. Iron deficiency is another problem in many developing
countries. Children and infants seem to the ones that are the most potent to getting iron
deficiency, but it is often passed onto them by their mothers (Lozoff 1). The biggest symptom to
come from the children having iron deficiency is having anemia. This means that the children are
lacking hemoglobin in their blood and this makes it makes oxygen not want to bind to the blood
cells. It is key for children that are growing to get iron to help develop their brains more (Lozoff
1). The problem is that when children in developing countries are at the age of 7 12 months old
they are required to have 11 mg/day of iron (Baker, Greer, 2). Children that usually have iron
deficiency and are also anemic often have stunted growth. In recent years many studies have been
done to try and understand the impacts of iron deficiency, but most of these have used rodents as test
subjects. One test found that lactating mother rats that were iron deficient had passed the deficiency
onto their offspring. There was some debate as to whether the rat life could be compared to the
human life, but thinking about it the rats are warm blooded mammals just like humans (Lozoff 2).

The Gospels Are The Closest Things We Have A Primary...
The four gospels are the closest things we have to a primary source for the life of Jesus. Each one
recounts the same story, but with different details and focuses. During my research of the gospels,
I noticed that Jesus seemed to be a large advocate of women s rights for his time period. He
changed the laws of divorce to be more equal between the sexes, and treated everyone he met
equally, regardless of their gender or ethnic background. Additionally, there are prominent female
figures that played a key role in the story of Jesus, such as Mary Magdalene, Susanna, and Joanna,
who followed him throughout his ministry. While women were present in the story of Jesus, I
noticed that the gospels all seem to have different representations and interpretations of the women
in the various stories. When Jesus fed the crowd of five thousand people in the gospel of Mark,
Those who had eaten the loaves numbered five thousand men (New Oxford Annotated Bible, Mark.
6.44), meaning that the crowd was comprised entirely of men. However, in the gospelof Matthew, the
story is slightly different: And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and
children (Matt. 14.21). However, despite the various differences in representation of women in the
gospels, what I found most interesting was that none of the gospels mention women being present at
the last supper, despite the fact that Jesus had numerous close female followers. These observations
lead me to ask the following
Personally Identifiable Information Essay
Information gathering, through networking, social media, and both on and offline storage have
made it easier to collect information about an individual than ever before, with many concerns
having arisen over the years about privacy and the ability to protect that privacy. As debates over
personally identifiable information continue, one cornerstone remains a constant, ethics. Ethics are
defined as the standard by which human actions can be judged right and wrong (Online, 2012) , but
even that can be debated when discussed within the realm of information technology. Have you ever
been to an internet shopping site and trusted the secure connection? Essentially, you are entrusting an
inanimate system developed by an individual or group... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first questions to ask when it comes to e mail and websites at work is, Am I being watched? The
answer is most likely yes. Employers have begun to watch their employee s activities with greater
detail over the years. In 2001, CNN.com posted an article titled, Is your PC watching you? Find out!,
which looked into this further. In this article A study by the Privacy Foundation claims employers
are monitoring the Internet and e mail use of 14 million employees. (Articles.CNN, 2001) While it
can be assumed that number has grown over the last decade, it can also be said with certainty that
measures have been put in place to ensure information transmitted via business internet connections
have increased. The U.S. government, for example, has set up content filters and points of
encryption to safeguard against system penetrations and intrusions. Although these measures are not
practical for home use, limiting the information you supply to through the internet will help. One
topic of contention that does not seem to have a resolution, however, is the subject of electronic
medical records. The utilization of electronic medical records has been highly ethically debated.
According the Journal of Information Systems Education, Building knowledge and skills in

Stress in the Emergency Department
Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue in the Emergency Department Background
Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to those with
mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011). Many consider nursing as
their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the emotional and physical implications that come
from having interpersonal relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill,
traumatized, and vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the
pain, suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis.
When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of the
overwhelming need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or compassion fatigue. This not
only effects ones physical and emotional health, but also results in decreased productivity and job
satisfaction, as well as increasing job turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This
concept is predominantly true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually
where the context of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is also
seen across the spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011).
This topic will be discussed further in the words following, as well as an exploration of ways to
overcome compassion fatigue in the workplace.
