Semi-detailed Lesson Plan

in HEALTH 7

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

a. Identify the importance of first aid and the basic steps in providing first aid for common injuries
(e.g., cuts, burns, fractures),

b. Show appreciation for the role of first aid in saving lives and demonstrate a willingness to help
others in emergency situations, and;

c. Perform basic first aid techniques through a role-playing activity.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: First Aid Basics

Materials: Presentation slides, first aid kit (bandages, gauze, antiseptic, triangular bandage), printed
scenario cards

References: Health Education textbook, Red Cross first aid guidelines

III. Procedure

A. Activity

Show a short video clip or real-life scenario where first aid is needed (e.g., someone getting a minor
injury and being assisted).

Ask students:

What did you notice in the video?

Have you ever witnessed or experienced a situation where first aid was needed?

Why do you think first aid is important?

B. Analysis

Discuss the definition of first aid and its importance.

Explain basic first aid procedures for common injuries:

Cuts/Wounds: Cleaning and bandaging

Burns: Cooling and covering the burn

Fractures/Sprains: Immobilization and seeking medical help

Demonstrate each first aid technique using materials from the first aid kit.

Allow students to ask questions and clarify misconceptions.

What should you do first when helping an injured person?

Why is it important to know basic first aid?

How can first aid skills benefit your family and community?

D. Application

Role-Playing Activity:

Divide students into small groups.

Each group will receive a scenario card describing an emergency situation (e.g., a student falls and
gets a cut, someone burns their hand while cooking, a classmate sprains an ankle while playing).

Groups will act out the scenario and demonstrate the appropriate first aid response.

Encourage students to use first aid materials and proper procedures.

Class Discussion and Feedback:

After each role-play, discuss what was done correctly and what could be improved.

Reinforce the importance of teamwork and clear communication in first aid situations.

Accuracy of first aid procedures (5 points)

Teamwork and cooperation (5 points)

Confidence and clarity in performing the task (5 points)

Understanding of the situation and response (5 points)

Total: 20 points
