1. An application program or app is software designed to perform specific tasks on devices, such
as smartphones, tablet computers, e-book readers, and so on.
2. To use an app, follow these steps.
➤ Use a smartphone or any other internet-connected mobile device to access the online app
store. If your mobile operating system is Android, you will use Play Store and if it is iOS,
you will use App Store. Microsoft users can download apps from Windows store.
➤ After reaching the store, you enter the details of the app that you want to download.
The store is searching for your app.
➤ Click on the app you want to download.
➤ The installation process starts. Wait till the process is complete.
➤ After the installation process is complete, the app icon is shown on the device. You can
now access the app with a single tap or a touch.
3. Mobile operating system is the software responsible for running the advanced functions
of a mobile phone. It manages all the hardware and optimizes the efficiency of an
application software. It is a platform on which software developers can create apps to
carry out specific functions.
4. Some commonly used apps are: Wikipedia, Saavn, Candy Crush, Quora, Ola, Uber,
Chrome, Amazon.
Saavn: This app is used to play
music. Candy Crush: This is a gaming
app.
5. Apple iOS does not work in the third-party systems, which means it can only be used on the
products made by Apple. iOS is a closed system whereas Android is open. Users can
customize their phones easily in Android, but they barely have system permissions in iOS.
