TOPIC: THE WEATHER

1. What is the weather like in your country ?

Well, like you know, I’m currently residing in the South of
Vietnam. I’m accustomed to the humid and hot tropical weather.
The weather here has two main seasons: the rainy season and the
sunny season, instead of four seasons like in the North.
One of the seasons is the rainy season, which lasts from May to
November. It rains a lot and the rain can last for several days which
create lush green landscapes. However, some places can flood
during periods of heavy rain. The rainy season is often
accompanied by storms, which bring heavy downpours and strong
winds. Sometimes, there are sunny days, but sudden rain can hit at
any time. The weather during this season has high humidity levels
and temperatures range from 25°C to 30 °C.
In contrast, the sunny season offers clear skies, lower humidity, and
warm temperatures. It occurs from December to April. The sun
shines brightly, and it rarely rains. It is a great time for outdoor
activities and travel. However, there are some days with high
temperatures and heatwaves, which make everyone feel
uncomfortable.
In the North, the weather has four distinct seasons in a year. Spring
begins in late January or February. Trees start to bud, and flowers
begin to bloom. The weather starts to warm, which makes everyone
feel pleasant and excited. Spring is followed by summer, which
lasts from June to August. It can get very hot during the summer.
The sun shines brightly, and many people go on vacations. This
season often includes afternoon rain showers and occasional
thunderstorms. Autumn, from September to November, is
considered the most beautiful season, with cooler temperatures and
clear skies. The leaves on the trees change color, turning from
green to red, orange, and brown. The days get shorter. Finally,
winter, from December to February, brings cooler temperatures. In
some places, it even snows during winter. Like this, the seasons
follow one after another.
2. Which months have the best weather in your country?
I guess it depends on the personality of each person. For me, I’m
extremely keen on spring because it’s when I can enjoy the
refreshed and clear atmosphere. The weather starts to warm up,
which makes me feel pleasant and excited. Especially, the
panoramic view of spring is stunning and breathtaking. A variety
of flowers begin to bloom, and the trees start to bud. Everything is
ready to welcome the new year with new successes.
3. How do the different seasons affect the lifestyle of people in
your country?
I think each season affects the lifestyle of people to some extent,
especially their fashion styles. To be more specific, when the
weather is baking hot, people tend to choose light and casual
clothes like T-shirts or jeans because these types of clothing give
them a sense of comfort and flexibility. Yet, when it’s bitterly cold
with biting winds, a coat with a jumper inside is people’s preferred
choice. Another aspect is a type of recreation which people choose.
Summer is a perfect time for people to go swimming or walking
along a sandy beach to enjoy fresh air. However, when the weather
is getting warm in spring, people tend to take a picnic so that they
can enjoy the rare sunlight.
4. Does it bother you much when it rain?
To be honest, I really like rainy days because, after the rain, my
emotions feel refreshed and optimistic. Especially, when there is a
heatwave lasting for several days, heavy rains make me feel comfy
and better. However, it depends on the situation. For example, if
I’m going outside and get caught in the rain, and then I get
drenched to the skin, of course it bothers me a lot and might delay
my plans.
5. Does air pollution affect the weather?
The weather is greatly affected by air quality. As you can see, when
the air is polluted, the atmosphere becomes overcast with smog and
dust. The earth can become hotter, and the weather may no longer
have four distinct seasons. Instead, it could become chaotic,
making people feel dreary all day.
6. Do you think that weather affects people’s behaviour?
I think the weather affects people's behaviour. When the weather is
sweltering and sticky like in summer, it can easily drive you nuts.
You may become bervous about anythings.
However, if the weather is cool with a breezy wind, like at the end
of winter and the beginning of spring, people may feel over the
moon and excited to start the new year with many lucky things
