Jop: We hope you enjoyed attending the TSV Talk & Workshop.
Limuel: We’ll be discussing a topic which is -

Limuel: Related po ito sa ating lahat na nasa TSV. We’re handling cables as part of
our duty technically.

Jop: Ano nga ba ang Cable Management?
Sheila: (Habang sinasagot ang tanong ay ipapakita ang definition ng Cable
Management, slide 2) Cable Management is the way to organize, route and support
your cables. Lahat kasama dito – mula sa cabling at connectivity hardware na mas
madali nating maidentify at matroubleshoot kapag nagkaproblema. We mostly work
with cables for example our webcam, television and power cords, we require longer
than usual cables since spacious ang kapilya. Madalas pa hindi kapareho ng kulay
yung mga kable at madaling makita at pwede din na matalisod ang mga kapatid
kapag hindi naiayos. Ang mas mahirap pa, kapag naapektuhan yung mismong
devices natin sa pagkakatanggal sa saksakan at pwede din masira yung mismong
cables natin. Hindi po safe kung hindi natin iaayos.
Limuel: What’s the term for tangled cables?
Sheila: (Slide 3) We call that – Cable spaghetti. Yan na yung malala, as in gulo gulo
na at mahirap nang ayusin. Poor cable management naman pag humantong sa
ganyan.
Limuel: Have you encountered that before Ka Sheila?
Sheila: Of course, if you decided to buy your own PC or Computer – mas mura kasi
ang desktop dati kaya desktop tlaga ang bibilhin tapos lahat ng accessories ay
“wired”. Maybe most of us has encountered this, you bought your own PC and the
cables were hanging the back of your table. All cables are black – power cord,
printer cable, monitor cables. You won’t be able to identify which is which. It’s also
an eyesore – masakit sa mata pag tinignan.
Jop: Do you have tips for proper Cable Management in your office space? Parang
kakain kasi ng matagal na panahon pag Cable Spaghetti na yung aayusin katulad
ng mga nakikita natin sa screen. (Slide 4, 5, 6) How can we avoid those and be
organized? (Slide 7)
Sheila: (Slide 8) 1st tip is to go Wireless. I mentioned that before, we only have
wired devices – mouse, keyboards, printers for desktop computers but now, those
have “wireless versions”. For the mostly used ones that we have in TSV are the
HDMI & SDI Dual Interfaces (Slide 9). Sa Baesa, meron kaming Wireless HDMI
transmitter and Receiver para sa mga TV/Monitor na nakalagay sa iba’t ibang
bahagi ng kapilya. Nareplace nun ang mahabang HDMI cables mula sa TSV room
papunta sa mga TV/Monitor.
Limuel: Can we classify TSV room as an example of an office space?
Sheila: Yes, since we have a desktop or laptop setup in a room, it’s considered an
office space. It’s just a single office space, imagine on a corporate office wherein we
have at least 5 to 10 computers in a room, they usually hide the cables on the back
of the table thru trays or we can call-it under desk table trays and those cables were
connected thru a switch in a rack or in a separate room that they call data center or
server room or control room. (Slide 10)
Jop: Pano nga ba natin magagawa yung ganyang setup (refers to Slide 10)?
Sheila: Here are the tips (Slide 11). 1st is plan and design (Slide 12). Kasama sa
icoconsider natin yung lugar na paglalagyan ng mga equipments or devices natin
na may mga cables. Usually, the cables were hidden on the table itself or on a tray
or we use the cable ties/clips and sleeves to make it seem invisible or not-so-visible.
Tapos yung tables nasa gilid or corners. Kapag nakaayos ang cables natin, mas
madali din maglinis. 2nd one is to Give it a name (Slide 13). We can label the cords
if it’s bundled together to identify and troubleshoot easily. Sa IT naman, restart
almost always fixes the issue – tandan nyo yan. It also applies on cables. Pag may
label, mas madaling malaman kung alin yung iuunplug at ibabalik sa saksakan.
Limuel: Ok lang ba kahit isang cable tie lang gamitin?
Sheila: You need a lot. (Slide 14) Loop it – pag isa lang ginamit na cable tie, it will
still not be a pleasant view to see. Eyesore pa din kaya mas maganda hanggang
dulo may cable ties o kaya Velcro. Another one is to utilize cable trays or conduits
(Slide 15). As mentioned earlier, madami nang gumagamit ng trays. If we cannot
hide it, we can use something that can hide it. Ang maganda sa tray, hindi prone sa
accidents like water spill. Yung mga power sockets din kasi ideal na ilagay sa tray
para nakatago at hindi din madaling matanggal sa pagkakasaksak.
Jop: Pag nagloop ka ba ng cables, ok lang na magkakasama na lahat?
Sheila: (Slide 16) For that, we need to separate power and data cables. What
are the example power and data cables? Let’s use monitor – it has power cord and
we have other cords that we use to connect monitor from a source, since monitor is
considered as your output. It can be HDMI cables, Optical cables for audio, USB-C,
or Display Port. You can create a loop for power on one side and on the other side
for data cables. (Slide 17 & 18). As you can see, we have cable trunking & ladder,
perforated cable tray and cable tray fittings.
Limuel: Do we have other tools to use and best practice for Cable management?
Sheila: Let’s run through those tools we have mentioned earlier. We have the
cable ties (Slide 20), then the cable trays or conduits (Slide 21). Example given
is for office space. Then we have label maker (Slide 22). We can also improvise,
write on a piece of paper then place it o wide scotch tape then wrap it on the end of
the cord – on the end that you can see the label. We have also DIN rail mounts
(Slide 23 & 24) and Moldings – if you’re feeling creative and you have more time to
organize. Then the Velcro straps (Slide 25) alternative tool for cable ties – depends
on what you prefer to use. Pros of Velcro – it is reusable. Same with ties and Velcro,
we can also use cable clips or adhesive (Slide 26). We can also coat it by using
wire loom or braided sleeving (Slide 27). Then another one is Cable grommets
(Slide 25) – It’s like a tray but I mostly saw this setup on buildings or houses.
Jop: There’s a lot of tools to use. Madali kayang isetup or gamitin yung mga pang-
organize ng cables?
Sheila: You can always ask for help for in setting up the cables for your new device
or equipment. (Slide 29 to 30) For example on your router, the installer usually
checks where to install the unit then checks on where the cables can be fastened
or use guide cords for delicate surfaces – you can use command strips as shown
on the screen #2. What the installers use are cable staples. Depende din sa cable
kung manipis o makapal ung gagamitin nilang clips. Minsan magdririll pa sila sa
wall.
Limuel: Pano naman sa mga tv o monitors, kadalasan nakababa lang mga kable?
Sheila: Pwede mong gamitan ng zip ties o Velcro (Slide 31). Example dyan is
nakapaikot ung mga cables na mahaba ung length then isecure mo na lang sa likod
nung tv o monitor para maitago.
Jop: Pano naman yung mga power cables? Ano kayang mas Magandang gawin
dun?
Sheila: For power cables and sockets, magdesignate ng isang lugar kung saan
ilalagay yun – usually sa likod pa din ng desk o kaya sa ilalim ng table (Slide 29).
Use double-sided tapes para maisecure ung power strips. For me, I look for power
strips that has USB A and/or C ports for chaging phones – this way you can
eliminate adapters. You can also label those cords as mentioned before. (Slide 33).
Limuel: May mga example pa ba na pwede naming makita para may visual idea din
kami pano gawin?
Sheila: Of course, you can see on the ideas we have discussed. (Slides 34 to 50).

You can also watch videos and read how to setup the cables on your home, office
space at sa kapilya. Sa Lokal ng Baesa, hindi man perfect yung pagkakagawa ng
cable, pero inayos po namin yun sa abot ng aming makakaya.

ginagamit natin sa mga pagtitipon lalo na sa mga Pagsamba.

pagsamba sa loob ng gusaling sambahan.
